Um…are you forgetting the fact that he severely abused his students for years, tried to get an innocent man sentenced to a fate worse than death because of a high school grudge(he probably knew that Sirius was innocent because Snape was a death eater himself), and only switched sides when something he valued was at risk, not because he rejected their beliefs? He was indeed abused and broken, but that does not give him permission to be an abominable human being(which was pretty much what he was for most of his life). Thanks for listening to my rant.
