    That's a great idea for bigger antennas in a small package. There's nothing worse than bumping the antenna on the goggles and knocking the receiver out. Both my Fatsharks and Skyzones barely hold the receiver in place as it is.
    I also just found some really good 4 pin cables that have tangle free fabric covered wire to patch groundstation to goggles.
    Cheers, and all the best from Australia.

    Thanks for sharing this. I have a surprisingly similar 1.3 groundstation with a Clearview rx and never considered the same setup for 5.8. ive got a 5.8 peperbox i used to try to remote mount on a long sma extention, but this is cool. The size is great compared to the behemoth 1.3 pepperbox.

    • @JD_1
      @JD_1  Před rokem

      Yes sir. I have a 1.3 crosshair. It is most definitely massive as well. But it's not needed. Does give better penatration compared to the higher frequency (5.8). But it's not needed when you know how to fly in your antennas reception 😉
      Fyi... Clearview in not really a standard diversity rx. It works better when you use matching antennas with it. There's several videos out there that will explain the difference between Clearview and what regular diversity rx do.

      @@JD_1 I am familiar with the modes of Clearview. It still does a lot of it's magic when in diversity mode. I should buy another Omni though just to see the full power of the Clearview system. I've really enjoyed the pepperbox range combined with the Clearview receiver overall, but I was impressed with your videos clarity. Thanks for the follow up!

      @JamesDowningFPV no problem I am always glad to help and give advice. You have to think of your antenna recipient on the ground as a horizontal cone pointed in the direction you're flying. That's using helical type and pepper box style antennas. Clover leaf or omni antennas radiation pattern is a bubble only. You will not get great range using them. I may do another video about this topic soon. So stay tuned my friend.

    Hey iv been rewatching your video to get my own compact ground station setup. I was wondering if you have tried or fly with others to make a comparison between the Fusion and the Rapidfire for long range? Iv only seen one video that compared them at range, the rapid fire was maybe a tiny bit clearer on average but it was really hard to tell, on top of that that one video they didn't actually go that far.
    As it sounds like you looked in to it when choosing yours I'd appreciate your thoughts if you have time on Fusion vs Rapidfire specifically relating to long range flying.

    • @JD_1
      @JD_1  Před rokem +2

      I do not own or have personally tested a rapidfire. But my the guy I fly with all the time does. For him to get good range, he has to keep the module in a standard diversity mode. He is using the latest firmware. Most of the time, when we're at range using our mini stations, he usually has issues before I do. So the special features of the rapidfire are pointless at range.
      The Fusion at range still works. It will switch between standard diversity and it's magic mode. 2 times I had to reset the module during flight. It gave me a black screen when it got stuck between the modes. I was using a 10 turn helical along with pepperbox... It did not like that combo at all. Using matching antennas or 5 turn and pepperbox it works fines. Been out 10ish miles or so using this.
