    Thank you Max and Owen for sharing the season through your eyes. Great group of lads and a pleasure to watch and get involved. Gutted but over the season we fell short. Some great times and frustration times but memories and friendships gained. Let the dust settle and see what the Dr does given the suggested financial pressures we now face. Hope you continue this channel next season. Enjoy the closed season and see you at the pre seasons. VTWD

    Really enjoyed the videos, enabling a London-based Villan to follow the team as a sort of virtual travelling fan. Sadly I went to 2 matches only - both against Fulham, both in London (CC and Wembley) and we lost both, not really looking like scoring a goal in either. Grealish did really well at Wembley and we huffed and puffed for much of the 2nd half, but overall we never seemed close to breaking their defence down. Oh well, an exciting season and here's to next year. Great videos - really look forward to more next year. GB.

    Rewatching this in 2024, it makes me realise how far we have come as a team. Looking back, I think this loss made the team that we are today. Fulham were relegated in the very next season, so it really didn't matter that much. Furthermore, going into the prem with this squad of players and manager would've been suicide, and we would've been relegated with no real chances of going back up. And now, to think that we are in a strong position to secure Champions League football, it honestly could make me cry. UTV

    Having seen this video for the first time (and being a tiny pixel in it), I thought it would be worth offering my opinion as a Fulham fan. It was, to put it mildly, not the best game of football I've ever seen. The game was full of missed sitters - Grealish in the first half (not shown here) and Johansen in the second half (again, not shown here) in particular. The Fredericks "stamp" didn't look particularly nasty from where I was sat but that said I've seen that given as red cards. I was fascinated by how the referee didn't want to send anyone off, which in my view is good refereeing. As said below, the game could have had two straight reds (plus Odoi's two yellows). I have to say that the reactions in this video to the Grealish tackle aren't blinded by bias which is always nice to see. The predictions at the start of the video are a little odd, as I expected a game completely unlike what happened given Fulham's weakness was defending and their front three was great... and still is, to an extent - the fact Cairney and Sessegnon have had awful PL seasons and Mitrovic and OK one just indicates the gulf between Championship and PL. The final few minutes were the tensest I've ever felt as a Fulham fan. Hopefully we'll both be back in the Premier League soon.

  • @adventurethrill3654
    @adventurethrill3654 Před 6 lety +4

    Here is my unbiased assessment of the game from a fulham point of view.
    In the first half, it looked fairly even until around the 15th minute, when Fulham started piling on the pressure. The goal was well worked, however it was evident that Villa needed to defend better and be more confident on the ball.
    Villa really did play well in the second half, and I was a little surprised that they didnt score. Also it turned into a fairly dirty game, with the potential for 3 red cards. One to Fredericks, one to Grealish, and the one that Odoi got.
    Fairly happy that Fulham dug deep defensively, however I wish you luck next season, and hope to be playing you again in the 2019-20 season.

    Not exactly went to plan. Before we get to downhearted let's look at the positives. Next season a lot of these "experienced" players who didn't turn up will be on to pastures new and the youngsters will be the backbone of a very good team. Forget about being in the premiership as the be all and end all, it is just a money grabbing load of tossers who will eventually ruin football. I have followed Villa from the '50s through the decline of the '60s down to the old third division when they played some of the best football I have seen. We will have our day again but in the meantime we have a derby with the baggies to look forward to and hopefully some exciting matches.
    Thank you for you videos Max and see you next season. UTV

    • @reaper060670
      @reaper060670 Před 6 lety

      Well said mate. We need this to grow. It would've been to soon for the club. With that said Bruce needs to change his ideas or he must walk away because he did make bad decisions on the day. Leaving Bjarnason out for Jedinak was an awful decision IMHO but what do I know about the game. Only we had no real mobility in the middle, even Whelan would a been a better bet than Mile ffs. Xcuse the language. The top 3 sides went up this season which is right in the end. We should've got the auto spot but Bruce didn't make the right choices at the right times and it cost us in the end.. Look we will come again and hopefully with better football played by our players because when it's all said and done we weren't good enough all season in possession and that's a fact that cannot be denied. Too many Villains have been blinkered because we were in the play offs all year and thought we only had to turn up on Saturday to win .. Take off the rose tinted specs Villains. With all that said let's go again and hopefully things change for the better. Jokanavic looks a right good manager now, eh Watford??

