"La llorona" is a beautiful love song born in the state of Oaxaca (someone already told the story here and did it very well). There are countless versions and each singer makes of it a creation and puts his own feeling to it. A few days ago, when they reacted to Juan Gabriel, I put a list of Mexican songs that they could react to, either for their beauty or for their virtuosity, although, almost all of them, have a lot of both, and I recommended this same song but in the interpretation of Eugenia León, who, in my opinion, is the most beautiful voice in Mexico, maybe without the virtuosity of Lila Downs but her version is very heartfelt and deep, as is the soul of the Oaxacan people where she is from. I really liked her reaction and I hope they continue with much more Mexican music.

The song "La Llorona" is a traditional Mexican son that describes a story of love and pain, which became popular in the times of the Mexican Revolution, although it is said its origins could go back to the Pre-Hispanic Era.
According to the story of a young man from Tehuantepec, he went to a party in the neighboring community called Juchitán, there he met a girl so beautiful that she came out of the church wearing the famous Isthmian regional dress called huipil.
For a time he made an effort to conquer the young woman, then he managed to obtain the approval of his parents to marry her, but the winds of the Revolution blew in Oaxaca (between the years 1911 and 1912), before going to battle, he said something like this:
“I remember the day we went to the river and the flowers of the field seemed to cry, with you the clouds in my sky are nothing, even the sun competes with your smile.
War is calling me because the peace of our country has been stolen.
I will return to you and for our future family, I will never stop loving you, in this life and in death.
The day of departure arrived, and when the young man said goodbye to his young wife, tears ran through his eyes and sighs of pain invaded the face of his beloved.
While he spoke with the young woman, he took both her hands, at the same time that he wiped with his own the tears that fell down the cheeks of his beloved wife, then he called her "crybaby" because she did not stop crying knowing that she might not see again. to her husband.
Kisses and promises flew through the air and he swore that he would come back for her from life to death, with impunity.
Many people at the time knew the couple and were dismayed for them. The young man went to war but never returned, some time later a friend of both returned to the town and told the young woman:
“Your husband was hit by bullets and the injuries were so terrible that it was impossible to save him. But as he lay dying he asked me to tell you that he will always love you and please forgive him. Here is a letter that he gave me for you.”
Excerpts from that letter were taken to compose this beautiful song whose lyrics go like this.
    "CRYING"
You were leaving the temple one day crying when I saw you passing by,
beautiful huipil you wore weeping that the Virgin believed you,
in the sky the sun is born my crybaby and in the sea the moon is born and in my heart is born crybaby
    love you like no other
Even if it costs me my crying life,
I will not stop loving you.
    Oh my crybaby,
    llorona you are my never,
They will ask me to stop loving you, crybaby,
    But to never love you,
do not think that I sing to you weeping,
    I have a happy heart
    also of pain llorona sings,
    when you can't cry,
    don't cry dear garment,
I will wait for you on the horizon every morning.
It goes without saying that the young widow cried all the time because of that letter, she never remarried because she hoped to meet her beloved in paradise and fulfill her promise.
Their baby was born a week after the news and every October 30 they had dinner together. A wife and son in the land of the living, and a husband from the realm of the dead, until the great eagle brought them together again.
Time passed and the story was written as a local folk song and has survived all this time.

FYI this Llorona is not the same Llorona from the legend about the woman and the children. This Llorona is coming out of a Church when the singer sees her for the first time. Two different Lloronas. This is a love story about a man who falls so in love with this woman and he imagines various interactions. Its a mystical old song from the mystical and wondrous state of Oaxaca.

They say that this song is inspired by the tragic romance of a young Oaxacan couple; the story tells that a boy from Tehuantepec went to a party in the neighboring community, called Juchitán and there he met a girl who left the church wearing the famous Isthmian regional costume, called huipil.
The boy struggled to conquer the young woman, who in the end accepted and when the wedding plans were going from strength to strength, the airs of the Mexican revolution reached Oaxaca, so the young man was recruited and sent to the fight.
On the day of his departure while the boy said goodbye to his beloved, tears ran through her eyes, while sighs of pain invaded her, the young woman vowed to wait for her boyfriend and marry him on his return, but he never returned.
One day a former soldier arrived in the village, with the mission of finding the girl to tell her that her boyfriend had died on the battlefield, but that before dying in his arms, he had asked her to promise that he would deliver a letter to his great love. So the boy came to keep his promise.
In the letter was the lyrics of La Llorona, which, we do not know how, reached the hands of Andrés Henestrosa, who made the arrangements to turn it into practically an anthem for Mexicans.(www.panoramadigital.co.cr/la-historia-detras-de-la-cancion-de-la-cancion-la-llorona/)

There are actually different types of Mexican regional music. Mariachi, for example, is from the center of the country whereas Norteño music is from the North and Huapango is from the east coast. They might use different instruments and sometimes they cover songs from other regions, which might be confusing as what is the original sound of a song. This, for example, is a fine example of east coast music where you can see singing is not all there is about Mexican music. I hope you like it: czcams.com/video/afJHcBxPUyE/video.html One thing to note is that Huapango music follows certain gramatical rules, like coplas and verses repeated in inverse order, sometimes more recited than sang.

Hey, try to learn spanish, it would open new doors in understanding whitout need subtitles; and in this case, with a song that is sung in very versions the lyrics find at google wouldn't be the same that you are listening.
i'm sorry if i wrote with some orthografics wrongs, english is not my language, and i know that my english is poor, but i try to comunicate whit anybody, no wait that the world come to me or write or
