I love the library updates. I've always loved watching/following ppl build out their collections and setups.
Get a Pod. They drop it Infront of the garage u fill it and good, then u get out what u need when u need it. Rolling Ladders as you talking about(old school, attached to a railing) start at 500$, concern is that the railing(where the ladder is hooked into) has to be attached to something safely. If you do it like in the old Library then the shelfs are free standing not hard mounted. Ladders like at Stores, to role around start at 200$ but are bulky and in the way. I would think a folding indoor ladder or stab stool(don't know your size) would do.
#GoingVertical Dave, don’t even worry about it dude, these videos are exciting! Especially for someone that’s never been able to physically build anything, I love seeing stuff slowly come together! Congrats on the progress!
It's so weird seeing you without your cap. But yeah, space is always the weirdest thing to maneuver around for me.
You could get a storage pod dropped in the driveway, no going back and forth to a storage unit and motivation to get it done to get the pod out of the driveway. Open garage door and storage pod right there.
The rolling library ladders that I found on the Home Depot website are pretty expensive. Itlooks like they go anywhere from $750-$2,000.

It's looking good already Dave! I can already imagine what the new library will look like once it is finally complete!
I would have probably have insulated the garage door first. I did that the first thing once I had stuff I wanted to keep in my garage here in Florida. But I guess it’s like 5-8 degrees hotter where I live in Florida than Orlando. Can’t wait to see the finished product!!!!
I still need to use the door for a few more weeks
Dave, hopefully your garage will be insulated well enough to protect all of your media in your library because those Florida summers are just brutal with the heat and humidity. I'm sure you've already addressed that issue or perhaps it was a non-issue.
Just keep at it. Little by little, you will get there.
#GoingVertical
Dave, I'm very impressed with the progress you've made with your media and shelves which was not easy when one doesn't have a wide open empty space to bring in stuff little by little. I'm in a similar situation in my place when trying to reorganize rooms or create a guest room, update my media room, etc. It's hard to shuffle stuff around to organize spaces properly, but you're getting there and that's the important thing.
All the best as always! :)
It is coming along dude. it is exciting to see the progress. i recently had to rearrange my shelves and room. little by little.
What I've done in the past is put up a cheap large tent with sides in the back yard and move my boxes there. Double layer tarps over the boxes inside of the tent just to be safe from rain and you're good. It's very good for a short term project like this. You live in a fancy area, so I wouldn't worry about theft, but they may have a neighborhood association which wouldn't like that though.
I’d love to see some Timelapse’s of you working on whatever you happen to be working on each day. I love to see progress being made, even if it’s a bit at a time! Question, on the areas near the water heater and the electrical panel, can you put frames on the walls there? If so, you could do a mini gallery on those walls and the wall you are gonna build, that way it’s useable and like a small art/display gallery 😃.
Great video update but is everything you had in old library gonna fit in new library? I know you said you were cutting glass cases but you also had alot of stuff hanging from ceiling, etc. Unless your planning on moving some stuff to either living room, etc?
Definitely understand why you don't want to do temporary storage, but I'd have to do that because I'd go crazy trying to work around things. Lol. I get overwhelmed easily. I enjoy these update videos!
Are you gonna have back to back shelving like the last library? Like having aisles in a video store
I’m in South Carolina and I have a lot of media stored in the garage that I have for my eBay store. It can get warm in there, but in the two years I haven’t experienced any concern with humidity at all. My space stays very dry so moisture hasn’t been an issue humidity wise.
One positive for not get a storage unit you are getting lots of exercise
#GoingVertical I like those overhead storage racks (and I think they are going to be considerable pain to take down and get rid of), but I do see now why you are going to get rid of them (there just isn't enough space). I vote yes on the rolling ladder, lol. Nice start on the shelves. Hey, that's a great idea I never thought of with the little colored placards with categories (I might steal that). It will be really interesting to see your ideas come to fruition and I'm rooting for ya.
