- A walkthrough of the ZX Spectrum game, Roller Coaster. From the recording originally sent to www.rzxarchive.co.uk/
Recorded using "rollback", a feature of the emulator which allows you to mark a point, which you can then roll back to later if you get in trouble, and try again. More info. on the channel "About" page: / rzxarchive

Dragon's Lair legends :D
A true spectrum classic here, one of my favourite games too😊.
Well done on this play through here👍🏻
This ! THIS infuriated me as a kid ! So many sleepless nights and that haunting noise of the man walking and jumping ffs ! Why ! WHY
I have had the visuals of this game in my head for months, but for the life of me couldn't remember what game i was thinking about. Its just clicked in my memory roller coaster. Happy memories just now watching this :-)
I've got one like that... platformer where one screen was a giant 80's rotary telephone and the music was Bach D minor toccata. Can't remember anything else about it and can't find it anywhere...
@@subplantant Hmm, that phone thing is jogging a memory, but I can't quite place it either! The only platformer I can recall that played Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor was "Fahrenheit 3000" - a JSW-ish budget game on the Firebird silver label. It's not highly regarded, but I was oddly fond of it. The Bach plays on the title screen, with a triangular logo colour-cycling in time with it. No giant 80s telephones in that game, though.
Here you go - the intro music from Fahrenheit 3000:

@@blatherskite3009 Mate! I found it just this year scrolling for the umpteenth time through WoS. It's called The Master and there's a walkthrough here on YT. It's creepy af, really obscure kinda crap platformer which somehow captured my imagination as a kid and finding it was the greatest feeling!
Thanks for this man great to get your comment. Speccy 4 eva!
@@subplantant That's awesome - glad you found it! And cheers for letting me know the answer :)
I know that feeling when you've got images from something in your head but you just can't put a name to it - had that with some arcade game I saw one time on holiday as a kid. It bugged me for literally decades until I finally found it! Feels great when you finally settle something like that :)
All the best :)
Thanks for this, manic miner was my introduction to the speccy. Loved this and technician ted, another was kakatoni wulf or something. So many good memories.
That would be Kokotoni Wilf: czcams.com/video/_cnq4SdcYzs/video.html
My apologies, ladies and gentlemen, however, in light of the fact that Roller Coaster Park has experienced five casualties in the course of under an hour, I have made the difficult decision to shut the park down indefinitely.
I loved this as a kid. Shit on it like but still loved it
The speed of the cable cars at 18:11 always made me laugh! Fuck getting on one of those!
great memories playing this on the specy as a kid
i haved fckin r-tapeloading error on this game, and can't see it, but i so wanted to see, goddamn tapes! thanks. now i know what i missed
Really loved this game, but it’s sooooo difficult!
Also, how did they avoid colour clash on those horizontal lines? I never got that!
Redraw them really fast with one color or another. Two-colored radar in Nether Earth do the same - remember?
Thanks a lot for the longplay! really awesome! I loved this game
You're welcome :)
The gold mine was where I died everytime solid game but I did make it difficult on myself I always tried to do the coasters in one hit no going back n forth
Are you a Jedi Master or something?? This game is difficult!
Hehe, yes it is a difficult game, but a technique called "rollback" was used in this. You can mark a point to rollback to if you get into difficulty and try again. Sort of like saving snapshots, but without the actual saving. More info. in the video description.
Fair play but still some skill, effort and time involved
I played this in a 14" TV with no color nor sound. Sometimes the Spectrum crashed when the fridge motor starts.
this game is not easy to complete
This is easily my favourite of the "Jet Set Willy" style games. Unlike most of them, this one has some nice 'real world' scenery and animals like the dolphins. The actual roller coaster itself is fantastic too. However, I still don't like the physics in these games, the tiny little sprites, the sound effects, or the scrappy, unstylish levels. Sorry! :)
