Florence is such a marvelous, and sometimes almost magical city that is so rich & dense with history, culture & beauty (on basically every level and form)!
I will always cherish my memories of the time I was privileged to live there!
This Baptistry features an exceptionally extended & clear reverberation allowing one to, in effect, harmonize with oneself easily creating triads.
And the doors feature wonderful, famous bronze reliefs.
And the duomo next door is absolutely spectacular and almost overwhelming in so many ways!
But honestly... The view from the top of Giotto's bell tower beside the cathedral steals the cake on a clear day! You can see the entire city and into the rolling fertile hills of the Tuscan landscape with the Alpenine mountains on the northern horizon.
It was my favorite Italian city! Is see why Leonardo da Vinci wanted to stay there as long as possible!
Questa è l'Italia che amo !!!! Lavoro, bellezza, cultura.
I would cry if I saw this in person. Just imagine seeing something as old and beautiful as this is?
I was there two weeks ago, I can confirm there were tears. The entire city makes me cry every time I visit and every time I have to leave it.
I was there two weeks ago, I did the restoration tour that allowed me to see the work up close. I was the only one in the tour that day, so I'm letting everyone know that it is available and worth it!
What an incredible restoration!
Firenze! It was the best place I've been in Italy.
Love Italians and their magnificient cultural deeds from South Korea 🇰🇷♥🇮🇹

Fantastico! Grazie da Texas! Una storia di grande importanza!
I am from Florence . Thank you for making known the extraordinary science and craftsmanship of the people preserving our treasures 🙏
Great restoration job.
🙏🙏
An absolute marvel of humanity
The architect is right.
Art belongs to everyone. We made it to please God, but it belongs to all mankind. Everyone should have the chance to see and enjoy this art.
Thanks for sharing this story I would never heard of.
Oh my god, that's the church from assassin's Creed 2! 😅 That church is indeed a masterpiece, a museum by it self. Well done Italian people for saving this.
I would cry if I saw this in person. Just imagine seeing something as old and beautiful as this is? 😮❤
Anch’io. Me too! It’s magnificent

Dante knew these mosaics of heaven and hell when he wrote his Divine Comedy.
...and he personally broke part of the baptismal font to save a drowning child!
To be noted the relevance of entities like "Friends of Florence", a US non-profit organization which not only supports the Galleria degli Uffizi but other arts interventions as well. Treasures like the Battistero are world heritage which should be preserved at their best for everybody. The cost of preservation is sometimes prohibitive and often not understood by most. Any support is crucial.
It's such a complex project to just *restore* this in the modern day, it's mind-blowing that it was built almost a thousand years ago.
I've been there & I've seen many historical & beautiful buildings, artworks, etc...
Everywhere I've been & seen sites like these I also notice the reality around these sites and how people have become numb, indifferent & accepted it as the norm. I was Greece last summer & I was in awe of the historical sites, but disheartened by the abject disenfranchisement & desperation of the people. There is going to be a breaking point that will spread across the globe, which doesn't have to happen.
Great work
I climbed 460 steps and fortunate look at paintings closely
Wow, everyone's English is getting so much better.
❤😊
Amen. Glory to lord God.Christ.
Begone Demon!
Italy has such a patrimony that shows the love for the church and our history.

Use the money for the poor !
Not mutually exclusive - money can be spent on helping the poor and preserving priceless treasures.
Are you Italian? why do you care?
Chiedi al tuo governo perche’ spende miliardi di dollari in armi. Quanti ne avete mandate in Ucraina o Israele. Quanti poveri sfamavi?
You can say that about everything and nothing would ever get built or fixed. Apples and oranges. Yes poor need alot more but not instead of this. In addition
Stop wasting money on this crap
You probably think we should spend it on transgender studies.
