I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕
Don't forget to wish my big man Gallop a happy birthday! Can you believe he's 8 today?!

So true
The story of my lifee😂
Truth😂😂
This reminds me of a german quote: you don’t get the dog that you want, you get the dog that you need ❤️
That's so true. Its probably true of children too.
Ja das stimmt...Hunde sind der Spiegel der Besitzer
Ich bin deutsch, aber ich habe von diesem Sprichwort noch nichts gehört.
It was like that with my sequined. I was in fully denial that was the animal I needed to work with but it was the est thing to happen to me
Truth! ♥
When I went to one of Mollys speaking engagements I'll never forget Gallop sleeping through her entire talk on stage and him then shooting right up and wagging his tail the second the audience started to clap 😂
Lol cute
Awwww he knew that meant they were done lol
He helped you heal, and you brought him out of his shell. You brought each other to who you are supposed to be.
🥺
This was a legit beautiful comment and helped me as well.
I just wanna say- as much as Molly stands up for things to be easily accessible for blind people, I truly appreciate that she also captions her videos. So many you tubers don’t have captions on their videos and the automated ones are terrible. I can’t speak for every deaf person but myself, but I do know many people in our community that truly appreciate the captions and only watch you tubers with captions such as myself. Thank you molly for not only standing up for accessibility in the blind community but in the deaf community as well❤️ I love you Molly, keep staying happy beautiful❤️
I lost my vision ten years ago and feel
More sorry for the deaf by far.
I watched a video, and the caption for the intro were "don't worry James put your fins!"
The intro had nothing to do with someone named "James" or "fins" lol.
I think it's CZcams default 😬 sorry
@@kerryh3833 no its custom subtitles
@@sheaewart7618 ah ok that's new. Normally I see the auto captions as the only option and it says "English - default" now and nothing about auto-captions so I thought maybe they'd renamed them 🙂
after hearing all of Molly's guide dog stories the moral I get is that the trainers really know their dogs and their people.
If you don't remember Molly didn't want Gypsy either 😅
I’m just thinking about how cool it would be for one of Molly’s viewers (or I guess listeners) to have gotten one of the dogs she tried- then be watching this and hear their dog’s name like “wut? 🤯”
Yeah and then look st the dog "why didn't you tell me you were touched by molly burke?"
I love coincidences like that too!
I loved hearing about the process that the dogs go through at Mira. We live in Montreal and I’ve been considering putting my name on the waiting list to get one of their “failed” dogs as a companion animal for my daughter with Down Syndrome
Service/Guide dog washouts are THE BEST because they come with the most solid basic obedience ever, it's wonderful!
"I just like be that mom where its like milo when he is listening to me, but if he is not listening to me i could be like MISTRAL" omg i watched just that part so many times lmao hahahahaha
Omg thank you for liking my comment I really wasnt expecting you to see it
MISTRAL. God that is funny when you hear her say it like that
15:06 is the timestamp for anyone (like me xD) who wants to watch it over and over ;D
molly: come on in we have a yellow lab named Leo for you.

