I love Revit. You always have to find a way to work around something that shouldn't be a problem from the start. And if you bring it up as a problem, only way they care is if people up vote the problem.

Thank you for addressing this problem most of the Revit users face. Although, in my opinion there is no need to create complex panel with additional parameters. Once you apply formula to the parent family file where original mass surface is divided, any pattern based panel of hexagonal shape will adapt to perfection automatically.
Please try this and do let me know too. This will ease any kind of workflow involving divided pattern that you only need to apply formula to control pattern in it's parent family, not in the panel component family.
Thanks anyways for helping out the BIM community. 😊

Hello shoeb could you please explain in brief? The formula to parent family file you are talking about & what does it mean 2* sqrt (3) / 3* X.

Hi there, I got error when I added the formulas 2*sqrt(3)/3*X and it gets warming "There is a circular chain of references among the formulas" idk why that message poped up when I just straight up follow your tutorial, it would be very thank you if you help me with this anyway thank you and cool tutorial!!

Hi Syasa, this may be a silly question but are you certain you typed the formula into the correct place? I did this tutorial at 11pm after a long day in Revit and so when I saw him enter it into the first box I did the same without question and then I realised that my Y and X were the other way round haha. If you have the same problem then at least it is a quick fix! Good luck!
