The floor kip-up is a fun ninja move that's not as hard as it looks. At least not when Ryan teaches it. Follow the 6 steps in this #shorts tutorial to get the floor kip fast.
We really hope you found this video on how to do a kip up useful. Please leave a comment if you have any questions at all. We'll do our best to help. - Zábava
Watching this just puts a big smile on my face cos it looks SO easy.
If I was 40yrs younger I would be into this Today, Now! Buuut I'm just gonna practice rolling back and forth for a month. Lol
Love your vids Ryan 👍
Work the parts you can do safely, and you'll get there :)
Same lol
Ik a 60 yr old person who still could flip
best one-minute tutorial evah!
Really!
There's 1 min tutorials on alot of things
Definitely but I still need some practice on my upper body lol
The more vintage I get the more I appreciate a man who just MOVES well. The walk, the posture, the ease of someone like this always turns my head. This guy? Well he's obviously high value.
You'd be blown away by Breakdancers & Martial Arts Trickers then
This move is so fun to do, I taught myself how to do it a little over 3 years ago, it took about 2 weeks to get down perfectly, but once you learn it you can do it without hands just as easily, that's what people don't understand, the power doesn't come from your arms, unless you're doing a more movie style one where you get knocked onto your back and you are trying to rebound to your feet faster
I dk it with no hands then proceed to do 5 Backflips flips off of one foot right afterwards

Awesome! 😎👍🏾 I'll do kip up
Really helpful
Thanks
Thank you
Tyyy 🎉🎉
The takeaway is that it's called a "floor kip". (I never knew what to call it) xD
Never stop learning ;)
Kip up too
@@abigwhale1043Yea
Funny, was just watching Karate Kid 1 (original) because my wife was watching Cobra Kai, and I was impressed that Johnny was able to do a floor kip during the tournament considering most of those kids hadn't had martial arts training before the movie.
hahaha, classic :)
Thanks a lot sir.
Thank you!!! I will put these tips into practice💞
I love your videos! Thank you.
This was a move I never thought I'd lose, but with age comes losses. It's true what they say, use it or lose it
Yeah, it's funny how many things we all "used to do all the time" get harder. But the good news is that most of us can learn to do them again :)
Unfortunately, my 5 herniated discs will not give me the opportunity to relearn the kip up, but thanks for the kind words
My 5'8" height doesn't give me the opportunity to dunk a basketball. That's fine. Do other stuff instead. Find things you can do and do them.
thanks tried this gave myself whiplash
We have a neck article for that. ;)
Thanx!
“You had me at a floor kip”
hahaha :)
Thank u so much know i know how to do a pop up@@gmbfit
Looove it!!!
I've been loving your videos for a long time and love the direction the channel has taken. As an adult learning gymnastics and movement your tutorials fill a much needed skill and strength gap between elite gymnastics moves and basic drills! Would you ever consider putting your material together in a book? I'm sure they would sell like hotcakes! :)
Thanks! We've thought about doing a book, but for now, we're focused on instruction through our courses at gmb.io 👈 that's how we can provide the most value to people right now.
Good video I have always wanted to try it and i will
thank you for this I'll use this to practice for the stunts I have to do in dance
Thank you!
😍😍😍 so helpful thx a lot ryan !
Glad to help
me watching this as my back is in pain
Why not. I’ll learn to do this kip-up move!
RYAN PLEASE TUTORIAL OF MACACO OF BACK HANDSPRING😣 What arm strengh exercises do I need? I have the flexibility and leg
You don't need a ton of strength. If you can do a wall-supported handstand, you've got plenty.
We might do a macaco tutorial. We used to teach it in an older program, but it's a fun move, for sure :)
Funny to see that Negan from twd found a new purpose in life
Thank you. Will come back here to comment when I’m able to do it.
Did you do it
You are amazing!!
Way cool!
Best 1 minute tutorial
Tysm! I want to learn this so badly
It can take a lot of practice, but if you're willing to stick with it, I think it's a skill most people can learn.