I started to tear up when you started talking about how Gallup was so similar, but so different and it was making you cry because you missed Gypsy so much. I've been there, and it is so hard trying to let another dog into your heart when it's still hurting from the hole left behind, but I'm glad that despite your hurt, you gave him a chance. Gallup is so incredibly sweet and loving and experiencing him through your videos is a treat
I agree with you
I am with you. Only rabbit are my dogs lol. My first bunny was like Gypsy, when I lost her there was a hole for sure. my second bunny now is like Gallup. My bunny actually looks like Gallup too. All black with a few white spots. I had a hole in my heart that needed to filled. My family knew my little guy was the bunny for me before I did as well.
I would love to see a video telling a professional sketch artist what you "think" you look like.
She had vision until she was 15.......so
She did a video like that with Gabbie Hanna when they collabed a few years ago
@@hahna77 her visual memory disappeared. It doesn't last forever. She has a general idea of what she looks like, but she doesn't fully remember
@@hahna77 She probably cant remember tho
Its funny how gallop got up as if he didn't want to hear the story looool
Lol, yeah I think the chatter was interrupting his nap time 😴
I think the dog you're calling "Ozo" was Oiseau, which means bird in French.
Or "Oso" as bear in Spanish :)
@@LittleDream99 Another possibility, for sure. My guess is the French word because the school is in Quebec.
@@JennaGetsCreative Molly did say that they use other languages to name their dogs and 'Oso' is a simple enough word to use as name. If Molly called him "Boso" it makes more sense for the word to be that :)
Gallop is a bear, not a bird - looks and personality 🐻😊
HAHAHAH
It’s Bella’s 1st birthday today. She’s my service dog. Bella and I wish Gallop and happy puppy birthday
I hope Bella has a good birthday! ❤
Adri She got to walk around the shopping center with my boyfriend, who she really likes😂
aww HAPPY POOCHIE PUPPY BIRTHDAY
Happy birthday Bella. Sorry I have a question, is she a fully registered trained guide dog? If so I didn’t know they could be at such a young age. Or are you still going though the process, how is she going? Is it difficult. I know it’s very expensive. Goodluck!
Jay Anason so first off in the US there is no such thing as registered service dogs. Bella is owner trained by me with help from a professional. She is a multipurpose service. And yes guiding is one of them. It is difficult at times cause we are working on conquering her fear of sewer grates.
I can kind of relate in two points:
1. I lost my cat after 16 years. So I couldn't imagine having an other black cat. But then there was Samsa, and it just did fit. I remember right before my decision I called my best friend, literally crying, telling him I feel like I would replace my cat and I'm afraid of recognizing her in the morning and first think it was Filou. My best friend sad: "Don't be a cat racist. They won't be the same, just if they look similar and are both cats. And they don't need to be the same. You will love her in a different way.
And I guess that's what I learned a lot in live: losing someone is hard and you might not love someone the same way anymore. But you will love someone in a different way, which might be equally good :)
The other thing I can relate to is "so calm, so nice, no personality" :D also a thing one of my two current cats brings up. He's made out of live, the nicest little angel, nice to everyone, purring if you just touch him, but sometimes I just find him boring for that hahaha. Sleeping the whole day, purring, sleeping again.
"Don't be a cat racist." - I laughed more that I want to admit
That sweatshirt is the cutest merch EVER!!
YAY!! :D So glad you love it!!
Molly merch is always so cute, I just wish it came in extended sizes up to a 5xl

I agree I LOVE it!
My service dog school also doesn’t pre match their dogs to their clients. They have a similar process to what you described, and I really like that approach! My match is absolutely perfect for me ❤️
What school is that?
Cried. My mom brought me a dog for my 18 birthday (never give a pet as a present unless you know they truly want a pet and have been considering it). And I struggled to connect with the dog for the longest time. I love him and appreciate now but I've realized that he was never meant for me to begin with . He's always been my dad's dog. Bambi really changed my dad's life and I'm forever grateful. When Molly spoke about the trainer telling her that gallop is what she needed it reminds of how I think bambi is that to my dad. Thanks for sharing again. Such a wonderful story teller
I am a bit confused by this story???
donnn 0666 me too. Can’t relate. I can’t imagine not bonding with a little creature at my care.
I kept it together until you said In his voice when he sat down “I know” it got me! Burst out in tears loosing a dog is so so hard! I wouldn’t know how to even handle loosing a guide dog I’m so happy it all worked out and happy birthday big man! 💜

I mean, everyone loves Gallop!!
Gallop being so chill all the time makes it that much more adorable on the odd video when he gets really excited and barks, like when Molly or her Mom comes back from a trip he wasn’t on.

Aww I got a bit emotional when Molly talked about how the trainers knew she needed a dog that could heal her broken heart.♥️🐶
Thinks to self: pretty sure she has told this story before...

Tico is most likely after Tico Brahe, an astronomer who created instruments to measure and fix the position of the stars. He discovered a star in the Cassiopeia formation. His work provided the foundation for a lot more astronomical and physics discoveries. Glad you found Gallup to be your partner.
You mean Tycho/Thyge Brahe ?
Tyge Brahe had a metal nose
Tycho Brahe discovered that we travelled through solar systems in ellipses and not in circles. He found out without the use of telescopes, so it was really an amazing observation with an amazing sense of detail.
I love you Molly! I hope you're doing okay during the quarantine!
Love this story about picking your pup. Can't imagine how difficult that would be. Thnx for sharing your experience.

