Ligaya ng Kaligtasan (composer's version): original melody by Jojo Revilla-Bueno, original lyrics by Pas Ismael Ansaldo, composed between 1989-1990, Kamuning, Quezon City.
I would just like to share a bit of background knowledge regarding this song, I hope you all won't mind.
The original version on a demo tape (sung by the composer Jojo) didn't sound like this and it was intended as a solo song, not a duet. (Apparently, we didn't know what Arnel de Pano had in mind and how he was going to rearrange it, but it seems that the idea for a duet was due to the apparent high range of the song and Jojo's high voice, so it would have been logical to have a female singer take over the high range). The composer and lyricist would have wanted to make it sound really quasi solemn (and almost dramatic, we imagine in the vein and style of either Steve Green and Sandi Patti, who both served as inspirations to Jojo). I did the original arrangement in the demo (now lost, sadly), and we were careful not to make it sound so pop and secular (preferably steering away from a "Tawag ng Tanghalan" type of arrangement lol).
Not to disparage this papuri version, Arnel's re-arrangement is a nice one although since I was a part of the original endeavor, my preference lies with the original version sung by the composer Jojo himself. To us back then, it serves it's purpose of "convicting" listeners and uplifting their spirits and serving as a "song of salvation".
I had hoped to be able to produce the original version (by doing a more recent recording) and upload it in youtube. However, Jojo and I have lost communication for a few years now, but I'm sure he would be delighted with the idea even with another singer to sing it.
