Oh my gosh your house is like the house I grew up in. Mom making fresh bread cookies and pies in season. Painting the butter on top of warm dinner rolls for dinner with home made soup. Ahh the memories. 💙

Ahh, Iris this is so much like us at home, pouring coffee through an old dripper into a favourite mug, and stoking our wood stove to make our kitchen warm up very quickly. As our 'stove is flat-topped, we've cooked fry-ups and put a kettle on to make tea or coffee if our town has a power outage. My oldest daughter makes the same type of bread; is yours sourdough? She also makes Chelsea Buns whose grand recipe is found in English Bread and Yeast Cookery by the late Elizabeth David. Buying this book as 'used, VGC' is a bargain! I buy 25kg sacks of fine stone-ground wholewheat flour from our local mill. It makes utterly wonderful bread, and rolls which we make up as squares. (Square pave). It's my birthday on the 15th. I'll be the grand old age of 60! Still working, too. 😊 All of us would love you to write a book. Could you do this? Recipes are to be shared, and I think yours would be very cherished. ...in your garden do you have an orange tree? Also a fig tree? We have a fig tree that I had to have a conservatory built around. Happy birthday and God bless you, dear! 😘 I always share recipes in the description box, when they are ready to share! 😄 This one is with sourdough, but I made the buns for the first time and I need to experiment a little bit more until I have the result I want. Then I will happy to share it with you! Writing a book is a lovely idea, but I know I'm not ready for that yet. No, we don't have orange and fig trees, we buy from growers. @@quaintlittlehome Hello Iris, my farmhouse took many years to renovate which my dear husband spent some 10 years doing it up. Sadly he died a few years ago when our daughters were in their young teens. It is cozy, but when a sea gale roars in, the old shipwreck wooden beams creak. But it's a very sturdy house that has several wood stoves in addition to central heating. That book I recommended has a sweet spiced bun recipe which is very popular. Elizabeth David has her own sweet spice mix which you can find online, I am sure. I'll keep a lookout for your recipes., so thank you. If you use a Mac, writing a book is very easy as you can buy Vellum software. In our town is a farmer's market, so we always buy what we cannot otherwise grow. We have a very large garden, but it's set out to an orchard and vegetables also. Anyway, many thanks again and much love! ❤
