      Six ads on a top five video AFTER a forty second plug for your own channel? It felt like too many barriers to enjoying the content. The first ad cut in halfway through the first topic was even fully done. It was impossible to be invested as a viewer, and I didn’t finish watching. Seemed interesting, so definitely a bummer.

    I grew up with a guy who became a priest in 1987 he left for seminary, in 2010 I went back home and learnt he was working in the Vatican and more so one of the library keepers. He confirmed there's a lot of interesting history and not just about the Catholic church. He did say it gets more visits by scholars then you would expect. He did however make note that when in the library you are escorted by a priest to ensure nothing goes missing. The only visitor without escort is the pope. I thought it was pretty cool when he told me this.

    The "Mormon Vault" is like the Iron Mountain; a data vault. And it's called The Church's Archives. Instead of secret data about big companies and other things though, it holds the world's largest genealogical archive, the church's history archives, other world history archives, and other information. It's actually not very secret concerning what's inside, but to protect the information stored there, they will go at great lengths to protect it from anyone who would want to change or destroy that information. I know a couple of people who have gone inside with permission.

    Ok, I have difficulty taking this channel seriously since you contradict yourselves so often. It's time to set a couple of things straight.
    The Vatican Vaults are filled with ancient texts that are historical records of the Catholic Churches activities, teachings, changes, ordinations, canonizations, etc. over it's 1960+ years of existence. Most of these texts are in their original forms and need to be handled with EXTREME care or they will crumble. It was an archives like this that Martin Luther was reading through when he discovered that certain practices (such as paying for indulgences) had no scriptural foundation and lead him to write his 99 theses which he nailed to a church door. They can't let just anybody in because most people don't know how to handle ancient texts. If just a little grease from your fingertips gets on to the pages, you would begin a chain of events that would lead to that document being destroyed. Does the Catholic church have a dark history? Yes. It's hardly a scandal anymore. There are tons of evidence outside of the Vatican archives that bring up corrupt clergymen.
    The Mormon Vault: To understand this vault, you have to understand one of the principle practices in the Mormon religion: Preparedness. This vault serves as a backup archive of all of the family history work that has been performed by its members. It contains hard copies of microfilms, church records for ordinances performed in behalf of the deceased, records of baptisms and ordinations of EVERY church member, records of church history, and hard copies to any land purchases, stock shares, and other legal documents leading all the way back to the church's creation. Their reasoning behind this is if the WORST should happen and the electronic copies on the church's servers were to be erased by some event, natural or otherwise, they would still have the hard copies so that they could continue to hold their lands, properties, and a complete history of all of the work of the church, its members (living, deceased, those that asked to have their membership removed of their own volition, etc.), doctrine, scriptures, and so forth so that they can continue to run without needing to start all over. Why is it guarded? Since these are the hard copies, they don't want anyone to tamper with them. If an issue of a land purchase came up, the Church would provide the court with a copy and the original since digital copies can be altered. As far as the Mormon Church having a "dark history" and a "religion based on hate, violence, and bigotry", you're right and you're totally wrong. It's history is dark. They were run out of multiple cities, members tarred and feathered, at times massacred, women raped by anti-mormons, Governor Boggs placed an Order of Execution on them in Missouri, one of the raids on Joseph Smith's house by an angry mob resulted in the death of his child. When it comes to violence, most people cite the Mountain Meadows Massacre, but they never look at the surrounding circumstances and the actions of church leaders that ACTUALLY took place. The massacre was the result of being chased out of town time and time again, fear of being persecuted again, frustration that they never once took a stand in the previous cities and fought back for fear that the press would begin to twist the truth into justification for violence against them. The truth is that the man who ordered the massacre, Isaac Haight, was scared and impatient. He sent a letter to Brigham Young, the church's leader at the time, asking for guidance because the locals were scared and pressing him for action. Brigham Young sent a message to leave the people alone. It came as a great misfortune that Isaac Haight was too impatient and gave the order before he heard back from Young. Was hate involved? Yes, hate of persecution, hate towards the people that had run them out of so many homes and killed so many of their friends and family. Was that hate taught? I would say it was nurtured by some of the local leaders who had become jaded by the event of the past. Is this hatred found in the official doctrine and teachings of the church? No. Not at all. In the 64th section of their book The Doctrine and Covenants, they are taught that their duty is to forgive ALL men and women their tresspasses. The local leaders and members did not follow this doctrine and fed their fears. And as far as bigotry goes, people cite male, black members of the church not receiving the priesthood until the 1960's. This is true, but not the whole truth. The Mormon Church had no statement on it for a very long time because they wanted to get all of the facts before releasing an official statement on it. Joseph Smith promoted abolishing slavery, and even helped a family pay to have their son freed. Documents of African-American men receiving the priesthood had also been found dating back to the days of Joseph Smith, so why did it stop? To make things more unclear, people started spreading speculative rumors as fact such as "Brigham Young revoked it because he wanted to help get Utah accepted as a state, whether slave or free." It was chaos. So an investigation went into the matter ordered by the church's leaders, led by some of the greatest minds of American history, to go through every sermon, letter, decree, and proclamation given by those who had authority to make such changes and those that didn't. It also included any journals, newspapers, and letters of members that they could find that dated from the days after Joseph Smith's assassination to the 1960's in order to find out where it originated. What were their findings? Nothing. After years of research, they could not find one document that explained why male African-American members were restricted from the priesthood. The official statement of the Church leaders was made in the last decade and pretty much stated that in the days of Joseph Smith, it was common practice for African-American men to receive the priesthood. This practice was stopped for an unknown reason. Perhaps Sociology can then help us. Sociologist Armand Mauss is one of the foremost authorities on this subject and the subject of "Mormons and Racism". In his studies and research, he has found that the views of the average church member towards people of other races was no different from the populace that they lived in. In other words, if they lived in a racist community, they were more likely to be racist. Not because of church doctrine, but because of being influenced by their environment. So why did the Church restrict access to the priesthood? Most likely because of the subconscious influence of America's general treatment of African-Americans.
    In both of these cases, the reason for the security (Not secrecy. If they were secret, why do you have photos and video footage of these places?) is for the sake of maintaining the integrity of the organization's history. This same level of security is designed to protect the Declaration of Independence and the Kilogramme of Archives. What if someone took the Kilogramme of Archives and secretly shaved off 1 gram of material and placed it back? That person would rewrite history! Every measuring instrument would need to be recalibrated because they did not register the same as the Kilogramme of Archives. Plus, since the kilogramme was originally defined as the "mass of one liter of water at 4°C". This means that all laws regarding our understanding of the mass of water, the measurement of a liter, our understanding of certain volumes of objects, all of this would come into question because the hard-copy standard that it was all based on had been altered. Luckily, this has already happened. The Kilogramme of Archives and its six sisters changed in mass naturally overtime. In order to fix this, scientists have worked to replace the necessity of relying on a physical object by counting the atoms in 1 kilogram of Silicon 28, and yielding a number. Now, the kilogram can be defined as 1 kilogram= 2.15 x 10^25 atoms of Silicon 28. Just like the Catholic and Mormon Churches, scientists were protecting the integrity of a measurement against unwanted (or undocumented) change so that work can continue.
    Honestly, you guys are just hacks. You ask, but refute the truth because it isn't as "sexy" as a scandal. Do some ACTUAL research.

