  • To kick-start the Red Arrows' 60th display season, two Folland Gnats (the Hawk's predecessor used by the team) based at North Weald Aerodrome were flown to RAF Waddington to mark the special occasion.
Officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (RAFAT), the Red Arrows fly the flag for Britain around the UK and across the world. Since their formation in 1964, they have flown nearly 5,000 displays in 57 countries.
Squadron Leader Jon Bond, the team leader for The Red Arrows, tells us how thrilled he is to not only lead the team for the first time, but return them to their famous, trademark diamond-nine shape - a sight that has been missed in the skies since 2021.
We also hear from Red 4, Flight Lieutenant Ollie Suckling, who tells us about the display for 2024 and what we can look forward to seeing from the team.
The RAFAT have announced they will participate at the following events:

Congratulations. I was a Project Manager on Hawk at Warton and part of my responsibility was the smoke generator, manufactured at Hamble.
Hawk was the best of British engineering.

The RAF is in such dire straits, I wouldn’t be surprised if they disbanded the Red Arrows….they definitely need some new aircraft

I can`t help but feeling this will be their last season, the aircraft are getting tired and spares must be getting low. I know they have spare airframes at RAF Shawbury, but even so they can`t go on for ever, the T1 and T1A are no longer in service, so they can`t really promote sales of the Hawk now. The Hawk T2 is a very different beast to the old Hawk.
Due to the CAA ridiculous knee jerk reactions to accidents involving fast jets, airshows are begining to decline rapidly, due to costs in running them insurance etc, the media like to give them a good kicking as well.
Also unfortunatly there is growing dislike for all things military amongst certain groups in our society.

Any update on pronouns, ethnic origin and if a vegetarian diet is available yet in the compo rations? Asking for a friend in Iran now the 5 year settlement rule before being positively recruited over Anglo-Saxon applicants has been waived.