I LOVE HER SO MUCH
(This is just a paraphrase 😂😂)
I am really interested to see Mollys opinion on changing so many dogs in one lifetime. I mean if they have 6 to 8 working years that means they still have at least 10 years of life and if they can't stay with the original owner... what happens to them? I know Molly has said that Gallop will go to live with her dad (I think), but as a dog owner and dog lover I can not imagine giving my dog away after so many years (even if its to someone very close to me). I know this is the way its supposed to be because of the well being of the owner. I'm just curious how Molly feels about all of this.
She said before that Gallop will go back to Canada not that much for herself, but for Gallop. She said it's hard for the retired dog to see another dog working with it's handler (much like the human feeling of being replaced). She avoids saying he's 8 years old cause she knows Gallop can decide at any time that he doesn't wanna work anymore. I think she's really grasping onto the fact that he's still so goofy and puppy-like and hopes that the time won't come any time soon.
Bigger dogs generally don’t live 10 more years... - the general consensus is that the larger the dog the shorter their lifespan, that is also something I’ve observed in muscle heavy smaller dogs...
The ‘normal’ lifespan of dogs is said to be 10-13 years - smaller dogs often live longer than that, especially chihuahuas are known to live long lives... douge de Bordeaux and Mastifs generally live 5-8 years...
You can se the life expectancy for dogs on petmd.com here -
www.petmd.com/sites/default/files/life-expectancy-breed.JPG
But other than that - with this in mind there is not 10 years more in a dog like Gallop when he decides he’s done working - and even though it’s really sad to think off, it’s maybe more ‘ok’ that the future holds 2-5 years of retirement than 10 years....
Most dogs dont live more than 13-15 years, not sure where you're getting 18. Bigger dogs also tend to live less, closer to 10.
Ivy van i just say i have 8 dogs and one more f my dogs is 18 so big dogs can live to 18 !!!!! =)
They’re two years old when they meet their person. “Working life” begins then.
I can’t even imagine you’re loss. I lost my Goldendoodle after 10 years. I have chronic pain and ptsd and he would just calm me. My everything. I have another one and he’s wonderful but I still miss my forever boy like crazy. U either get it or u don’t.

"I'm not crying, you're crying!" :P love your dog stories.
for some reason, I just remembered this. A while ago you said you've never known a sighted person who can finger read Braille rather than just sight-reading Braille. I can finger and sight-read Braille, and I have perfect vision. I learned because my best friend is blind and was learning so I learned with her haha so, yeah. I can do a thing.

I really appreciate you making this video. One month ago my best friend Ruger passed away and I’m still having a hard time healing. He was with us for 12 years and I’m completely devastated. He was a pit/lab mix and I use to call him my heart that walks outside of my body. My husband and children want to get another dog and I’m so reluctant. Ruger was the perfect dog. He always looked out for me, was there when I was sad and was just a goofy silly boy. It was validating and comforting hearing you speak about your first dog. Ruger wasn’t a guide dog but he was my son/best friend. Thank you!
I don’t know why but I’m crying throughout this video. 😭
Me too! Especially around the part where she was having a hard time and wanting to go home. And when she talked about Gypsy.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one I watched this right before bed and although I'm glad I got to watch it on Gallops Birthday (Happy Birthday sweet boy!) It might take me a while to fall asleep

You're a very nice incredible person idk how anyone can dislike you or seriously dislike a sweet video about you falling in love with your guide dog. They must be miserable people. Lol
Happy birthday Gallop. Glad you picked Molly to be your mama.

