Being surrounded by so many products and services nowadays, we might not even think that they have unexpected features. Sometimes we even use many things in the wrong way, even though the designers actually planned something different for their inventions.
For example, the blue and red parts of the eraser aren’t for pen and pencil. The red side rubs the pencil particles out of the paper, while the blue side is stiffer and scrubs off a thin layer from the paper itself. Isn't it exciting when ordinary things turn out to be completely unusual? Let’s look at 45 everyday things that have a hidden purpose!

They're not actually "lace holes"
Those shoes were originally designed for basket ball players, and those holes were so the shoes could air-out while the basket ball players played, and so their feet didn't get sweaty and give the players blisters on their feet.

Over 20 years ago when those pen lids changed from fully rounded top to open hole I was in 6th grade and found the hole interesting to rest my teeth on while reading. All of a sudden it slipped and cut a big groove into the roof of my mouth and I've still got a nice little scar I can feel whenever I lift my tongue. Learn from my mistake kids xD