Thanks GMB for the tutorial. I followed along but slammed by lower back. However, I'll keep practicing progressively till I make it. Thanks for sharing the video. My agility flexibility and mobility routine 🔝🇰🇪👍🏿
Hoping to be able to do this some day soon
Keep working on it and it'll happen. :)
I could never nail this in the F1 program. I used to land HARD on my tailbone and it hurt and just put me off. I think my bail out technique was just crap. This tutorial is much better than the one in F1, especially the bail part. It's given me renewed interest in revisiting it. Thanks!
Thank you! I really want to be able to do this...
Keep practicing :)
Thank you for this man.
Sure thing - hope it helps!
Its call kip up but i still like it
Veryy good brother!!
Awesome! What's great is that this is similar to the GMB training method I did for the pistol squats. I'll be adding this to my arsenal of jutsu as I make my way to become a full-fledged GMB ninja.
If I don't have any mats, what surface can I train on?
Yeah, that rock-back movement can be really useful. I've heard of people practicing on a mattress (but move it to the floor so you don't break your bed). Sofa cushions might work?
@@gmbfit, thanks. Will give it a go!
I don't have any expensive fitness mats but I can recommend investing in some cheap kind of camping foam mat. The one I use was 5 euros. It's been with me for years and covered with duct tape by now, but it has been one of my best invested 5 euros. My spine and tailbone used to be bruised all of the time, not anymore now -they're both super grateful for it. :) It's also kind of a multi purpose device, keeps the table from sliding when I practice dragon flags etc.
The link below is my mat, just to show you what I mean. I have no financial interest in this firm and I'm not even sure if they operate in the US. www.decathlon.be/nl/p/schuimmat-voor-trekking-arpenaz-m100-grijs/_/R-p-13259?mc=5591048&c=GRIJS
Just started training today and already I’m almost able to do as of may 8th, 2022. I will keep editing this to give you guys and update on my progress.
Edit: it’s june 3rd and as of now I’m on step 5 and also know how to perfectly bail, next time I edit it it’s when I’m fully ready.
Sweet - keep it the practice :)
Peter Barlow's recovered fast!
I did this and got whiplash
Badass!
Thanks bro!
Be working on that as soon as I've ninja mopped the floor!
💥 👊 🤜🌟 🤛 👊 💥
Gotta start somewhere ;)
forget hurting my back I've got carpet burn on my neck
Gotta find a better surface. :)
Pov. You want to look like you know kung fu
Ngl, I thought I was getting a kip up tutorial from Negan for a second there lol. Great vid!!
When the student is ready, the teacher appears ;)
Glad you liked it!
Is it ok to do it on hardsurface? Bcs I wanna do it but I don't have any soft firm surface I can study on
Sure, if you don't mind it hurting a bit. Might actually force you to get it faster. Half-joking.
I am struggling with my Kip-Ups. I can do everything up until pulling myself up once my feet hit the floor. I have been practicing for close to 3 months now, using various excercises to build core and arm/shoulder strength but i cant complete the maneuver at all. Absolutely frustrating me to the piint of distraction. I keep ending up in the position that is in your number 5 demonstration, is there any advice or any other tips to help with my plateau?
Here's a full tutorial that could help. gmb.io/kip-up/
Am daily trying to perfect floor kip🤗
Keep at it
👌 nice
This looks so fun!
Did it
Some of the steps look like some of the exercises I do to learn calisthenics, like the (I don't know that it's called in English since it's not my mother tongue) hip bridge. I will definitely try this out!
This is pretty classic stuff!
My knees are begging for a break.
give it to them
This is one thing I’ve wanted to achieve since seeing Bruce Lee do it! Time to get it done!! Thanks Ryan 😊
Get at it, Clay! :) I'm sure you can make it happen.
i started doing this a couple years ago cause of Spider-man PS4 lol
Right on! Keep rocking :)
Brings back memories. Had a mentor who watched too many kungfu movies when I first came to the US who taught me this move. I graduated to doing it like he did, without hands (press elbows on floor). I wouldn't even attempt this now.
