    Just bought a 89 Colony Park yesterday. White w/ wood grain and red interior. It is like driving your living room.

    I had the burgundy version of one of these babies. Man I miss it.

    My 88 colony park ran and drove like it had 250 hp. That 302 v8 was strong. I remember every freeway trip involved me pegging the speedo out every trip. It would zoom past 85.

      The fuel-injected 302 was a real champ. Super smooth and pulled strong.

    I'm surprised that they did not show the extra seats in the trunk of the Colony Park. That must have been a selling feature in its day.
    If the video was for dealers then may be it would have been useful to highlight some of the ways in which the vehicles were superior to their GM / Chrysler competition.
    Overall, the video shows how sales presentation techniques have changed over the years. No-one could get away with not mentioning fuel consumption, even twenty years ago.

    Same platform as the Town Car but these and the Crown Vic to me seemed more comfortable. I remember the Church Pastor having one in 1988 that was burgundy. It was nice.

    The boxy Panthers looked so much better with the optional brougham roof treatment like this sedan has. The standard roof with the sloped rear window looked dated to me even at the time.

    I always liked the Crown Vic better, but if I was going to pick a Grand Marquis the 88 to 91 look the best to me.

    I hate it when a salesmen starts a scripted sales pitch on a car I already know about. I'm more concerned about how much they are willing to discount it and what they will do for me to make a purchase and to convince me theirs will be the best deal I'll find before I move on to another dealer. There was no shortage of these Grand Marquis back then, but every damned time I'd find the color and options I wanted, it was the hardest to get the dealer to make me the best deal on the one I liked the best.

    I test drove a brand new 1989 Colony Park in Light Titanium with burgundy leather seats, Insta-Clear windshield and trailer tow/dual exhaust. I would have bought it if I had the money at the time. I was in law school so I was basically poor.

    That looks like a small mid size. Where are the famous hidden headlights?

    • @gadget73
      @gadget73  Před 5 měsíci +1

      the Grand Marquis hasn't had hidden headlights since like 1978. The only Panther chassis with hidden lights was the 80-83 Lincoln Mark VI.
