  • Quick video to show anyone working on a new Yamaha FJ-09. There are not a lot of how to videos out there for this bike right now, so I hope this video helps someone adjust the seat height!

    Thank you for sharing. My tracer arrived this morning and I spent half an hour trying to figure out where the front seat catch was. Very clear and explicit video.

    Clear and concise instructions and it's much appreciated. I'll look forward to your future videos on the FJ-09.

    Great video! I just happened to run into a guy selling this bike, 2700 miles, but notice a showroom bike (a 2017 at a local dealer) was a bit tall. Dealer kid didn’t know how to adjust the seat! This’ll help when I go see the bike for sale. Thanks!!

    Im 6'3" too and tried it on the high and low, but ended on preferring the low setting due to cornering. On the high setting it felt like the high setting was forcing me to stay high when I tried to lean over on sharp corners, but the low setting gave me much more freedom to move around from left to right.

    Thanks for the video, I never got a manual so I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the front seat off.

    Thanks for the video.
    Couple of times that my battery died and I had to jump start the bike with cables I found my self struggling to put the seat back.
    I don't know, I find it a little bit complicated

    Nice video. Did the higher seat position help much? I tried the bike on a test drive and was told afterwards it was on the lower setting and yet it felt ok (I am 6'5").

      Colin Chapman yeah it was defiantly better. For such a quick and easy change, absolutely worth if for taller people.

    I have mine in the higher position and it seems like it would be super easy for water to get under the seat. Is this an issue?

    • @erlegree
      @erlegree  Před 7 lety

      JustinInMotion I haven't noticed an issue, but I have only been caught in the rain once. only washing the bike is when I notice a little bit of water getting in.

    Higher seat will maybe help with leg room but will just make the windscreen seem lower. Does the rubber block with the arrow on it need to be replaced? Seems like something I'd throw in the trash if it didn't have a real purpose.

    • @erlegree
      @erlegree  Před 9 lety

      the windscreen is adjustable. that got moved up as well!

  • @overboostn

    Looks like the seat was already in the higher position at the start of the video.

    • @erlegree

      It was. I did a dry run before actually filming the process to make sure nothing was going to be stuck when pulling it apart.

    Thanks a lot. The manual Yamaha is providing is not very helpful (at least the German version). Must have been written by an intern

    Mine is still all wobbly

    • @kingkrimson8771
      @kingkrimson8771 Před 3 lety +1

      It's not installed correctly if it's wobbling around. Dealer made that mistake when re-installing my seat after service.

    • @throatball
      @throatball Před 2 lety

      They are wobbly in the higher position

  • @RTD553

    You didn't change anything as far as I can see.

    • @erlegree
      @erlegree  Před 3 lety

      when I flip the seat bracket over at the 2 minute mark, you can see there are two sets of pins on the bracket, when you change what pins are used, it will allow you to put the seat in the higher or lower position.

    • @RTD553
      @RTD553 Před 3 lety

      @@erlegree Yes, but you didn't change the pin location!
