I went to see The Burnt City by @punchdrunk5919 the other day and I've not stopped thinking about it since. This song song from Street Legal seems to evoke a lot of similar imagery.

You play better than Dylan.😂 Great cover. Love the picking. Definitely adds a different colour to the song. Can't see too well but is that a Martin Junior You're playing? My old friend bought me a Martin Dreadnaught Junior recently to cheer me up after cancer surgery followed by chemo. And it definitely did cheer me up so much. Almost worth getting cancer for 😂. Would be great if you made a tutorial video of the chords and picking style. I'm guessing it's some variation of Travis picking? Just an idea. Thanks again.👍 By the way, kudos to you if you've memorized these lyrics. Not sure I could pull it off.
Haha, thanks man, hope that Martin is getting some action! Mine is a 000-15, all mahogany. I do actually have a plan to do a lesson on this, at least the riff anyway, so look out for that soon. And I did memorise the lyrics! I did some image association in my head. It's convenient that the imagery is so strong, but it still took me a bloody long time. As a great man once said, "I'll know my song well before I start singin'". Cheers!
I’ve dabbled in guitar and am mind boggled by your skill on guitar let alone coordinating it with singing. It represents hours, even years of practice.
Absolutely wonderful!
This is a mighty fine and noble interpretation that exceeds expectations. It held my attention vividly from beginning to end!
So well done. Bravo my brother.
Cheers Craig!
This is an absolutely brilliant cover 👍👍👍
Thanks Richard!
Fantastic and, above all, clear
A really stunning version of an already perfect song. Well done man. It's a goal of mine to be able to play and sing this song someday and this is inspirational. Thank you sir.
No one can tell a story like Dylan greatest musician of all time, but indeed if he had your voice more would recognize this. Good job.
Thanks Mike! I think his voice was sounding great during that era.
And Aquarius Era
Parfait!!!
Merci Bernard!
Stunning version of a stunning song. Gave me goosebumps, thank you for recording this ❤
This is great arrangement and performance. Well done!
Cheers Jay!
Great stuff there
Thanks Myles!
This is amazing!! Wanna learn it, do a tutorial please!!
I've had a few requests so I think it will be my next lesson!
I can tell you're a big fan with a great ear. And this is one of my all-time favorite Dylan songs... Great arrangement... I loved it, and I will definitely add it to my already extensive playlist. I am a very knowledgeable music fan, writer and musician and I applaud your efforts and thoughtful interpretation of this song. You did yourself proud with this version and I hope you have other music available for what I'm sure will be an ever growing fan base... I will look you up in the days ahead for other videos. Tonight I was watching an excellent interview with T-Bone Burnett (who is my favorite producer) when I saw your video available and since I have always loved this song, I decided to give you a listen... I am so very glad I did. I am very impressed. It is inspiring... One thing I hope happens for you is that Mr. Dylan hears and watches this and throws some light your way. I've heard he can do that... And one other thing, I think I have a good ear and detect an accect.(Scottish? maybe you're from England) I dunno, maybe it's just me not hearing picking it up. I would just like to say, that I didn't read any of the comments as it's quite late and i really want to finish the interview tonight... So, since I didn't read any of them I'm not sure if anyone also picked up on this or mentioned it for that matter... if they have, I apologize. But for all I know you could hail from New Jersey... lol
very nice
Damn, this was beautiful. Truth & beauty will save the world. Thank you, dear sir.
Thank you Rajko, very kind.
Awesome!! Loved it!
This guy is great! Just found him tonight and everything he does is excellent!!!
Thanks Ian, very kind!
So cool
Cheers Brett!
To this very day Dylan himself says he doesn't know how he did it. He also says that he can't do it anymore.
And I guess if you really think about it that's exactly how it should be.
It's been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
You did well.
Great version!! Thank you!!!
Thanks Terry!
Wonderful. Your interpretation is beautiful, as is your performance. I love the way you nailed the horn parts...great coloration on the video, too !!!
Cheers Mike! I've just done a lesson on that part. I didn't quite get the lighting how I wanted it as the sun was going down but glad the colour is OK.
So so beautiful and fresh interpretation of this masterpiece. I went straight to make me a coffee.... 😂
legendary song , and a fantastic cover !
Thanks Michael!
Thank you for another great video and being an inspiration for a beginner finger picker. Your one of the best finger pickers on CZcams.
Thanks James! I'm sure that's not true, but please to hear it. Good luck with your fingerpicking journey.
you nailed it sir. ... wow. . ... a . . i ... im swedish,, sir, i love. u.
This version is now canon
A good song for Easter morning. Mary Magdalene at the tomb.
She wakes him up
48 hours later, the sun is breaking
Near broken chains
Mountain laurel and rolling rocks
She's begging to know
What measures he now will be taking
He's pulling her down and she's clutching
On to his long golden locks
"Gentlemen", he said
"I don't need your organization"
"I've shined your shoes"
I've moved your mountains and marked your cards
But Eden is burning
Either get ready for elimination
Or else your hearts must have the courage
For the changing of the guards
You're talented! Thanks for this rendition!
Thanks Simon!
Amazing adaptation and interpretation, loved it, could you make a tutorial of the picking? Also, you look so much like Edward Norton.
Fantastic cover David, well played man,
Thanks man!
Wow this is so good

Many thanks!
Yess, dude 👍👍
I enjoyed this take on this lovely song
Thanks Daniel!
this is a great cover
You're amazing, David. I hope the next fingerpicking version of Bob Dylan is The Man in Me
It won't be the next one, but I'll add it to the list.
Okay I've listened to about 20 covers of this song at this point and yours is the best. One item of constructive criticism take it or leave it. It sounds like you're in a rush to get through the song. I feel like if you just let it breathe a little bit you can take it to another level
Love it!
Thanks Noah!
A superb cover. Thank you.
Thankyou Chris!
bela versão!!! From Brasil
Obrigado!
Great performance! Is Edward Norton related to you?
I don't think so 😆
Great cover bud
Cheers Gary!
Wonderfull cover of a great song! I Wont say who you look like!

Bon courage ami.

I'm not guarding anything. It's just a chill parking spot.
🤣
Fantastic!!!! Congratulations for the cover...is posible to find the tab?
Thanks! I don't have it at the moment... Maybe one day!
Loved this. What a great cover. Don’t suppose you would be kind enough to send the tab/picking pattern for this?
Ahh, I don't have it yet, but I might do a lesson for this. Check out my other lesson in the meantime as it's a similar style.
Wonderfull cover
@@davidbroad Thankyou
Never heard this great folk song before. Who wrote it, anyone?
Bob Dylan wrote it. Who else could write a song like this!?
have you heard the gaslight anthem version of this??
Nope, I will investigate!