On the back wall make one of the shelf units a secret door type shelf 🎉
we like these videos keep showing the progress and process. #goingvertical
Dave I love these videos excited to see the progress #goingvertical
Dave, i think all your videos are good. Thrifting, library updates, life updates, history videos. All good to me
#GoingVerticle I'm impressed with your progress and am very interested in seeing the Libra complete. That being said, I do want to see one of your cool outing videos. I know you have so much to do, but I love those, too.
We now need a Retro Rest Stop meets Flea Market Falcon since now you both are very close is subs, you both are in the Orlando area, both of you guys moved from PA to Orlando, both love punk music, and you both love theme parks. It's the best crossover.
#GoingVertical Having an air conditioner where your discs are is a great idea.
Use the parts of the racks that bolt to the ceiling to reenforce the shelving.
Question would you need ac or a dehumidifier in there so the humility doesn't destroy your stuff . Also would you have to secure the shelves to the walls
Watch the video please
@Retromicky82 26:04
@RetroRestStop I did watch the video but I have your videos running while I'm currently doing my game room so I do miss things I apologise . I watching some of these vids for some tips 😅
@@mav2010xthank you
@@mav2010xwow I definitely missed that part that's so bizarre 🤔 .
#GoingVertical Super happy for you!!!
#goingvertical Great video. Keep them coming of these updates! Still waiting on danielle's ear collection 🎉
Aren't you afraid of keeping the library in the garage with no climate control, especially in Florida with the constant heat and humidity. Disc rot is real!
Did you watch the entire video? 🤔
@elicortez6773 26:04
I am suprised he is okay with it going in the garage as well in general
My bad just started watching the video and was concerned about the library before finishing it to see your preparations.
👍😊
#GoingVertical Looks good what you’ve done so far
Looking absolutely amazing David. Keep on going. Please bring us along for the ride like you’re doing. It’s a lot of fun to watch. Have yourself a fantastic day and remember you have the rest of your life to perfect your library. Take care of your fiancé first.
I think we got the same problem I don't have a big collection like you do but I am running out of room in my room
I hate to say it but you got a big task ahead of you good luck with the library! Just take your time it will get done sooner or later!
#goingvertical I really enjoy these videos, and chance on getting Danelle's reactions to what you have done so far?
🤣 might need to call 911 if your not careful Dave🤣
Why don't you get you a storage buildings so you can put stuff on outside in a storage building. Are you going to keep the garage door or are you going to take them down
I do pest control in Jacksonville beware of a lot bugs during this time of year. Spiders and earwigs and silverfish
We have a pest control guy 👍
We put our house up for sale moving from Florida to Indiana
If i ever do ask something you've already mentioned in the video i do apologise. I mostly watch these types of vids while im doing my game/movie room and im after tips all the time . Plus signal is currently bad in my room has the walls are old and thick 😅
Ouch that's a big chunk out the library typical safety for you 😅, shame you can't talk to someone who can give you a general idea on how much space the heater and such needs so you can work around it better I did it with mine they taped a line showing me the distance.
And I hear you on the storage locker and always your decision I know I had to when I fell over a box and hurt my self 😅 .
3 square feet around each
@@RetroRestStopinteresting I hope you can figure things out . I know with mine here in the uk I have a cupboard around it but I guess restrictions are different elsewhere 🤔. I guess the restrictions are for easy access in an emergency.
List the Power Wheels today and get them gone and btw, these videos are awesome!
Love it looks like yer will need to go higher up on the walls to fit all yer dvds alone the middle could be yer collections in glass units yer right a wee chair in there rather then a sofa .
I know it's frustrating for you, but it's good content! 😊
Looks like u gonna have a smaller library now 🤔
Nearly the same space but different layout
Storage unit, storage unit, storage unit
Sell those storage racks. They are expensive.
Yea. I was planning on it.
#GoingVertical
#goingvertical. PS humidity will be increasing over the next couple of months from now relatively comfortable to oppressive by probably June.
14:40 you did have a lot going on at the time
#goingvertical
Post Covid, the price of wood is insane, noticed that the other day at Home Depot.
Storage units can also be robbed.
Yup. Thats why i brought down as much of the shelves as i could.
Looking good. Take your time and do ut right so u aren't doing it several times and wasting time or money. Have you thought about taking out the garage door and building a wall instead?
Can’t do that in our community
