This was NOT what I expected - loved the TP story. Thanks for the update on what happened in the United Methodist church. I appreciated what you said about pot shots. I abhor ministries that put other ones down.

Thanks Carol. I've been guilty of it as well, so not perfect here either. Think with the Damar Hamlin incident, it really put in focus how love and prayer truly can unite us - as opposed to denominations acting like football teams that are ready to knock-off the heads of others. What are the commonalities we can find at Christ and the cross as opposed to our differences.

Love the sharing about TP. I'm so glad someone have pass to you,so you can give to kids. Specially being visitor you didn't feel like outsider when other people giving away to kids.
I heard all about the division in Methodist church about what you shared. And it's breaks my heart when churches flying LGBT flags in front of their churches. There's shouldn't be any compromise.yet we must continue pray for them.Glad you had good experience.

Nice video! Loved the TP story🤣. I find it interesting on Church history. Especially, with the current Methodist Church split. I wonder if it is also happening in other denominations right now.

Haha, sometimes I wonder about those who came across it in the Google search results all those years ago and what they were thinking when they were just trying to find a "Charmin" toilet paper pun.
I'm no theologian or historian, but from what I understand (and someone can correct me if needed), bigger recent denominations split over women as pastors, and the LBTQIA+ fell within the same lines. United Methodist Church never had that issue with female pastors, but homosexuality is a big issue for traditionalists - especially in Africa who make up a big contingent of the denomination population. Either way, the more church splits, the more divided we become. With Damar, it showed how love and prayer can bridge us back together.

Wow David, I had to go and read the article. I love your writing by the way. Many of our differences are reconcilable; some our not, but we can always love and encourage instead of criticize and condemn. It is a difficult thing to strive to be like Christ, how to love and follow God's laws without condemning His, perhaps, less attentive children. How does one show love to others while not enabling what one believes is sinful behavior? These are hard things. Most of us are not great at it. Perhaps little by little we just try to be Christlike in each single interaction and God will make up the difference.

Pretty arrangement of Eagle's Wings. The simple truth is that these small churches do not attract the activism that is causing schism in the UMC. So the big doctrinal questions are not set directly in their face. They make due with what they have but, also are sometimes way to comfortable in their isolation to make a change.

100% agreed. Think with many rural churches like this where the average age may be 60, why get involved with changing everything when things are set in place.

I see the split in my town of 70,000 as well.
The Methodist church here is a much larger complex with the main building and a school and others but on any Sunday, I've never seen more than 10 cars there.
They keep having national guest speakers but most that called themselves Methodist 5 years ago don't even claim it today.
It's either children in school or the older seniors, and they are fewer and fewer.

@@52churchesin52weeks LOL! OK, imagine me pinching the bridge of my nose and, with my eyes closed, slowly shaking my head! These are some good groaners. I really must share them, and for good reason. Three years ago, over the span of a few months, I bought, bought, and bought bathroom tissue. To date I have 2268 rolls. Some family members know of my amount and tease me of it. So when you mentioned it in this video, I chuckled to myself. LOL! Well, I did Scouts and they say, "Be prepared!" Oh, and if you got this same reply, I accidentally used my other CZcams account.

Sadly, this church is disaffiliating. I am a member of a UMC that is staying a d is a Lighthouse Church for those left without a church after their church disaffiliate. I am pleased that Damar Hamlin is back practicing with the Bills now. UMC's put an emphasis in Service.

I did! There were no kids in the church sanctuary from what I recall, guess they were all in Sunday school. About 45 minutes into the service, the kids were instructed to enter the church with this giant cart that was probably too big for them, and congregation members would pass down perishables to load up the cart for a Thanksgiving tradition. Most had small canned items, though I remember others had to have had TP since the teacher joked about them being a "toilet paper church." Felt so uneasy sitting next to it unaware of the plan!

I am a member of a UMC Church. Prohibitions on Homosexuality being compatible with Christian Teaching was put in place in 1972. Since then, many Americans have wanted this language changed. The UMC is a global church. African voters a d some other Asian and European church delegates have voted to keep that language. This leads to UMC courts, ministers being defrocked, etc. Now, the conservatives want their own denomination. The Moderates and Progressives are wanting to be welcoming to all. I am on that side of things. .

I believe with what is going on all over the world we are surely in the end times. I will not believe the people of the world, but the words of Christ. Just read the Bible instead of listening to the world. When the Church you attend believes it is wrong to say Kingdom, but say Kindom, when it believes there are any many ways to Heaven, it believes you should say Our father/mother, it is time to not walk, but run!
Jesus said, I am the way, who are they that cries No? So glad true Christians are running away….

My grandmother left Methodism for Catholicism. Methodism these days is kind of the bid of jokes for people who like talking about Christendom. Not really sure what they stand for anymore.
