    What happened after the few thousand miles. DId it get a good amount of gunk and goo out of the coolant?

    I'm just starting to see a build up in the reservoir bottle at the bottom. Looks and feels like an oily grit. 20,000 kms 2018 JK 2 door 3.6..I will get the kit and hope it works this issue out. I thought the casting sand didn't affect the 2018 but by the res bottle it seems to.

      It seemed to only be the first few years of the 3.6 that saw the sand issue. That said, I think it's a good idea on any engine. Clean fluids are a big plus in making parts last longer.

    My 2013 (bought new and meticulously maintained) has this issue. Heat on drivers side started getting weak a few years ago, totally went out after I had the Jeep sitting over the winter last year. Replaced that stupid little door under the dash, reset everything...nothing worked. Flushed fluid multiple times, changed fluid, installed screen filter in line all helped but still having issues. Plan on replacing the radiator and heater core at the same time this summer (I have a feeling they are quite plugged up) and installing one of these. This is turning out to be a real problem for Wranglers.

      That's why Mishimoto came up with the kit and why we really encourage early model 3.6 JK owners install one.

    Nice video! Would this kit also work on the 2011 WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 Pentastar?

    • @northridgenation
      @northridgenation  Před 3 lety +1

      Possibly, obviously it is designed for the JK, though it should work for your WK2 with some mods.
      The bracket is a bolt-in for the JK, you'd need to figure out where to install in on your WK.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but the hose looks like the coolant doesn't get forced through the filter. It's only an auxiliary filter. So if the dirt decides to just stay on the path of the main line it can avoid the whole point???

    • @northridgenation
      @northridgenation  Před rokem

      It's a bypass filter. It is under pressure from the water pump, but it will only filter a percentage of the coolant as it bypasses through.
      Yes, if you have dirt stuck somewhere in the engine, it will not have the chance to be bypassed into the filter.

    • @inegma29
      @inegma29 Před rokem

      Put an inline champion coolant filter along with the bypass filter for your system, put the inline filter on the coolant inlet hose of your radiator. Double your filtration and it has a glass see through cover.

    I'm looking to install this on my jku but I've got some modifications and can't get and definate answers to the fitment on a jeep with prochsrger and upgraded power steering pump, it seems like with the filter box being removed I've got plenty of room but I don't want to cut hoses on a fitment test

    • @northridgenation
      @northridgenation  Před 4 lety

      We haven't done a Mishimoto coolant filter with a Procharger and Upgraded PS pump, so couldn't say for sure about the fitment.
      However, where there is a will, there is a way. Might need to modify the bracket to change placement, but with a little McGuyvering, you should be able to get it in there.

    Hold up I have a 2013 JKUS which I bought with orange coolant. . . Should I swap it out for the purple stuff or is it fine?

    • @northridgenation
      @northridgenation  Před 3 lety
