Been playing a ton of Jayce this free week, I always knew he was fun but he was just so intimidating to start (so many skills!) finally started to learn him and after a ton of losses I'm feeling more comfortable. Then I come across this video and I'm like uhhhh....

This guide is actually fucking amazing! Is it just me or does Jayce seem on par with Riven mechanical skill wise?
He's close, I'd still say Riven is more intense, but he's definitely right up there.
riven really isnt hard you just need to learn stutter steping auto reseting and skill shot dodging and then all the fancy tricks become childs play. jayce however has a few tricks that might be impossible to do perfectly without using attack move and target champs only hotkeys. although most of jayces tricks can easily become subconcious/seccond nature if you do a little slow and methodical practice. good luck man and have a great day :)
Misha Gadasin jayce isnt that hard either with the exceptions of a few tricks. his abilities have very clear cut functions i dont know how people could get confused. ya im saying riven is easier to master than jayce.

Riven isn't difficult? LMFAO go one trick Riven and hit rank one then. Not like she has like 15 different animation cancels with hydra and clicking between Q's to cancel the animations like Viktor Q

5:06 actually it can still be done consistently if you stand really close to the target
also about to the skies flash buffering, I sometimes can do it, while sometimes I'll just flash but not q into enemy and stand still
That means the flash didn't get you into range of the ability, or you canceled the buffer with a right click.
I see. This happens especially when I am on Youmu's active, or anything boosts my movement speed.
That jayce hammer gun proc is so hard. Keep trying to get it but can't seem to do it. 5:26

Great vid man but I gotta ask - How are you still in silver if you have been maining Jayce since season 3? Do you feel like he isn't very strong but you just love playing him, or is it more of an overall game knowledge issue. I'm just asking this on the basis of curiosity not to insult or offend.
+Patrick I peaked Gold 1 series to Plat last season, but quit for about 10 months, took me a while to relearn the game so I have yet to climb back where I should be.

All the mechanics are so easy to me :D but i cant get the gate to constantly be horizontal xD
Just practice finding the sweet spot with indicators turned on, then try to replicate without them. I usually aim near Jayce's right heel.

what runes masteries and build paths do you recommend on jayce atm ?
+Jonny Essmann 6 flat Armor pen Reds, 3 flat AD reds, 9 flat Hp yellows, 9 flat cdr blues or 9 flat mr blues, 3 flat AD quints. (The 6 pen reds and 3 ad reds / 3 ad quints is very specific, the numbers are min / maxed to be most efficient.
Masteries 18-12-0 fervor is probably best, thunderlords is good too vs bursty matchups. Stormraiders is good vs things like lux / xerath / ziggs.
Builds are so open ended, theres a lot of viable paths.
Toplane is good to rush Sunfire into IBG and skip tear altogether.
If you go tear, don't get it on you first back as you lose a ton of lane pressure. Get a bunch of long swords on your first back (Ghost blade builds from 4 LS, so grabbing 4 longswords and not finishing the components isn't actually bad.)
Try to still grab tear before 10-11 mins
since you can auto while an opponent is knocked back and you can cancel the animation with the knockback, cant you do an auto - e - auto combo?

I don't understand how did you do the knockback animation cancel... Either I auto attack him and then e (but there's no animation cancel) or i just cancel my auto attack...
You're cancelling the auto attack animation early with E. You can also just E + Auto during the knockback which is better.
Yeah its like mid-air, but there's the other one which i didn't know how to do, so you mean the one during the knockback is also good for the animation cancel combo?

Input buffering the E, using Hyper Charge whilst in melee so the attack speed is maxed which means your auto animation is really short. You can buffer an auto with your E cast so it goes through instantly after.

Spam your W's as you're returning to lane / when moving around. Use non accelerated Q's more often.

A lot of people don't leave the attack command on when idle thing. It's also more about being aware of the auto so you don't cancel it without reason.

I think most of it still works, I know the ranged melee attack was fixed.

when you in canon mode just switch to hammer and take a quick auto at the enemy or some creep . but you must do it fast

Been a while but I believe the only patched thing is the auto attack when you change stances proccing the melee passive from range.

+Martin Husen Takes practice to get consistent, but cast the gate at your right foot. You are basically casting it sideways, but right on top of yourself.

+CPT CAPSLOK It was part of a patch they did with him and elise to make first auto attacks after changing forms feel less clunky. This was the result.
either way it could be a bug but either isn't a big deal or could be like the animation canceling ordeal. not planned but kept

Strong muscle memory and you should almost never fail.
let me ask u. why so many people started building tear-less crit builds instead of old classic tear-yg-bc-lw builds
Games aren't lasting as long. Jayce can snowball harder with earlier power spikes. Lane sustain is less prevalent (no flask + 3 pots). That being said tear is still a very efficient item once stacked, and is still recommended for new Jayce players. The tearless build requires a lot of discipline in regards to mana usage, but can result in harder early snowballing.

There are so many builds being used by high elo Jayce players. There's almost nothing that'd inherently wrong. Just build what you like.