      It was at that point in the video that I had to stop and realize that the information being presented is not accurate, and makes me question EVERYTHING else in the video.
      The Mormon church is not a cult, and if you consider it to be, then every christian religion needs to be considered that as well, Catholicism, Protestantism, Anglicanism, etc. They all share similar values, and teachings. They all have secrets, just the Mormons have chosen not to hide the fact that they have a vault and choose not to let outsiders in on certain sacred activities.

    I don’t agree with the Mormon one. If you read history, you’d understand why the Mormons were the way they were. I honestly believe that they have documents and such in there as well as food stores. One of the things they talk about is having a food store for at least a year I believe. It may be more like 5. Whatever is in there I’m sure it’s nothing nefarious.

      I have to disagree - with the keyword in your statement of "any" - which means all. Yes, some of it is bad and Jesus warned against wolves in sheep's clothing among the flock. But church can be a healing place and like a family reunion of God's children to gather together and commune with their Father. Church is not a bad thing.

      That is a damn good question that I can't answer. I am not so much defending the organization known as the Catholic Church - just for me, going to Mass occasionally is a very refreshing experience - energizing. In fact, I think I am overdue. But I can not answer your question and you have a good question at that.

    • @alexleonard397
      @alexleonard397 Před 6 lety +8

      blumenthol That’s great that you take something good from religion. I have relatives that are catholics and they are the best people. But there is so much bad to come from religion that I just can’t trust it and I will never believe in something that contains so many bad people and also the fact that there is no real proof of it being real. Sorry! I actually enjoy the tranquility of being in a nice church so I completely understand what your saying about feeling refreshed. But with the Catholic Church hiding important correspondence from history tells me that they have proof that religion is a lie and it means they would lose their cash cow.

      A W I think you have it tye the other way around. A lot of the towns, in that area actually created a genocide on a group of people who choose to practice their first amendment right to gather and worship god the father and Jesus Christ the way they believed. Many were murdered, raped, and torched. The governor of Missouri at that time issued an extermination order, for reasons that were unjust. Most newspapers painted them to be barbarians even though they played a big part in the political justices we have today. Even now their unverified is one of the leading educational systems to produce highly trained and qualified staff of many different companies. for example if you like south park, the people who are behind it is mormons.

    I've toured through the Vatican and was very impressed. The tapestries of babies and women being slaughtered were quite a........surprise, I can tell you that much. All I kept thinking about was how great it would be to be able to wander around the archives. I also took a tour of the DMZ which was very interesting. The building they show at 7:15 is where you get to walk into. When I was there, there a border line ran across the room and you got to cross over into N.Korea. Just don't open the door and run outside. Its anti climatic but still, I've stood in N.Korea. During the tour they also take you hundreds of feet underground where N.Korea tunneled their way into S.Korea. You can look through a small glass wall and sometimes N.Koreans are looking back at you. If you're above 5'5 you're ducking the entire way, or hitting your head on solid stone.

    'Vatican secret archives' is something of a misnomer, the word secreto in their Latin name is better translated and understood as 'private'. Which is why the exterior of the building has a beautifully painted sign telling you what it is. The word to use for secret/hidden rather than secreto would be 'occulto'.

I am not Mormon, I am Muslim but grew up Mormon and still live in Utah and though I disagree with their beliefs (Mormons) that go against my own I still respect their right to their beliefs because that is what my faith teaches. Most importantly though, those vaults are for family history and genealogy research records as anyone who lives in Utah or who knows about us (Utah) knows that Utah and Mormons are big on family research and ancestry.
