I'm playing Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz this year, and this is such a beautiful version of the song. Stunning. A bit bright and belty in sound for my taste, but still beautiful.
i liked it. she keeps with the tune and doesn't try to "one up" miss garland.
While on the show "Over the Rainbow" , Danielle's voice was by no means the strongest but she interpreted songs so well and captured the audience with this incredible light that she has inside she was a shoe in to win and she did. Now we can see with just a bit of training her voice has improved vast amounts. She is going to be a stunning Dorothy.
It helped that she resembled Judy Garland the most.
So pure... Judy Garland would be proud :)

L. Frank Baum would be proud of the fact that his stories and characters have been loved by many generations of families since he first published the wizard of oz in 1900. He would be so pleased with the performance of Danielle Hope, and her castmates in the show. So would Judy Garland, Margaret Hamilton, Billie Burke, Frank Morgan, etc.

Just came from over the rainbow bbc tv show!
She sounded different in her cast recording mainly because at the end she full on belted the notes instead of going into her head voice
Ps I prefer this live performance to her cast recording
she has a very classic disney style voice when they made their classic films (ie aladdin, the little mermaid etc.)
The headphone users will be dearly missed but she is a great singer.

There's going to be a very tiny tour (most of the Canadian company!), but they aren't coming to the East Coast. I live in MA, so I'm pretty upset about that. :-(

my advice is this- don't try to sing like Danielle. Instead sing like YOU. No one person can emulate another's performance. As long as you find ways to embody the spirit of the show, and the heart and warmth that is Dorothy, and play the part the way YOU, not Danielle, know how to, you will be an amazing Dorothy. I am sure that Judy Garland and Danielle herself would tell you the same thing. As long as you love what you are doing, and it shows in your performance, the audience will love you.
She is a very good singer who has worked hard with her training and she still has the heart and naturalness to give the song feeling and warmth. So very few trained singers seem unable to incorporate this. Truly one of the best interpretations of Judy's song. I also like her singing the verse before singing the chorus which is very seldom heard. A very beautiful and wonderful interpretation! 🤗😇♥️

Billie Holiday had a range of just over one octave range and she was one of the best singers of all time. What matters is the performance and if it moves you; not whether you can belt a top C or not.

I do understand the comment about having to have a certain range, however somewhere over the rainbow sounds beautiful soft like the way danielle sings it, I dont think this should be a belty number.