Gallop is your tug boat. He pushes and pulls you through life's waves, helps keep you steady and keeps you safe. He is solid and dependable and predictable. He will also take command at the most important times to take you safely into the harbour. Gypsy was a speed boat, she went fast and skimmed you over life's waves and got you out of some dark times fast with the glamour of a vintage teak speed boat on the French Rivera.
The new merch is so cute i cant wait to buy the dogs before dude’s phone case
YAY! So glad you love it!! :D
Molly Burke hai molly! I would’ve commented earlier, but school....I should probably go finish that...
I keep dachshunds and have done for 30 years. I don't have a working bond with them. They're pets but I love them like family members and the loss of one tears me up for a long time. We lost our Frank at Christmas time and we're coming to terms. Our other dog needs a new playmate so we're gearing up for that now. They just don't live long enough. Big hug to you. I'm so glad you eventually bonded with Gallop.
I'm so happy to hear about the history of Gallop and Gypsy. Love the blue hoodie, definitely want one. Still haven't gotten my stimulus check😓 and it's awesome you're on tick tock. Love you and stay safe 💖🦄
Love your story of how you met and bonded with Gallop! I’m a proud Service Dog life partner with my PTSD dog Darcy. She is a long coated black Labrador Retriever.( Stunning, Sweet, & gorgeous!) I know it’s a totally different bond than a guide dog. That being said: I know the bond is like nothing any “pet dog” owner can ever understand. We are half of each other ❤️ We Learn SO MUCH from each other! If I go somewhere and she isn’t with me, I feel like I’m missing my arm leg or my vital organs. It’s a deep profound relationship & partnership that is indescribable.
Looking forward to hearing about your lifelong partnership with Gallop ❤️
It's not just between the first two guide dogs that's difficult. My first dog was a chihuahua named Freya. She was so sweet and had this little prancing wiggle in her walk, but she was 7-9 years old when we adopted her, maybe older. So after only about, I wanna say 5-6 years, she passed away and I was devastated. Only a month later, this dog that had been abused and was covered in fleas pretty much is forced into our laps (mine and my mom's). We weren't ready yet, but we didn't really have a choice but to at least take him away from that horrible situation.
Because he was abused, he had issues of course. He was food aggressive, didn't want to eat dog food, didn't really like me at all, and was protective of my mom, so I couldn't even hug her good night without him growling at me, and I hated him.
At first.
It took a long time for him to grow on me, but grow on me he did. He was a Chinese Crested Powderpuff (purebred) and had to have his teeth pulled, so he had this doofy tongue poking out the left side of his mouth and these enormous satellite dish ears and all this fluffy fur. He was so freaking cute and he became my grumpy old man within about a year.
Now I have an adorable chihuahua named Pippin (after the Lord of the Rings, because he's a fool of a Took if you've ever seen one) and is super submissive and adorable and hyper and loving, lol. His version of Gallop's goofy sit is his 'resting bow' I guess you could call it. If he's ready to go somewhere but has to wait, he'll just go down into a bow with his tiny little butt in the air and rest his head on his paw (so cute).
I don’t know how or why anyone, let alone 55 people, would dislike a sweet video of you telling a story about how much you love your dog. They must be just miserable people during quarantine or something like that so I don’t hold them to it but I don’t think if everyone were in their usual, normal mood there wouldn’t be more than 2 dislikes. It’s not you, it’s not them, it’s quarantine
If it was spelled t-y-c-h-o, then he was named after an astronomer and writer named Tycho Brahe.
Aeron Saffran cool
Happy Birthday, Gallop! 🦴🍗🥩🥓🎉 Thank you so much for your guide dog videos, Molly. My doctors and PT’s have really been pushing for me to get a mobility dog and I have been fighting it. My German Shepherd, Lucia, died in August. She was a rescue that served as my at home service dog on instinct alone, no training. Lucia would come with me outside the house frequently to places that allowed dogs, but only in a companion capacity. I reached out at one point to see if I could take her through certification, but they would not allow her to enter the program because of her age and bad hips. Lucia would help me balance, brace, help me up off the floor, and she even saved my life when I was choking a few years back. When she left this world, she took a large piece of my heart with her. I still find it difficult to think of bringing another dog into her house, so I really feel what you were saying about your girl. I’m afraid that I’ll try to compare any dog that comes along to her, and that’s not fair to them. It’s just that our girls were so special, so perfect. It’s like Lucia and I knew what the other was thinking or feeling, even with the huge canine/human language barrier. I guess what I’ve been trying to say is that you gave me a lot to think about after watching this video. I feel like your experience has given me a little push towards sending in that application that’s been filled out and collecting dust since September. Thank you so much for all you do and who you are. ❤️
i love molly even more when she's blunt & grumpy lmao
Ohhhh yes ok this hoodie is the most tempting piece of Merch I've seen. Going to check it out and see what fabric it's made of! 🤞
Oh man, guide dogs always have the strangest names. Especially the sponsored puppies. I think often about the visually impaired people out there with dogs named Honda (like the car brand) and shudder. I'm glad Mira allows you to rename them!
Pippapotamus maybe it’s because those names are less common to hear so the guide dogs will know that the command is directed at them ?
A friend of my parents has a guide dog called Vodka ahahah
Devon Zach I didn’t even think about that! That honestly could be the reason... if not they are using a random name generator 😂😂
A couple days ago, I found a video from last year on the channel JerryRigEverything. He went to Kenya with his paraplegic wife to visit a school.

