Jesenice is a small town located on the coast between Split and Omiš, known for its beautiful beaches and secluded coves. Jesenice is often an ideal choice for a peaceful and relaxing holiday although it is only 15 kilometres from Split, the second largest city in Croatia.
The place is characterized by covert bays, beaches in front of private houses and inns, as well as its wooden sailing ships and their old naval tradition of over 300 years. That is why it is sometimes referred to the place of Onassis.
In the past, these wooden ships were called “salbunjera” which were used for the extraction of sand from the mouth of the rivers Cetina and Neretva at the nearby towns like Omiš.
Jesenice is also known as having one of the largest old sailing boat fleets on the Adriatic coast.
These old sailing boats are nowadays being used as touristic attraction still sailing across the Adriatic. Most of these ships are taking tourist excursions, cruises among Dalmatian islands, fish-picnics during the summer.

They plan one month schedule and that 2-3 day captain orchestrate driving of boats. Each year it is spectacle on riviera 😊👍!
