    Ive done this and i found a difference at first it will back fire a bit ..self adjusting to the change but after driving a bit it will smoothen out and bave less engine leg ..i sugest you not to go to 6mm right away id adjust it to 4 mm drive it for few km and see how its responding to that change and depending on what you think you czn go two more mm but i wouldnt do more then that or you may have to change your oil separator box as i seen this happin ..and the price is 600 dolars for a new one ..i do not know why this happins but i seen it happin to 2 different darts with 1.4 turbo

    Sorry if this a silly question, but what does adjusting the wastegate do to the car's performance? I have a 2013 Dart Limited with a turbo engine, and was wondering if this would improve performance and/or decrease throttle response/turbo lag.
    Thank you.

      mikrosha Yes, it will do all of the above. The best part is that if you are not satisfied it can always be put back, just mark where the original location is. Thanks for watching.

      I have the 2013 1.4 Turbo and it's my understanding that the engine Computer operates the waist gate so adjusting it does not increase performance.

    Great video funbro1, thanks for the upload.
    I noticed the Dart in this video also had an aftermarket ram intake on it. Did you also install this, and if so, did you run any before and after tests? I own a 2013 Dart and have been looking into installing either a short ram intake or a cold air intake but would love to see some better data and comparisons on before and after results. Just wondering. ;)
    Thanks again for the video!

    other YT material on this adjustment recommend not doing it because it could cause long term damage, and the change in boost is only temporarily since the ECu will automatically adjust as well?
    It is also a fix for a common 'rattle' coming from the rod when it sits a bit loose. I've adjusted the rod a few turns but now (15k km later) I have misfire faultages. Are you sure adjusting the tension on the wastegate is harmless?

    Not to ask a dumb question, but is the role of the wastegate is to rid the engine of excess air ( turbo) pressure upon decelerating, or does it control the amount of boost as the the air rushes into the intake cycle, thereby providing the extra power boost? Also, I am considering buying one of these cars. Are there good and reliable performance mods avail? Thanks guys :)

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  Před 9 lety

  • @Sorhabwesley
    @Sorhabwesley Před 9 lety +1

    When I think of a car with a turbo, I hear the air being released after the engine is revved up. The dart recycles that air....seems like it keeps the RPMs up in doing so. Is there a way to make the air release rather than push it back through the engine?

    • @Khoff450
      @Khoff450 Před 9 lety +1

      Yes there is a way. Air that is going back though the engine uses what's called a recirculating blow off valve. What you're looking for is called an atmospheric blow off valve. And being that the 1.4l turbo dart has been out for a few years I'm sure you could find a bunch of companies that sell them. But in all honesty, I'd just leave it as it is. It makes the best power recirculating.

    does it harm the engine in any way?

  • @smartin8449
    @smartin8449 Před 6 lety

    What does that actually do for the car?

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  Před 6 lety

      It will allow the turbo to remain at a higher pressure for a longer period of time keeping the engine running in the "power band" longer.

    Also, and I just have to say, as a huge Fiat and Alfa Romeo fan, this car is basically a Fiat Abarth with 4 doors! You guys DO know that the engine and transmission are all Fiat and the Chassis is Alfa Romeo Giuletta from Europe? :)

    Does this improve 0-60 time

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  Před 9 lety

      Daniel Sheriff I have not tried a before and after timed run but judging by the increased response I would say that it will improve the 0-60 time. Thanks for watching

      Is this in anyway bad for my dart, does it stress the engine

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  Před 9 lety +3

      Daniel Sheriff This is a common fix the the under-boost code that has been known to pop up on this year Dart. The manufacturer will actually do this adjustment if your Dart continually displays the under-boost "alarm" or code.
