I installed a brand new VRSF charge pipe on my B58 making this engine even stronger. It's always a good feeling to replace that BMW plastic. Even though the charge pipe on the B58 isn't much of an issue for running a stage 2 OTS map, it's still a beneficial and cheap mod to do. It's more like engine insurance so you have less of chance getting stuck in limp mode if the OEM one breaks. Especially if you plan to go Stage 2+, custom tune, or turbo upgrade. Sometimes when you're working on your car, things don't go as planned. If that happens all you can do is adjust to the reality and go back to the drawing board. Nothing really. Just to make charge pipe more reliable pushing more power. Adds a little bit of more turbo noise

Honestly, in the world of sub $300 preventative mods, this is a big one for the B58. It's up there with turbo inlet, PCV, and oil filter shear in terms of reported failures on stock vehicles. Having said that, I ran JB4 map 3 for approx. 30k miles without any of these mods and had no issues. 🤷🏼♂️ That honestly was maybe a tad risky TBH. If this were a $500+ upgrade I'd say stop and think about it. But you can upgrade your oil filter to steel, grab a Ross Racing PCV, and replace your turbo inlet and charge pipe ALL for under $1k and you'll have the peace of mind knowing you beefed up the most failure prone components in your engine bay. Now that I am actually flashing my ECU and closing on 65k miles I have decided to forgo any MAPs or mods which increase power until I have replaced all of these components.

No. May increase the turbo noise a little bit but it’s nothing noticeable
