- Officers with the California Highway are in pursuit of a driver wanted for traveling at a high rate of speed in Los Angeles County.
Authorities initiated the pursuit while the driver was on the westbound 91 Freeway, approaching Vermont Avenue.
The pursuit suspect has been clocked at speeds of 110 miles per hour, while blacking out the vehicle’s headlights. After exiting the freeway, the suspect can be seen traveling at high rates of speed on surface streets.

Well it wasn’t 0 star caz the helicopter was still chasing it it was 3 stars

This is why I always look both ways even when going through green lights out in LA. Folks crazy out here.
Should do that no matter where you are.
Really common sense says slow down a bit and look both ways going thru intersections.
Good defensive driving will help keep you wreck free.💙
I do too. LA has taught me how to actively drive! But not so long ago a friends mom was hit leaving her home. In the dashcam you see her wait even after the green light but right as she went a speeding car hit her! Sometimes no matter how precautionary you are, others actions are truly out of our control 🥲
Same. In LA and San Bernardino
Same 😂
I had enough red light close calls in Houston I started checking both ways even if my light had been green awhile. It's just habit now even though Minnesota drivers aren't nearly as nuts as Houston drivers are.
are we not gonna talk about how the news cameraman was doing better at keeping up with him than the police
EDIT: let me clarify. the news helicopter cameraman was doing a better job at keeping up with him than the police helicopter was. i'm very much so aware that helicopters do indeed see more than police do on the ground.

In a shocking twist, this car is not stolen...at least he is treating it like it is his car.
For real, even signaled a few times lol.
You would think commentators would know that cars have daytime running lights that look like headlights from the front, but do not provide tail lights.
My thoughts exactly... You would also think that people who have DRLs would understand the same thing, but they don't seem to get it either, even when you flash your lights at them to tell them their lights aren't on (particularly their tail lights).
" DOING 110 ON THE 110"
I honestly see some people driving like this normally on the 5 in the daytime.

I witnessed a couple playing bumper-cars, westbound on Orangethorpe, once.
Sorry! Lol

Politicians have neutered police. If an innocent bystander dies during a police pursuit, the department will be sued, so politicians have forced police commanders to change pursuit tactics.
LAPD ARE JUST GOOFS
He probably went home...he will get a knock at the door or more like a raid
See what I mean? Just drive fast & the cops will back off
No. Its because they ALREADY have identified the driver, know who he is, and will simply pick him up later when he goes home, or hides out at his girlfriend's house. You think it's THAT easy to drive off into the sunset, to NEVER see charges from a pursuit again?

Wow how many times have we seen this happened ? Come to L.A and get away from the cops easily is another one of many messages here for criminals
No. It's not "Easy".... MOST of them get caught
Actually most get away, and that is bc no pursuit policies. Not bc of the police. The police would love to pursue everything and everyone, but when little Johnny plows into a family of 4 and kills everyone, first thing that happenes is that family sues lapd for 20 million, saying why did you pursue over a traffic infraction. So in the end, bad driving gets rewarded.
@@Mike-ts3it NO. Most DON'T get away scott free... Just because you didn't see the cops go and pick him up later, and charge him with it, because they already knew who he was before the pursuit got terminated doesn't mean he got away.
@@davelowets Yes they do. Unless the police can 100 percent say that is the person driving, they can't make an arrest. All the driver has to do is say they lent their car to a friend. Part of the elements is that you have to prove driver and most of the time they can't. In the rare cases they do excellent.
@@Mike-ts3it Wise up, man. That chopper has a high-resolution camera on it, with a Tele-photo lens on it that can see for 10 miles.. Not to mention the hundreds of security cameras and traffic cameras that he SURELY was captured on. You think it's SO easy... Technology today says otherwise.

I wonder if Gavin Nuisance will tomorrow morning require all of us to get a background check, wait 10 days after that in order to drive a car and take away all "assault" vehicles
No, they will not. An insurance company has ZERO say in what kind of vehicles we can purchase, or drive.
😂😂
Why would a criminal use a blinker 😂
Habit
The police should just admit they would rather allow Criminals to do what they will than actually pursue and apprehend them.
Blame politicians, the law system currently and the higher ups in police. Why do anything when these people get slaps on the wrist? If police chased them till their wheels fell off and charged them very seriously, then people would be extremely hesitant to ever do this. These people know nothing will really happen.
It’s not the police, it’s the ones above them even they have said that themselves. LAPD says it’s all political in L.A

Don't worry, a life of a KIA is very boring.
Lol “you can go around that helicopter” is code for don’t have a mid air collision bro
That would have been a light show.
No, it's not.
The news helicopters are assigned a slightly higher altitude than the cops. Gil, the cameraman/narrator, was telling his pilot to go around the police helicopter so he could keep the car in the shot. What he meant is: Move so I can see past the police helicopter.
The two aircraft were never close to a mid air collision.

