4:18 Most likely overheated brakes, ie not using the engine to control the speed of the vehicle….
In this era where people are less aware of physical normalities an increasing danger!!!
Rules of thumb:
- ONLY use your brakes to slow down for bends, obstacles and so on, be aware that your brakes are designed to do exactly JUST that!!
Using the brakes too much (30 seconds!!) will overheat them; overheated brakes WILL NOT BRAKE!!!
- Use the engine to slow down… if you stil go too fast than use your brakes shortly and shift down!!
Many times the same gear that is appropriate to travel uphill will be the right one to slow down your vehicle enough travelling back down.
If you notice a burning smell: STOP!!!!!
Your brakes are overheated and close to complete failure!!!
Over the years I’ve met several drivers that have been very close to a terrible accident…. All of them unaware!!!!
This warning applies to all vehicles… from bicycle to 18-wheeler!!!
