    I flew as a military passenger in a C5 Galaxy from Rhein Main Air Base, Frankfurt, Germany to Dover AFB, Delaware in 1979.
    Passengers sit on top , seats facing backwards with only an occasional porthole to look outside. Best long distance flight I ever took, lots of leg room between seats for 76 passengers, and flight only cost me about $10 for the in flight box meal. 🐶🤡 Great camera work !

    If anyone is interested, the USAF Designation for the C-5M's engines is: F138 GE-100. This engine is better known as the CF6-80C2B-1, and is part of the same family of engines that power the E-4B Nightwatch NAOC, the KC-10A Extender, the VC-25A/Air Force One, and the new KC-46A Pegasus Tanker.

      This is the new, more powerful "M" model. I spent the last 14 years of my childhood getting to be an amateur planespotter. My father was in the U.S. Air Force. I have always loved watching C-5's and C-130's as they were always around and still are well over 50 plus years later. We were stationed at Ramstein AB West Germany during my senior year of high school and we had frequent C-5's coming and going. The high school at Ramstein is only a few hundred meters off the center line of the bases only runway. It was a particularly blustery, rainy day in early November. We were outside doing our JROTC Color Guard practice for an upcoming event when all 5 of us heard the tell tale "banshee" howling of a C-5 taking off and thought nothing more of it as we huddled in our winter jackets and kept marching around the football field. Fast forward about 120 seconds and we were still hearing those screaming engines and we, almost as one, all stopped to look over our shoulders and that C-5 literally looked as if it were being held motionless by some impossible force, yet it was still pointed skyward. We all just stood there, praying under our breath and willing that beast upwards and onwards. Finally, after what felt like 15 minutes (was probably 2 to 3 minutes) she was clearing the tree lined horizon and we all just stopped for a second to make sure all of us had just witnessed what felt like a miracle against the laws of physics...
      Beautiful aircraft with a sound completely its own...

While I like the scream of the TF-39s on the C-5A, they are still distinctive planes and it is still good to see these birds flying. Great video! Being that you mentioned this is a C-5M, you might want to update the engines on your info sheet. They are no longer TF-39s (miss that familiar whine!). They are now GE CF6-80C2. Thanks!

      Thank you very much for watching. Ohh, didn't know that, I got the info from a spotter website, it's sometimes not that easy to get the info about military aircraft. Regarding the G650: I only mention an aircraft if it is the object that I intend to film, in this particular case it was the Galaxy. If i had to mention all aircraft in the frame the titles would become too much at some point, so I reduce it to an absolute minimum.

      @AltonMoore Před 4 lety

      I used to live off of the arrival end of Bergstrom, and with the grinding whine of those old engines, plus the fact that the airplane looks like it's moving so slowly because of its size, I was convinced that every one of them was on short final to an imminent crash! Hah, quite a plane.

    Love these. I live, literally, a stones throw from Wright-Patterson. In no way do I condone such action, I could throw a rock over there fence. My father ( God Bless Him ) was an aircraft mechanic on W.P.A.F.B. I spent a few nights while he was working Mid Nights on the flight line. Sadly, the C5s have left us. We have the rather puny C17s here now. The C5 has a sound which I love to hear. Self supporting statement here; I have a couple videos from action here. My old neighbor and I got run off one night but the M.P.s told me that I could keep the footage.

      My father worked on the C5-A Galaxy at Kelly A.F.B. He used to tell me stories about them and what he worked on. He painted them at one point then he worked cleaning the engines and in sheet-metal. I loved the roar of the old engines. I still see them fly over everyday and it brings back fond memories of him 😪 I hope it brings you good memories too.
      Thanks for posting, I bet it was a real surprise seeing one land over there. I've thought of posting videos of all the action I see at Lackland A.F.B. - A.W.A.C.'s, different jets, other cargo planes, and some Boeing planes since they have a plant down here. Maybe I will since so many people don't get to see them often and so many are interested.

      Is it a coincidence that the blue whale is the largest whale and the A346 (in this case with a blue livery) is the largest aircraft that can use this parking position? Anyway, thanks for watching, glad you've enjoyed it :)

      Well done. Richard. Designers are undersung heroes unless their product has "sex appeal", as in fashions, architecture, etc. Few realize the sheer quantity and import of the myriad good decisions a designer/team has to make to launch a successful design. Look around, everything artificial thing that you see is the product of some human's thoughtful creativity, much taken for granted. Respect and cheers!
