Ive noticed that a lot of Pros think PacMan is better than Snake. Better at camping and better at boxing. Runs faster. Safer moves
@@NVS_Snake yeah I love snake but his one saving grace is his kill power is over all better (outside of really dumb kill confirms) and he definitely has the best ledge trapping in the game, oh and I also think his edge guarding is really good but some disagree

One of my favourite things about following Larry on Twitch are the sneak peaks I get into the next character he'll cover. As soon as I saw Pacman in his title the other day, I got super excited!

Pac-Man is a jack-of-all-trades, but a master of all.
Master of all is a bit of a stretch since he's definitely not a midrange fighter nor can he compete with the rushdown characters
@@innokawabata1168 BS he can’t compete with rushdown. he can box up close better than a large number of the cast. midrange zoning means nothing to him either bc his zoning is also broken. he has an answer for everything

the up b doesn't hit shield anymore the unblockable thing is just a smash4 thing

Why does a multi-hit dash attack have like zero frames of endlag? Lol. I play Pacman sometimes and that move still throws me off every time. If you can time it you can jump out of the hits on shield, but on the other hand you can also get a free followup if people fall out of the last hit. It can also combo them into a lot of things if you hit them against the hydrant, which will break it and hit the opponent. The dash attack (or side b) also negates the pushback from the water so you don't have to time it around the water spouts.
His biggest issue is definitely his Up Tilt and the Up Air making him rise. Almost all of his combos and easy hydrant breaks are all horizontal.. Even if your standing right on top of the hydrant you can't hit it with up tilt or sh up air, and Up Smash whiffs so you can't make it launch straight up from the ground.

you can hit it back at him and pressure him through it if you know what you're doing

And yes there is counterplay but is very match up reliant, a lot of characters have no option but to put of with it, like if you dont have a strong disjointed up air like ivys or shulk, you really cant help but to let pacman land
I think the reason why people dont realize how badly designed the hydrant is, is because pacman himself is not very common
@@amestrisgone lack of experience against a character doesn't make the character good. Every time pacman puts down hydrant, he gets put in endlag and he has to get off hydrant, so you will always have the frame advantage unless you're on the other side of the stage or something. You say it cannot be stopped or punished but thats simply not true and you're probably just giving it too much respect.
@@FlappyCat-ef6oq as a Pac player it depends on who you are. However in the air Hydrant can be clanked with most things and if you're good at juggling you can catch him in the air with no Hydrant and keep him in disadvantage.

Played by an average player, they are both the same tier wise in my opinion. But Roy's sour spots and better recovery give him a higher ceiling, so I'd say Roy overall.
Roy is better i think mainly because he’s so fast and deals so much damage and he also doesn’t struggle to kill at all and his recovery is alot better than chroms
Fun fact: Some of pac's bonus fruits can actually beat out wolf laser.
Shulk is the best zoner if we're getting into technicalities. Sword characters with a few exception are zoners by definition.

You have to fast fall neutral airdodge to snipe the trampoline!!!
Pac-Mans will use trampoline at a distance where he only needs it once.
@@okayperson3041 sometimes it's forced, if you snipe the side b pellet sometimes they will fall low enough that they have to use all 3 up b bounces. It happens in the video, and Larry tries to directional airdodge to punish it. Fastfall neutral airdodge is how you beat that.

@@Delightfully_Bitchy pacman is kind of a set up character he has a bunch of projectiles but can only have 2 out at a time and hydrant and his fruit can be used against pack so there is a way to counter him or disrupt his rhythm
@@Delightfully_Bitchy personally ddd and samus have more annoying to deal with zoning pac gets alot off of his hits but if i can get in your face with a dodge or i catch a fruit and dont throw it he cant zone anymore
@@LODphantom Snake has better tools to zone imo but Pac has better boxing and comparable zoning ability. The character is insane, plus gets more off those projectiles with the combos.

I still can't see Pac-Man as any better than high tier. To me he seems like he's between top of mid tier to middle of high tier. I just think a lot about Pac-Man is overrated at the moment, especially because people just really struggle to understand the matchup.
I think his grab is overrated, it doesn't really have the range of other tether grabs so it can't abuse the safety of the range (it is more active yes but there's not much stopping a character from jumping, that's a free dair > knee).
I think his combo game is overrated. He needs specific combo starters to start actually good combos. And if we're talking about item combos, ROB has better ones (ROB can literally kill you across the stage at as low as 0% with the new tech).
I think his recovery is overrated. It's definitely a good recovery but people really don't abuse a lot of its weaknesses. Floaty characters like Kirby, Ness and Jigglypuff can stall out his side b and hit it. Characters with far reaching projectiles like Link, Villager and Falco can easily snipe him during it. And I don't think I have to explain why trampoline is an underwhelming recovery option.
I think his landing game is overrated, people really just don't know how to do things like bait out hydrant or beat it out with an aerial.
If you ask me, I think there are better zoners, like ROB, Steve, Min Min (if you count her as one), Link (BotW) and Mega Man. But I guess it's all just a matter of opinion, and what kind of potential you see in each character.
Just going to say that people don't rate him highly for no reason.
@@j-meister3284 I am aware of that. I just think that people could use more matchup experience. Even Nairo agrees. It's not hard to think that a character could be overrated due to the lack of exposure that players have to them right?
I agree entirely except for the fact that steve is somehow a zoner. He camps, sure, but his goal isn't to wall the opponent out.
@@Simon-hs7ik Yeah, I can definitely see that. The definition of zoner can be really difficult to remember and apply to different characters, since there are so many different playstyles.

He has different projectiles and a mediocre anvil that can push people away
It can be used in insane traps and combos and Bonus Fruit is stupid versatile

I would think Megaman would be better at zoning then them, but I guess it really depends how one goes about zoning. My strategy is to keep opponents away until I can bait them into a mistake, for example.

I don’t think he’s the best zoner, he’s just the best character out of all zoners. But some other character, that are still worst than pac-man, have a better zoning than him, like samus or mii gunner
But he has better boxing options and disadvantage states than most zoners which makes up for his worse zoning than others. Also Pac-Man has a really good advantage state
