As it happens she left them nothing. She left most of her personal effects to another sister who lived on the other side of the country, and was the only sibling to whom she was close. She didn't even have a relationship with any of the thieves who were looting her bedroom!

They hire mostly English language voice actors, but the script writers don't always understand the cultural differences. In many cases Japan is still a patriarchy. And their inheritance laws, in absence of a will, tend to favor primogenitor with males given precedence.

Until and unless they have been authorized by the concerned inheritor. Never entertain BIL's or SIL's to discuss about your parents inheritance.
