Fair enough, but I don't think I said nobody my age will like this set. I said WOTC is pandering to a different demographic.
@@oldschoolmtgGoing to have to disagree with you. WOTC is in the business of making money, and at the end of the day their way to do that is by drawing a wider range of players into the game. I commend them for expanding the available themes in the game and creating more card effects that appeal to EDH and round table style games. Sitting around a table and playing with friends is the only reason a lot of people play any games at all. And I think this set is phenomenal. It’s not fairies with wash cloths for clothes (that’s ACTUAL pandering to a player type by the way), it’s cute little woodland critters in the theme of some incredible books and worlds created by… wait for it… people born 70-80 years ago. So if you want to talk old school, these stories have been around for decades. Also, I’d honestly like to know what demographic you think that this set is “pandering” to? Man, all I can really say is that it would be an awfully frustrating and sad life if all we did was sit around a “harumph” this, and “bah humbug” that. Just enjoy that more people are joining the game and that WOTC are keeping the player base up instead of being miserly and gatekeeping.

Yeah, I don't want to come across that way, it's just been a lot dealing with these companies lately, then having so much stuff get damaged by people and their kids who just don't respect stores anymore. Walmart has taught people to be rude in stores, but us small business owners can't afford to constantly replace broken stuff all the time. And no matter how hard you try to give people a good deal and serve the community there's always people who just think you're out to rip them off lol.
Not a video to watch if you never seen the cards or are unfamiliar with them. I could barely keep up with it. Not really an enjoyable video for me. I stopped 4th pack in.

I love this set because I'm sick of human dominated worlds, everywhere we go humans control the plane, humans control the dinosaurs, humans control the narrative. I miss wild worlds like Jund, Naya, Lorwyn where humans don't exist or struggle to even exist. In original Innistrad the humans were on the brink of extinction, now its a parody with weddings and riding stupid frogs... shucks guys its just another goofy day on Innistrad amiright!?
Offspring and the Planeswalkers in this grind my gears though, I'm sick of them printing new tokens every set we don't need twenty variations of a Zombie token. Nor do we need more than one iteration of any legendary character. New art is great, but what are we on now the 10th iteration of Ral Zarek? One was enough.
Blame the lore. The vast majority of the Planeswalkers are no longer Walkers. Can say for every 10 walkers there used to be, there is only 1 now.
Offspring is essentially just a 1/1 clone of the creature that bore it. And Ral could have been in the last 3 sets cause he was THERE, but they want to limit things to only 1 planeswalker, 2 at most, per set.
@@Prince_Smugarina You're completely misunderstanding everything I said. One iteration of each legendary character doesn't mean one per set, it means one ever. The Lorwyn walkers should have been the only versions of those characters ever printed. New art on reprints is fine, but we don't need fifty different Chandra cards, and we don't need a planeswalker for every set.
The only time we ever needed Ajani Goldmane printed was in Shards of Alara and Theros, maybe Brother's War. We didn't need a new version, just the Lorwyn version with new art.
Same for legendary creatures, we don't need a new Teysa, Ral, and Niv every time we go to Ravnica, their originals are fine.
Yeah I know, but Offspring is stupid as it introduces a plethora of new tokens that are essentially useless to the game because they are dependent on the parent card, its quite literally the stupidity of Amonkhet's Embalm all over again but people like this one cause the art is cute.
They keep making really stupid one-off tokens, like Zombie tokens there are so many iterations now, when finding a way to use the original and more universal 2/2 black Zombie token should be the goal.

We've only been open 8 months and careless parents have let their kids destroy 2 candy machines, 2 doors, and countless displays. It's to the point where we wish we could make it an adults only store lol.
Nice Rant video. bloomburrow seems great. im oldschool too, but the art seems great, cards seem great, should be successful. i imagine you will enjoy a set you can sell successfully...

I think it’s wild that as a store owner you don’t want kids coming to your store. You act like a few bad apples mean all kids are bad. I first got into magic at 12 years old and would likely not play it today if the LGS near me told me not to come.
I hear ya, we have some younger players who are great, it's not the young players that cause problems it's the parents who bring in little kids and don't watch them or try to teach them how to behave in public who have literally cost us thousands of dollars in damage in the 7 months we've been open. If you ever open your own retail store you'll see what it's like. People just don't respect other peoples property anymore and they don't seem to teach their kids that either. Could just be our area, who knows.
Honestly find Outlaws at thunder junction more of a kiddie set than Bloomburrow because of all the goofy cowboys. These critters in bloomburrow are just dungeons and dragons in Chip n Dale style. kids are obsessed with crossovers and references and thats what MTG is turning into now I have more fear about universes beyond Marvel ruining magic and LGS atmosphere more than

Im old school too so I'm not big on some of these newer sets But I have been looking at some older bulk and some rares Is like from Stronghold. Exodus Mirage Some arabian nights in antiquities And stuff like that Cost a little more but it's worth it
