i just saw John Fullbright in La Veta, Colorado on his way back home from a tour. I realized after watching him live that I'd seen him in this clip. He is so talented on keyboards, vocally, and with the guitar and harmonica. He did a tribute to Townes. What an amazingly talented musician!!

John Fullbright's 15 second harp solo gives me chills every single time. A wonderful and timeless song right there.

This was my favorite song on my first Townes LP (they were hard to get where I lived in Germany, it's a small wonder I even knew about Townes back then) This version is incredible.

I'm a good ol boy from TEXAS, 37 years old, life long TEXAN, several years ago I had the pleasure of getting to stay in Raton, the finest of housing establishments, county jail. Love ya Robert, but to the HELL with raton

Poetry. Townes was a genius. No singer has made me say "wow" so many times after actually listening to the words.

This is how you make magic. Some songs take up residence in your head and never leave. I hate snow but on Raton I would have to rethink it.

I have been all over the southwest, often times checking out western wear stores. In my opinion the best western store is in Raton. Not an advertisement not even telling you the name

My favorite version of this song is the one that Townes did with Blaze Foley. I was lucky enough to meet them not too long before Blaze was murdered.
