- There is absolutely no room to work on this vehicle. Unfortunately, this is the new normal for many modern vehicles. If you want to replace headlights, drivebelts, water pump, thermostat, even a fog light bulb - it all requires the removal of the front bumper. Big bummer! But as seen here, it's not a terrible job and can be performed at home with basic tools and a bit of common sense.
This particular vehicle is a 2011 Audi S4. This is sometimes referred to placing the vehicle in service position. Audi S4 Lock Carrier Sevice Position.

Brilliant. Well explained. Thanks man
Awhh man I thought it was brain surgery to put my S5 in service mood smh 🤦🏾♂️ thanks bro u are the MVP
I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the great content and good luck with the Audi.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback
You don't have to remove the bumper bar for this job. You can replace it without removing the bumper bar. Even the coolant pump, you can replace it without removing the bumper bar.Maybe you have to play a bit of tetris, but it's OK,not bad.
That bolt in each side of the bumper is a 10mm.
Thank you!
Such beautiful cars, yet so unpractical
once you’ve worked on the car over and over you realize it’s very practical especially the belts how you can just move the pulley to the side, it’s so nice, as long as you got a good amount of tools there’s cars can actually be fair to work on. not easy not hard, but fair
@@Slowednreverbedd Maybe with some engines it might be a more easy.. The thing that i really never liked about the Audis is their direct injection systems, Audi's with 30k miles already have their valves completely clogged with carbon build up
it is a known fact, all dealer Mechanics will half ass a job just to get it completed in a timely manner, it sucks for the price we pay, but that's what you get now.
I missed how you remove the duct on the driver side that mates in front of the secondary/auxiliary radiator to get to the 3 bolts.
I was able to get it out by pushing the duct to the right when facing the front of the vehicle. Unclipped at the bottom and then the top. Feels like it will break but be patient and it will give.
With that automobilee...If I had hair I'd pull it out.
Lol..same here
Ok here is the issue, I replaced the drive belt without removing the lock carrier on my first week at Audi. Yes you do have to dick around the Supercharger belt and pullies. Service position is reasonably quick and make things easier. But if you worked on BMW's before, its a piece of piss really. N54 drivebelts are a bit fun as well.
Well done. Just wrapped up belts, tensioners & idlers.
@@CarsNToys It looks impossible, totally doable. Repairing vehicles, you have to get creative sometimes. Removing more things makes it easier. However the more things you remove, you create other complications at times. The trick is there isn't allot of room and two idlers are next to each other, the main drivebelt can slip through the non-existing gap. Its just like the EA888 waterpump belt by the balancing shaft pully, its typically impossible to remove or refit without removing the pully or cut the belt. Refitting a new belt without removing the pully is impossible by normal means, but doable. Getting creative nothing is impossible. Same with removing the alternator on some configs to make things easier, but not required. Nor is removing the intake manifold required, just do it blind. Some engines are just poorly designed. Either the balancing shaft snaps not allowing the waterpump to spin or the belt breaks. I think those are the least of your worries when other parts of the engine are just throw away parts.
I rather work on my toyota/lexus or honda
Go be slow