I’ve been in the air over those pursuits and the media can get assigned an altitude well above us but they still get sloppy and can get too close trying to get that shot. I’m talking from my experiences now. It ain’t all that smooth every time.

California is a joke so not surprised why this happens on a weekly basis. Just make it such a severe charge and do not stop chasing and these won't happen often.
The mph gauge is ridiculous. The news is focused on creating hyperbole rather than accuracy.
It's called a "speedometer", and it's MUCH more accurate than NOT having one. It gives the viewers a much better perspective of what's really going on in real time, and how fast they're traveling
@@davelowets Speedometers measure the rotations per second and calculate the mph based on the wheel diameter. This is a gauge manually manipulated for a 'newsy' effect. Did you not see it drop to near zero several times regardless of how the car was traveling? It also got up to 180mph at a few points. I doubt they ever reached 100mph in traffic, as that is nearly impossible to do. This is just a way to manipulate people into thinking something is more exciting than it is in an effort to get them to continue watching. Apparently it is working on you.
@@toditron No kidding, it is NOT a perfect system, but it gives the watchers an idea. I'm WELL aware of how it works..

I really wish the speed on the camera was not used. It’s not accurate at all. No way he was going over 200 MPH. Just like the LASD unit that was stolen. The news said that it was over 160 mph and even made their CZcams video with that headline, when in fact a Police Interceptor Utility maxes out around 130 and would be physically impossible to reach 160 unless it was being towed by a jet.

Those are not "headlights". Those are DRL (daytime running lights). Despite their name, they are always on when the car is moving (even at night).
In other words, "headlights"... 🤦🏻
@@davelowets nope. DRLs do not illuminate the road, as can be quite clearly seen in the video. They are more like parking lights, with the difference that when only DRLs are on, rear lights do not turn on (and neither do license plate lights), thus making the appearance of the car being "blacked out".
@@ysakhno MANY DRL's ARE the headlights... 🤷🏻

Having had a 4wd van (OFF ROAD FITTED) with roof lights that were ALL LED
I could see almost as good as having the main brights on.
BUT - I had a 6way circuit going up to the top-mounted, ROOF-RACK load bar.
Operated by a BIG BLACK SWITCHBOX between the front seats.
That allowed me to have.
Just an outside pair of 21W ORANGE CAB lights
I had another switch for a FULL LENGTH OF 2M bar "white strip lights" (goodness knows how bright - as I didn't care)
These were interspersed with a string of BLUE strip lights (that I could turn on or off at will) - that were good for seeing road signs at night, (especially in snow)
I also had what some would call a pair DRL's (that I sometimes used during the day as DRL's)
They were SPOT/FLOOD 18W agricultural LED's.
Plus I also had some BIG SQUARE 48W SPOT lights (that I used as night time BRIGHTS)
Above the outer ORANGE cab lights, I installed a second pair - that (along with relays in boxes at either end) - OPERATED both the cab & Extra orange lights, when the indicators were used.
These doubled as SIDE FLASH & HOLD lights that I could flip LEFT OR RIGHT at will.
When I did that it automatically turned off the strip white & blue LED's on THAT SIDE (irrespective of turn signals)
Sometimes I'd also take LONG road trips late at night, just to play FLASH-ME's with oncoming trucks, some of which danced their lights back
Thus - I know that with LED's one can safely drive anywhere at night.
BUT - the way that car was used, it had NORMAL HEADLIGHT FUNCTIONS (with just the side/tail lamp circuit switched off.
To assume dark running.
Always 4kt up by idiots who forget that BRAKE LIGHTS / REVERSE & TURN LIGHTS light it up like a Christmas tree when those functions operate.
Also - DRL's are just that - DAYLIGHT (condition) Running Lights - basically nav lights (something to let others see you - instead of YOU seeing into the distance)
DRL's are simply RATHER BRIGHT DAYLIGHT LIGHTS - to be seen by others, & not suitable for use at night, (for you to see with)
UNLESS they are used in tandem with a LOT of other as bright or brighter SPOTS / FLOODS
Having driven a 4wd vehicle both ON ROAD and across mountainous terrain & farmland (with occasional open road trips - with just "long-haul" trucks coming late at night)
I know how far the LED's allow you to see either as DRL's, or as fully kitted out SPOTS & FLOODS (with a huge array of other colours - than simply WHITE).
I could see upwards of half a mile or more with everything ON - (LEDS ONLY)
I could almost see as far ahead, with my normal 4wd VAN headlights (near useless "filament globes" they were)
Having everything on though - I could punch holes through the darkest night, lighting up not only the road ahead, but power lines high above.
That driver used normal headlights (dip & brights) and simply switched off the car's normal tail/side lights.
Or simply switched everything off and TRIED to see with his DRL's (and couldn't) thus turning the main front lights on again real quick.
Yoo he passed by me yesterday with no light going a good 80 on street I was like Yuhh and the cops going the wrong way 😭😂
