    I bought the Labeda Snapper 62mm and 92-93 hardness, but it has the aluminum hubs. I like the feel on the floor and because they were going out of business I bought three sets of wheels. My older (25 year old) Labeda boots (with a strap) are still more comfortable than most skates so I didn't change boots when I bought the Invader plate with the SG yellow single action cushions (can't even buy those now). I think years ago they had more selection for the single action plates, but only one Sure Grip cushion now. I guess I will always use this setup because I have one set of cushions left. I live in Metro Atlanta, Georgia where roller rinks almost disappeared, and now there are five rinks within 15 miles of my house. What goes around comes around.

    Women's Flat Track Derby Association is the Roller Derby Governing body for the USA and Canada, Most Kingpins have always been ten degree since the 70s now you can get plates with 45 degree setups

    • @MissLilRedRooster
      @MissLilRedRooster Před 5 lety

      Most of the plates with "45" in the name are actually referring to the truck action or degree of the truck. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a plate with an actual kingpin angle above 33°.

      +Kasey Cornette tough to tell, just make sure you measured with the sizing sheet! If not, can always return boots for another set, that aren't mounted to custom plates.

      +desertdualsport Got my boots in yesterday and they fit well. However they will definitely require a lot of break in time.

    • @desertdualsport
      @desertdualsport  Před 8 lety +2

      +Kasey Cornette If you got the same boots - you CAN try them as-is, however, I would recommend oven-forming them after a couple days at the rink. See where it hurts, then take the boots off the plates. Follow the directions listed on the Reidell ice page to heat and form the thermo-plastic (it wasn't listed on the roller-page last I looked) and you will have better luck. They are in the heels and RH forward boot. Still a long break-in....but should last a long time.

      Jeff Morgan The "D" last seems to be the best fit when I did all measurements, although, now after skating on them for a few months (1X a week with the kids for ~3 hours each,) I am still having some movement on the left heel while striding/shuffle (not sure what they call it these days lol) and pushing it in the corners. still causing one blister weekly. May need to try and heat up the heel cup and form it tighter. I would say they are finally broken in at least! Should last for as long as I need them.

    • @Wretched2JZ
      @Wretched2JZ Před 5 lety

      desertdualsport is your heel moving with the back strap laced? When I started using the 2 heel loops it fixed that problem. Just don’t lace too tight because the laces tend to ride right above the tongue creating a blister on ankle. I know all too well. I’ll be making a video about it eventually

    1 - That's "sha-men"....not "Shay-men". There is no "y" in there.
    2 - WFTDA = Women's Flat Track Derby Association.
    3 - Getting a size too big almost always causes blisters. There are a few dozen skates you could have gotten cheaper (around the $35-$40 price range at the time this video was made) that would still have worked just as well for a 7 year old.
    4 - Why Craigslist 'em? 5 kids - 19 pairs of skates as they were growing up. Never ONCE sold a pair. Why not let a kid who could use them but can't afford them have them? We "gifted" all of ours to other kids. After talking to the parent, I'd sit down with the child and ask that if they were still in working order once the child outgrew them, that they would pass them along to another little girl/boy who needed them. Did any of those 19 pairs get passed on? Of course, we have no way of knowing for sure....but I hope so. TRUE skaters share the love. Especially when it comes to inexpensive kid's skates. My youngest finally got her first real skates as her feet have stopped growing now. Went skating Dec. 22nd and took them to the rink, found a little girl, talked to her mom...this little one's mom had been looking for skates, couldn't find any in her price range...her daughter wanted them for her birthday on Christmas Ever (the following Monday)! Her mother was in tears. Mom called daughter over after we left...soon, the little girl came over to thank us and SHE was in tears. There is NOTHING in the world like that feeling!
    5 - Riedell has a size chart on their website...but DOZENS of roller skate sites sell them. The 395 is one of their more popular models. Unless they're a special order for width or size in general, you could easily have printed the size chart, measured your foot and ordered whatever style you wanted and gotten them much sooner. :( Just for future reference...whether it's another Riedell or something else, most sites have size charts (even if you order through your local rink instead of online)....and remember: The number of pairs of skates you need are the number of pairs of skates you have...plus one! :)

      @Wretched2JZ Před 5 lety

      MystiqueRisingSun I agree, sizing is a big thing. I actually just made a sizing video on the 395, since the other one on here was a little misleading. The charts are great and accurate! I lucked out, the shop I ordered from had 1 boot left in my size, the plates were a different story. I too enjoy spreading the love, sounds like you made that child’s Christmas! God bless
