- Should it be 10 Pro against similarly outfitted VRD Carbon? Probably. Do I have a loaner Stance here and no VRD? Yes. SO you get what we have here today.
P.S. Don't buy a Stance.

I’m just starting this video, but this is your wheelhouse. You’re doing gods work, thank you.
I dig the color choice for the 10Pro body. Made it look good even if it ain’t a “pretty” body on its own!
I bought a stance as I was new to the hobby and wasn't confident enough to tackle building up a kit. Knowing what I do now I would definitely go with the kit. That being said I'm still enjoying the hell out of my Stance
If Vanquish had made it clear what they were taking away from you in exchange for the RTR bits, I think you might have found the confidence to build the kit.
I have a VRD Carbon and really love it. I put Desert Lizards on it with short soft spring under the pistons and medium, medium springs on top running with rod ends down and 40-wt oil. I didn't build the stock shocks knowing they weren't the best. But the truck performs well in my area. I put a Jconcepts Killa' body on to keep the weight down. As per usual have the HW Fusion Pro in there and a small 2200mAh battery on the left side velcro'd to the transmission braces.
When using a Stage Killah body, the sliders either need removed...or as I did...bent them upwards and bend the outer lip to match.
Nothing wrong with Desert Lizards. They only get trashed on by what I would classify as elitists.
@@CrawlerCanyonexactly. I’m blown away at how many people poop on DL, only to say they couldn’t tune them right and gave up 🤦🏻♂️
@@CrawlerCanyon yes...for a reason or two ....an elitist here 🙋♂
Shocks and add the tiny links to the throw away pile of parts as well... stance is i think 24% fixed overdrive....maybe a sweet spot...who knows... but you made that pro body look pretty spectacular
Tellin' it like it is, and I'm here for it. Looks like the VRD Carbon will be the way to go. I can understand why some prefer the Axial, but the Stance makes no sense to me.
They both are extremely capable. Pretty close if I was to evaluate each on all the obstacles you ran today. But. I think I know where it's going when you add all the benefits of the carbon plus the electronics of your choice.
Stance vs carbon vs pro vs pro on portals🤯
That's like... $1800.
@@CrawlerCanyon haha you've got 3 out of 4😉
You need the carbon with the twin and both servo options installed. That’s weapon grade crawling. Yeah the weight will go up, but it’s giving you all the tools, to do all the things.
I run some cheap rubber bands on my Carbon to keep the chassis sucked down which makes it and my Pro nearly equal in all aspects. Of course the portals ride higher than the straight axles which gives the edge to the Pro as far as sidehill crawling. They're both fantastic performers and I run the snot out of them every week.
That emerald green ❤
IMO the 10pro needs a set of SSD front axle weights.
the 1060esc is good for winch applications!
I took some of the overdrive out of my VRD kit when building it by swapping portal gears. Thought this would surely suit my preferences better. I also put the effort into adding the VP dig unit (because I gotta have dig in that kinda truck) and the thinking was that with dig, I didn't need as much OD. Now after all of that I am tempted to go back and try the stock OD ratio due to all that has been said about it on this channel.
At least I didn't spend on the portal gears up front, as I had them lying around from an Ultra or Phoenix kit that came with the "overdrive" gears all round.
I have been fussing with the same things, the VP portal gears are actually more under and over drive gears, the meus portal gears are actually in between the two, worth a mess about. more options are better for sure.😊
I still think that something between 20-30% in the Carbon would be more versatile. The 38% just doesn't work some places.
@@CrawlerCanyonI replaced the standard portal gears in the rear of one of my carbons with the OD ones to even it out and only have the 21% in the trans. I like that way better than the 38%. I’m sure the 38 is great for comps but I don’t do any of that so 21 is way more versatile.
@@CrawlerCanyon this is the reason for the meus gears, it splits the 17% from the VP portal gear sets in half so you can get the 21% from the transfer case and the @8.5% from the protal, @29.5%, this is pretty close to your desired 20/30 od
The bottom half a hot dog bun😂
LET'S GIT IT ON!!!!!
