  • We're excited that the time has come to begin eating from the land (our new farm in Hawaii). We've been planting quite a variety of fruit and vegetables for eleven months now. Now, with each passing month, the earth is beginning to yield bigger and bigger harvests.
We sincerely hope to encourage everyone watching to take the initiative and learn to grow whatever you can for your family's needs. It's a beautiful experience...one that results in enhanced physical, mental and spiritual health. What's more, food security is a serious and growing concern. We believe it's high time for people everywhere to get back to the land for self preservation.

For Tumeric and Ginger, you don't need to pull all the plant, you can dig and harvest what you need and leave the plant up, growing and producing.

Add fresh coconut cream to the cabbage 🥬😋. Yum yum .
In Solomon Islands we also steam the cabbage with the nut that we have in the islands, not sure what it's called in English, but I know it as ngali nut . Wish I could send you some .
A very traditional way to do it is steam it with coconut cream using hot stones ..ahrrr ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the inspiration for country living .

Great video! It is so interesting seeing the different foods you are able to grow there. Your question is a good one about what we would be eating if we foraged from our own land. If we were eating from my land, we would be having wild carrots, polk, black walnuts, dandelions, and mushrooms.

Greetings! Praise God for all the progress in your property. In our country, once we've squeezed the juice from the sugarcane, we fold it (you can also add a piece of lemon in the middle of the fold) and put it back again. It usually has more juice. You should try that if you haven't. You can also try mint or ginger with sugarcane, it tastes very good! And yes, to answer your last question, I would love for you to make more videos like this one. It is an inspiration! God bless your family and ministry!

I recently stumbled across your channel and what a beautiful surprise! I absolutely love the energy of the Big Island and plan on returning sometime this year to search for a small piece of fertile land, it'll be my fifth visit yet. I enjoyed staying on the east side of the island for almost one year, doing a chef work trade and then getting a place of my own for some much needed quiet time and reflection. You guys have been such an inspiration, sharing your journey with us and not sugar coating it all. Life comes with plenty of trials and tribulations(especially on an island), it's a learning curve for sure.
I remember cooking with tongan, making fresh turmeric and ginger tea in the mornings, and enjoying delicious vegan Ulu burgers such a satisying and nourishung treat👌! I keep doubting myself when it comes to taking a leap of faith to begin my off grid journey, especially as a solo female, but your actions and motivational talks have truly been encouraging:). I was raised in the Syriac Orthodox Church, although I no longer consider myself a practicing Christian, I still 100% believe in a Higher Power. As they say in Aramaic, Aloho Howeh A'mokh (May God Bless and Protect You)! And btw my mom used to tell me about the SDA in Jerusalem where she grew up and said the Adventists were always so kind, gentle, and entertaining (I think she meant "welcoming")💚! Thank you for taking the time to share with all of us, Aloha!!

I'm also trying to relocate to the field outside the village into the farm I started with making a little garden and this garden now I have some sweet potatoes I'm sure they are about to be ready I am eating Swiss chard from the garden there are also peppers that are ready I planted some maize some melons some sweet melons, to make a meal I can get some maize grind maize it's not very dry but you can still grind it in a small grinder or in a in a blender and then cook it like pap I don't know what you call it and then make some greens and make a salad I've got some lettuce too and for a dessert sweet melon so that's what I can eat from my country home I'm hardly relocating there this is my first year and I haven't built a house yet but I've got a shelter there so I can put my cooking utensils I cook with rocket stove outside.
