Race continues to be key factor in SA politics

  • Political parties have long vied for the support of the coloured and
black population, which forms one of the largest demographic groups in
    the Western Cape.
The Institute of Justice and Reconciliation says it could play a
pivotal role in shaping the region's electoral outcome.
Some believe that beneath the surface of the rainbow nation lies a
history marred by the scars of racial division and inequality, giving
rise to the complex relationship between race and politics.
Political analyst Tessa Dooms and Patriotic Alliance head of strategy, Charles Cilliers, ANC member of Parliament, Cameron Dugmore and DA Gauteng deputy chairperson, Pogiso Mthimunye discuss this further.

When the DA talks about the failure of BEE why do they not address the role the private sector plays in corruption. Cyril is a billionaire but he didn’t invent anything, he was just given shares. There has to be conversation around why they are so comfortable inviting corrupt politicians into their businesses. The fact that Cyril was on the board of MTN, Nedbank, Lonmin etc needs to be addressed. The government is not corrupt by itself

I submit to you that if we can only stop the corruption, malfeasance, maladministration, lack of leadership, poor policies, etc. the poor will eventually come out of poverty! Problem is that the ANC is holding the poor ransom with their social programs while robbing them blind!

    • @DurandArthur
      @DurandArthur Před 22 dny

Look, perhaps the DA didn't do enough for the poor, but to say that the DA did absolutely nothing is categorically false. Here's the bigger question: It took China about 30 years to become an economic miracle. South Africa could've been an economic miracle if this ruling party was serious. The ANC had two golden opportunities to completely restructure the economy, but instead they chose to enrich themselves. The ANC is literally holding the poor and the job seekers ransom with social programs that doesn't uplift the poor. Instead these poor social programs sets the poor back by holding them ransom. Look at the Social Relief Distress grant for an example, it should've been a temporary measure to get people working again. There are no jobs and no one can live on the SRD alone. Its better to do nothing than to implement bad policies, loot the SOEs, ruin once great state institutions like education, healthcare, policing and the national defense force, etc... If you do absolutely nothing for the poor and only implement good policies that are pro economy, pro workers and pro investment - You look after SOEs and improve failing state institutions like education, healthcare, policing and the defense force - the poor will be uplifted. The ANC claims to have done a lot for the poor, yet the reality is that year-on-year more people are worse off than they've been the year before. More people are impoverished by the ANC, in fact, the ANC is losing the war on poverty and crime. I submit to you that there's no political party that could be worse than the ANC.

It means that all the other issues, such as intermittent electricity, failing water infrastructure, 40% unemployment of citizens, one of the the highest murder rates in the world, dependency of aid from other countries…..all of those things get put on the back burner… because of the color of everyone’s skin! The most qualified people may not be hired … because of the color of their skin. No electricity because of fighting over color of skin… instead of fighting corrupt government officials! The racists should actually get counseled before gettting into politics to get that out of their system. For all jobs applicants people need to have qualifications, experience and education matters, today even degrees does not mean much . Yet politicians do not have to have any qualifications, nor do they have to necessarily prove themselves or care about the people in this country nor about uplifting the country as a whole. Whoever is in control are just there for their own agendas. Where are true leaders who want to take this country forward, to higher levels, to see South Africans irrespective of color, lives improved? I just do not understand rulers of countries. Should we not be proudly South Africans? Wanting to see a rainbow nation, improvement and respect as citizens of this country? Should we not be working together to build up instead of breaking down this country, its people and economy. How wonderful it would be to live and work together in perfect peace and harmony to uplift the citizens of South Africa as a whole!
Speaking about the poor….the billions of Rands stolen from this country should have been used to impact ALL the poor with housing , education, medicals etc. the thieves are criminals and should be brought to justice and not allowed to be in politics after all we want to follow God fearing leaders who leads with respect compassion integrity and righteousness peace and joy!!!

If you want to live in a successful and prosperous country where people have jobs and where our country's infrastructure, including public schools and especially public hospitals really work, then vote for the DA and Multi Party Charter in 2024 to make it happen!!
Do you know that four out of every five new jobs in SA over the past five years were created in the DA governed Western Cape??

There's no way that togetherness will change anything. Employment equity minimum is a racist policies. The only and best solution is that we must stay in homelands where we can run ourselves as different races. We will then see who manages and run homeland the best.

This country is not a black country , the first people of this country are the koi and San but there is not one of them in a position of meaning in this countries government and there are none in the SABC where their voices can represent their culture just like has happened with the Afrikaaners language has been basically removed from every single advert and other institutions . The historical hatred of the English towards the Dutch has carried on in our countries history since the English arrived in the 1800's till today .

Race will forever be a factor in all sectors all over he world, we must accept it and live with it for the simple reason it is created like that and it is a reality. We are not the same, take for instance the state of this country at the moment and what we have before 1994, there is a huge difference and it make no sense looking for excuses all the time, fact is some people have certain abilities and others not. Take a look at what the Solidarity Movement is doing for its members, why can't other people do the same?

I am SO OVER this conversation. I am not going to apologise anymore for being white. I have gained absolutely zero through my whiteness. I did not inherit anything, did not get free university education, got no university education at all in fact, have to hang on to the same old job for years and years because I dont qualify for the jobs that are advertised. I dont own anything, it appears that I own a house when in fact it is the bank owning it. And everyday I have to hear how entitled I am. NO just NO. The american black populace still have the exact same issues that the SA blacks have. This will never ever end. The victim mentality is real and prolonged and constantly being harped on by useless discussions like this.