Love my Stance!!!
Nice comparison, I’m really curious what makes the Pro so stabile and planted, even with the higher CGH🤔 shock & spring setup? Link geometry? What do you think?
Geometry, and straight axles. Even if the overall CGH is lower on the Stance, the roll center is still lower on a straight axle. The rig can't exert as much leverage on the sidehill. I don't have the parts on hand now, but will start accumulating enough to throw a pair of F10 straights on a VRD to see what that does.
@@CrawlerCanyon sounds great 😊 the unstable feeling of the VRD downhill and on sidehilling is exactly what we experienced. We added self made weights ,65g per side in the front to the stock knuckeweights and 50g self made rock magnets per side in the rear, this made the rigs much more predictable
Were the front or rear portal gears changed in the Stance? You said 6.5% OD but the stance come with 24%. 6.5 in trans and 17-18 percent in the portal gears. Standard in the rear and OD in the front to bring to 24%.
It's not mine, I didn't touch it. I would never, ever, ever buy a Stance, so I wouldn't know the final OD.
@@CrawlerCanyonme neither, my son has one and like you, I hate that body. Carbon is much better and the trans alone is worth buying the carbon kit. Sintered ring/pinion is also garbage. I have shredded the ones in my Fordyce and H10 Optic and then you are spending $90 to replace with machined
@@andrewhead4365 I think we figured out it's around $700 to turn a Stance into a Carbon. Absolutely criminal.
@@CrawlerCanyonyeah I made the mistake up buying the parts to upgrade my sons trans to carbon spec and it was almost $200 and then $90 for ring and pinion. That’s why I now have 6 carbon kits, the parts alone are great to have around
Scx10 pro has steering stops that limit steering. Can get over 15 degrees more with those shaved
I run no stops at all on my brass set of 10 Pro axles, and they simply don't get the same steering angle as an F10.
Been looking forward to this one. Gonna go watch it in bed as it's 00.41 here in the UK
Today's PSA..... "Don't buy a Stance!!" 😆
The 10Pro is… Lizzy? The Fence? Lizzy The Fence?
Love my Stance it performs. Show me anybody that buys an RC and I’ll show you someone that starts buying upgrades immediately.
The Stance RTR would be overpriced at $399. At $499 it should be considered a crime.
In the video it (Stance)clearly outperformed the Axial dispite the obvious bias.
@@victorslater9931 The only excuse anyone can reasonably offer for buying a Stance is ignorance-- they simply didn't know any better. There is 150% the purchase price of a Stance in upgrades on the VRD Carbon. The RTR trades a body, plastic wheels, mediocre tires, and $25 worth of electronics for $700 worth of hop-ups.
I definitely didn't see an outright winner in this versus.
Swap electronics between the two and run it back . I built vrd carbon kit and it is finely tuned and is a line killer.
VRD Carbon ≠ Stance RTR
@@CrawlerCanyon just for Giggles I would like to see the pro on The Stance Electronics. And the pro electronics that you were running in the stance. I think it would be a great way to demonstrate how important good electronics are to those that are new to the canyon.
I look forward to the Vrd carbon versus stance vrd RTR I believe this is going to be a really good video.
Prepare for the Stance haters, you said "Dont buy a Stance" enough times to make them angry 🤣
Its nice to still have some kits available, but how expensive would it actually be to build something like the 10 PRO just buying the parts ourselves? Or something even better. MEUS axles, gearbox of your choice depending on what you want (dig, a small box...), fake Dravs Big Bores or Desert Lizards... You already have the important stuff for 150-200 bucks
Idk, its probably just because of my budget, but im not going to buy a kit ever if I can build something really close to it with aftermarket parts. I want a Phoenix tho
damn I'm early this time
Wagwan Canyonaeros 👊
Damn, I'm late this morning. 😅
#dontbuyrtr
Anybody who is seriously involved with performance cars will ever buy a RTR. Period
They are both overpriced
Compared to what?
@Ayrton....please don't say "Ascend fusion" ...please😅😅