      @sisyphussapprentice8976 Před 6 lety

      Truth may be unpalatable but it needs saying. With the exception of one or two games such as the Wolves at home thumping we were never that easy to watch. I think the good Dr was pressurising Bruce to get promoted at any cost instead of allowing him to build a team with depth over 3 or 4 seasons. UTV

    Chin up buddy. I agree with a comment futher down, Jedinak could play Terrys role and allow us to play a player further forward not protecting Terry. He looked so slow. I disagree with experts opinions on him. We need to go with youth, they wont let you down effort wise. I feel Jack and Hogan should have done better with their headers and also Jacks shot inside the 6 yard box when he shot over. Oh for an Andy Gray on those 2 headers !!!
    All of Fulhams players looked comfortable on the ball, hurts to say it but they were the better team.

    • @alias55
      @alias55 Před 6 lety

      I get what your saying SA but these are professional players and firstly they shouldn't shirk any contact and those headers weren't exactly difficult, you aint going to score if you miss the damn goals, get the header/shot on goals and who knows what happens! (Loris Karius?)
      We need to find young players with a well rounded game and do some research into their past. Give a good coach the the raw product and they can mould into something special. we have the advantage of a rich owner, a fine history and are known for having good young players, it needs to be developed further.
      While im rambling on we should be looking at Asian players, they are technically very good and appear to be more physically able than say 20 years ago. Same goes for African players. Im sure some will come to the fore at the World cup, we wait till then we miss the boat as price goes up.

    I think the villa players and fans were shocked by Fulham and the support, completely ruined your first half strategy.
    Fair reflection at the end.
    Good luck next year, hopefully see villa Fulham in the prem in 2 yrs.

      NO we was not Shocked. Our fat shit cunt managers first half tactics were shocking. your support was shit..minimal passion and half of them will not have attended one of your games all season and NOW you have been relegated after spending £120M. We have a better manager, if we dont go up i look forward to playing your lavender london club. If we do go up.....we will not go down so shitty as you did.x

    As a Fulham fan I'm so happy to get the promotion and honestly think Fulham deserved it. However, Aston Villa - big club now look in trouble. Don't like to see that.

  • @cyberdonblue4413

    Bruce bottled it, pure and simple. He can't point the finger at the players regarding the first half after the game like he did. They were HIS tactics - practised in training all week - so the fact that the players were defending on the edge of our own box for 45 minutes is BRUCE'S ERROR NOT THE PLAYERS! They don't just suddenly decide to throw everything up the wall and do their own thing. They are experienced professionals who follow the instructions given to them by their manager. That's why they've all been good players in their time.
    Those Middlesbrough tactics only worked because Pullis is as negative as Bruce and they (Boro')could hardly muster a shot on goal over 2 games. It was obvious to everyone but Bruce that those tactics wouldn't work against Fulham. And why does Bruce have to wait till half time to admit that he's wrong? Why couldn't he just pass word to Chester and Terry to move everybody 20 yards further up the pitch? When we did that in the second half we bossed the game. I can't stand another season of Bruce's negativity. I hope he leaves and we get a decent manger - even Mickey Mouse would be more positive than Bruce. UTV VTID

    I watched the game and was hoping you would win it for the Midlands. That first half was very poor, showed too much respect to Fulham and they had it too easy to play their football and scored a well worked goal. I thought Grabban was very isolated upfront and the gap from the midfield to him was huge. I think playing Jedinak to protect Terry negates you going forward. If Terry didn’t need this extra cover, then this would allow you play Onomah or Lansbury or someone else in midfield and push you further up the field to support Grabban and for closing down their midfield three.
    Fair play to you for your match summary at the end, as it must be hard after coming so close to promotion. The championship is a tough league and gets harder to get out of each season. It will be an interesting summer ahead for you with so many decisions to be made on all your loan players and big earners, and if to stick with Bruce or try another approach. Stick with them and I’m sure you will be right amongst it again next season.

      Fair assessment. We should have started with the energy of Bjarnason instead of sitting in with Jedinak, in my opinion. Hopefully now our younger guys get their long awaited chance in our first team. The money model has not worked. We need to promote and develop youngsters within the club.

    You guys NEEDED to get promoted as FFP is going to kill you next season now on top of your best players possibly being tempted to play for a PL team. Next season is going to be tough financially as you best might of moved on and FFP will stop you from spending on decent replacements.
