The linking ring were in every magic magic set when I grew up and most kids avoided learning it because it was very complicated. So now, when you see it performed you think you know how to do the trick. It goes way beyond the obvious and still fools us:-) I do so love the skilled magician.
They don't hate it, it's just not preformed well by most people. Ogowa does it very well and came up with a new routine. Dai Vernon also worked the rings, and did it very well (there is a video out on CZcams of him doing a routine). This classic illusion can be done by most people, but few can preform it well.

If you got the ring set in the fantasma magic set like my kid got, you might have to file down the gap in the ring. The illusion is more convincing when you don't need to push the rings through.
