Yes, it happens to me in the same area. Usually flip my locs up over my head but now more often than not I tuck them into a stretchy headband. Easier for me because I have just nine long wicks.

Had 5 almost 6 years freeform, but sleeping and washing became too much of a chore. Having them get stuck while I was trying to sit up was always a pain as well. Cut them back in October, no regrets. Not the end of the story, just the beginning of a new chapter. 🤙

I've been in the loc family for 4 years now and have had the same problem, neck pain and back pain in the mornings. I found that if you put your hair in a ponytail at the very top of your head and then cover it you will sleep more comfortably. I hope it works for you also.

Aww bro, that sounds so painful. Thank you for your transparency. I think many of us with longer locs experience this even when we aren't sleeping.
For example, resting ones head on the headrest in a car. Especially as the driver. A super thick loc can get in the way of being able to properly and evenly rest the head.
I've always slept on my side with the odd occasion of sleeping on the back of my head. And yes, I've had my super thick bongo(I've since separated it into smaller locs) get in the way and cause me discomfort😮.
I wish you a speedy recovery brother. Sending you warmth vibes.

I’ve definitely had this problem Wearing a loc sock doesn’t work for me. It’s too much weight placed on my neck so I just sleep with my hair pent up

bro... too real, I literally have been going thru this for the last 2 weeks, I feel like i pinched a nerve in my neck/shoulder/back and it was a terrible pain to where i couldnt turn my head or my body without super sharp back and chest pains. it has been slowly getting better but my neck is still a bit stiff.
P.S. my dreads are 4 years old and the longest is like 48in long.

I used to wake up with dreads ripped out in my sleep and roll over them while sleeping too. Ended up trimming about ten inches off of them at that time and then eight months later trimmed off a couple more inches because the weight was hurting my neck when i was trying to sleep. But too each there own. I honestly wish i didn't trim any of it now and wonder how long they would have been by now
that im close to twelve years of growing them

My locks are down to my lower back. I just recently cut off like 5 inches because my neck was killing me all the time.
I have never worn anything when i sleep. I just throw them all back if that makes sense. I'm going to have to get something to wear at night though. Lately I've been waking up with creases all over my face from laying on my deads all night. I much be moving around more often lately because this didn't happen before. I guess it's time to buy a tube or whatever it's called. I just get really hot at night and the thought of wearing anything like that sounds super uncomfortable.

Hello knot nation. Need some help. I have been locked for 10 months!. I was going to a loc lady to get a retwist the first 6 months. I went every 3 months but noticed my hair would Itch alot after retwist and the retwist didn't last but maybe a week or two and i like the look after the parts went away. Lol also seemed like the product caused buildup. I stopped going and now wash my hair with water only to see if i was crazy but it seems better. Not sure what to put in my hair or if water is good alone. Im new i need help and dont want to cut them off.

African black soap is great to wash with. No need to visit the locition my guy, just keep in washing with water; cold water is better.