It's something that you lose confidence for over time. But the bailing shown here can help you get it back safely if you want.
@@gmbfit you know what, you've convinced me to give it a go...in a few weeks, I should be kipping away!
I’m just afraid of hurting my head, and also I can’t lift my head up with my palms, is it because I’m weak or is that normal?
The video shows you how to avoid hurting your head.
For the other part, sounds like you're both weak and stiff. AND yes, that's very normal. Check the shoulder mobility videos on our channel for a start.
Neagans ninja arc?
the amount of back pain while trynna do this💀
If you have back pain, trying this wouldn't be very smart.
@@gmbfit no I got it from this 😂 I'm very flexible and strong I just can't push myself up so I land on my feet or back 💀
@@mauracadell well, it shows how to reduce the impact and work up to it. Practice will get you there.
If you can't deal with a few falls and poor landings, I'm afraid that acrobatic movement is simply not for you. You can tough it out :)
I can learned it like this but i want to learn with straight legs. Any tips?
Yeah, get really, really good at doing it this way first. Then you have to generate much more upward momentum with both your leg kick and your arm push. Most of your forward momentum will have to come from swinging your arms forward.
How to kip in Jeans😎my 8 yr old is trying to do this.
I learned it as a Chinese get-up....
What jeans are you wearing?!
hey, is it normal to have neck pain after doing it for several times
No
@@gmbfit that's strange
@@morro3771 Just means you're doing something wrong, or that you have something wrong with your neck. Hard to say which. Healthy movement should not cause pain.
@@gmbfit okay, thanks for explaining!
My monk can do this in my game... you mean I can actually work towards doing this IRL!? #goals #fitness
I’m tryna do this but my wrist aren’t that good 😭
We have a great wrist article that should help. gmb.io/wrists/
How NOT to slam your back❓use your hands and chest 🆙 to propel you fwd, kick your feet harder on the floor.
Thanks you 🙏🏿 still unlearning learning and relearning 🔜🇰🇪👍🏿
My dude over here is doing this in jeans like nothing 😄
When you do something a lot and get pretty good at it, you shouldn't need to change into special clothes to do it :)
our floor : made up of tile
his floor : made up of matress
Yeah, sure, and I also live on the moon where there's less gravity.
My back sore
We're not gonna talk about how he's doing this in jeans? Lol
It's been covered ;) gmb.io/jeans/
This is taekwondo mat
Next: How to transition from a floor kip into a front flip
Show us!
Lol I’ve been able to front flip on ground for years but I’m just trying and having a hard time learning a kip up now
I learned to floor kip in 2 seconds after my girlfriend told me she was pregnant.... then I bailed
. . . :(
The best off maidvomerer
It hurts a lot when I slam my feet to the floor
I would expect slamming any part of my body into the floor to hurt. Please don't do that.
Armadillo kip does count? 😅
hahaha, i've never heard it called that before
@@gmbfit Is the same thing of the video, but rolling up.. without raise the back 😁
@@brunosolsol3165 huh, thanks!
Oh good lord 🤦🏼♀️
You will get bow-legs doing such exercise. WWE Shawn Michael is an example.
The doesn't make any sense, but I guess some people will believe just about anything...
@@gmbfit Sir, I admire your every move. I aspire to be like you.Amen!
I am trying this for 2 months 😢 😭 😿 😢 😭
If the skill isn't coming to you, you probably have limited strength or mobility. Or maybe you just need more practice.
@@gmbfit yeah bro you are right I think I cannot do this I give up
Hi Ryan will you reply me 🤔
can kids do this
many kids do this
Its a kip up
I think I just broke every bone in my body😂😂😂 I heard my neck crack😂😂😂
Please don't hurt yourself.
Yikes
Thank you
