It is not just the powerful guitar playing, or the virtuoso singing and piano playing. It is the relentless tension, the ravishing and poetic lyrics. This is a huge album.
Sternumagnum, fuck you say? Underappreciated? By who? You sure? How you know is underappreciated? Do the right thing, hide yourself under your bullshits and sleep...
@@alessandromarchesini9039 underappreciated by both the public at large and most critics. That was not just "a good LP". It was brilliant. And now, little Sandrino, I'd appreciate it if you just jog on.
“Songs For Drella” has been one of my favorite albums since it came out. I’m forever grateful that John and Lou were able to put aside their differences long enough to make it.
i don't know much about reed's guitar playing but i love it here and i love cale's natural energy on piano. it's beautiful and this is coming from someone who hates piano.
Listened this morning. Had not played this record in far too many years. Caused temporary, minor side effects. But: Astonishing performances by all!!!! Mr Reed: Mr Cale: and all: thanks
(After enjoying this as much as possible) (and among the many marvels of this collaboration) please take also note that Lou Reed deploys the ELECTRIC GUITAR as it's supposed to be played - a sonic scalpel.
They were both equally talented. Even though I love all of VU'S albums, the first two with John Cale were the most groundbreaking. Nobody can deny that!
Huge fan of the first 2 Velvet Underground albums, but I'm sorry this song and the album it comes from "Songs for Drella" are the BEST thing John Cale and Lou Reed EVER did together. I have always felt a sense of kinship for Warhol (the album was a tribute for the man who had made their *lives*, not just careers), but this song cemented it. We came from much the same starting point to somewhat seperate ends, but Andy drew the map I followed. This is the SOUL of Warhol, Cale, Reed and, oh yeah, Jonathan Warman
This is the one-take they did for the cameras. The guitar solos are slightly different from the album's. Lou Reed lets it rip here, with the static and the amp leakage but a master throughout. Absolutely brilliant track, sheer brilliance.
+TheJustgreg Of course, Lou was a poet who forces you to feel emotions uncomfortable through musical emphasis of the words, the sounds make the feelings of words more intense and alive out off free of the paper
great tekst only hearts coulde see me through and our lights disappearing trhough you I was forever changes briljant texct amazingly brillinat and good
Méltó dal Andy emlékére Lou gitárszólója és John Cale hangja rohadt jó..ebben a dalban:)egyik kedvenc dalommá lett ez a melódia! külön klassz hogy megemlékeznek Edie-ről..s több hires értékes emberről:)
along with Style It Takes and Small Town of course. oh, and Trouble with Classicists, Hello It's me and Images. Also, I really like Work, Starlight, A Dream and the song about Valerie Solanas
Mr John Davies Cale Godfather OG 35% THC delta 9 and I do believe the journey did her well He's the best musician ever but, you have to be one with the galaxy to understand that Unenlightened androids always find fault with him Long Live John Cale !
Those great artists changed my life forever respect rachid
"Songs for Drella" is an authenthic masterpiece!!!!

The whole album is a greatly underappreciated masterpiece. A pure gem, from start to finish.
It took me two years to appreciate this masterpiece. It's always nice when you start to like an album which seemed uninteresting at the first glance)
How about the tension just simmering in the background

I have always considered this album a masterpiece.
Lou is so under rated in the guitarists discussions

Some of his best work on guitar. His passion shines through on all of his work.
That guy John Cale can play two pianos and sing like a bird...what a genius
They were both equally talented. Even though I love all of VU'S albums, the first two with John Cale were the most groundbreaking. Nobody can deny that!
Great song, but this is not really playing two piano's but playing the left and rightparts on two different keybords.
I want to start a radio station that plays only John Cale
He made over 60 albums
I've only heard about a dozen

I first heard this song by John Cale on the Basquiat movie soundtrack. Just wonderful! For me the best Version of Hallelujah ever!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Genius at work.
Lou was at his best here. He and John coulda, shoulda been the anti-Lennon and McCartney.
+TheJustgreg Of course, Lou was a poet who forces you to feel emotions uncomfortable through musical emphasis of the words, the sounds make the feelings of words more intense and alive out off free of the paper