I can totally relate to what you are saying. I got my first service dog in 2004 just before graduating HS and starting college. I had just turned 18, was still young and very introverted. The dog I was matched with actually picked me. Everyone in the class including the trainers all saw it. He glued himself to my side. He was such a calm, wise soul and was exactly what I needed at that pivotal point in my life, that time when you're no longer a child but not quite an adult. He passed at just over 14 years old (he was a black lab/golden retriever cross). He worked all the way up until he was 10 years old before he started having ACL issues. By that point, I was older and in graduate school for my Masters. I didn't apply for my next dog until after he passed. I knew he was too sensitive to be able to handle seeing me leave the house with another dog and I didn't want to cause him to grow depressed and end up passing away sooner than need be. In 2017, I was matched with my second dog. He's a yellow lab/golden retriever cross named Ralph. While he does have his goofball moments, he's much more subdued than my other dog. While my first dog had this wise older gentleman attitude, Ralph is a shy young boy. He tends to be more observant and reserved, unless he's playing with other dogs then he's a bull in a china shop LOL. But I think overall the dogs know what you need when you need it. I needed that wise guidance from my first dog. I needed him to take the lead and ground me so I'd feel confident. Now, I'm grown up. While Ralph and I are a team, I feel like I'm clearly the leader in our pairing. I couldn't go wrong with either dog. Both are sweet, they learn new things quickly, and are always willing to please. It's amazing what these dogs can do and how much they change our lives. I know for a fact that I wouldn't be where I am now without them.
Ah man this has me crying 😭💙 thank you for sharing your stories.
You had me teared up when you started talking about how the trainer knew you needed him to help you heal. I felt that.

Hi Molly, I'm just coming from a George to the Rescue video of him renovating Anastasia Pagonis's house. I had to immediately subscribe and hit that alarm bell, because you being the inspiration and kind of a lifeline for a girl who went completely blind really hit home. Please continue to be that role model for those who are blind. You're definitely someone I admire.

*May is also dog month for me!* My chihuahua, Chip, was born on 5/5/2005 and tomorrow he will be 15!! i love him more than words can ever say💛
Huh. This was really interesting. I would love to go to Mira for the experience because it's nothing like what I've experienced. Yes, most U.S. schools do pre-matching, some way more than others. It's funny that you said you can't imagine going to a school that pre-matches; I can't imagine going to a school that doesn't so it would be a fascinating and a learning experience. The school I got my dogs from try to have at least two to three potential candidates when each person arrives.
The dog geek in me would love to see the different training techniques and equipment Mira uses.
Happy Birthday Gallop Keep Smiling Molly
"did i sound like an angry Russian woman"
i'm dead :)
Happy Birthday, Gallop!!
Here in New Zealand the guy dog school does pre-matching and also naming the letter for the letter like a B etc and for me hearing your story how you got matched with your guide dogs made me kinda jealous because I had pre-matching and my guide dog Minnie was prettymatched to me I did one year earlier like a couple of months working with other dogs that came to my house but she was the one I got matched with and she ended up being retired four years after I got her and about two or three years after I worked with her she went to someone else because I could just tell right from the beginning that although our personalities were very similar she was just too slow and I needed a guy dog that was faster like I don’t really know what happened with the matching but sometimes they don’t match the dogs perfectly and I now have her as a pet but
Greeting Molly! My heart skipped a beat when you talked about Mira! I live in Québec and Mira has always been my cause. I was even privileged enough to visit their training center, the nursery, etc.
Happy birthday, Gallop! You’re the cutest dog ever!!! 🐶❤️❤️❤️
Happy birthday gallop! I feel like grump has been a mood since quarantine. I am so done with quarantine too. I am sick of my parents. I only talk to my parents. It is weird how much I miss school. I am an only child.
It's my dog's birthday too! (We don't know his actually birthday since he's from a shelter but today's the anniversary of the day we got him)
Faith Karl what’s his or her name?
What we refer to "Happy gotcha day"! :)

You are truly amazing. No matter how much you deal with you remain a lovable, cheerful woman. Idk how anyone can watch your videos and not feel cheered up. You're a skydiving, take on the world badass.

Happy Birthday Gallop. Molly, I am actually training my own Service dog, she is amaizing and she is my first. I have Epilepsy and breathing issues and PTSD. Sandy my service dog alerts to all my medical needs and even reminds me when to take my medications. Due to my seizures I have lost some of my memory so it is hard for me to remember simple tasks like taking meds and other daily tasks that need to be done, Sandy reminds of these simple things. I have an alarm that vibrates on her collar because the sound will send me into a panic attack and then a seizure she has learned the different vibrations and what I need to do when that vibration goes off. I trained her of this because my condition is progressively getting worse and eventually I will have no memory and will not be able to walk, with every seizure it gets worse.I have a live in care provider that helps out with training and my care and will begin training a new service dog pup soon. Sand is by no means about to pass but she has recently been diagnosed with a debilitating disorder herself so soon she will no longer be able to perform her duties and this saddens me.she loves her job and is very good at it but with arthritis in both hips she will not be able to continue. Her vet is recommending we begin looking now for a puppy and start training.
Ok not kidding but I was literally binging all ur dog vids and was trying to look for this vid 😂
