One of the best, DJ Krush kills chill/trip-hop, right up there with Thievery Corporation.
My tattooist played this during a 5hr session just the other day. God bless him for keeping me well entertained during my hours of pure pain ;-)
The tattoo artist who did the huge reaper on my back had put trip hop during our sessions, 4-5 years ago. I had a 6 hour session once. It took 15 hours to finish it. I feel ya mate :)
Xavier STG Shit dude, how much did that cost? You have any pics of it? I was Lucifer on my back and I want it to be fucking huge.
Jack Gullette The artist was my friend's stepfather so he made it for 300$. He told me it was worth at least 1k... He passed away in October 2013 of a car accident... R.I.P
He had such a gr8 idea, ttttthis tattooist ;-)
Yes m8.
Krush is a legend. Retired Yakuza gangster, one of the few who could just get out and make a career as a DJ.
Yakuza aren't so bad. I sat beside a couple of them on a plane. They ordered beer and ice cream and chatted me up. *shrug*
& he kept all his fingers
Yakuza can retire?
@@tovarisch3039 yo, that's insane
@@tovarisch3039 that’s why he was out, cause they did yubitsume to one of his friend(’s finger) and he was like nahh fuck this
DJ Krush is the best. Gives me the chills everytime I listen
that first track is heart-touching.
I like your musical tastes gurl, I hope you don't mind me stalking you in order to find new songs. (God that came out wrong)
lol, if you're stalking my likes you might find that they're all over the place :p enjoy
Well duh that's why I'm stalking you. I vaguely remember seeing one of your comments on some other song I also fancied. So I'm thinking you probably have some more of them songs I enjoy ohh so much.

I always come to this album from time to time. It's like a checkpoint. Glad i've found this piece of art. Hopes are, to share it with somebody in a room, with wine, and stuff.
Update: it seems I still comeback, less often now.
@@MattsDT good on you for coming back at all my dude
Did you share it in the room? With the wine?
@@benschebella673 I don't remember, don't think so. At least not with the wine

So nostalgic. This album was one of the first things I listened to growing up
How in the actual fuck did this album escape my radar for 16 years???
I randomly purchased this album from a bookstore when I was in like 6/7 grade - duck chase is such a visceral memory.
Just from the replies all thumbs up likes that his impact is the same. Dj Krush in the past has taken me through very tough times in the past decades with peace and love and has meant so much to my spiritual development. Zen still and always will be.
Ones like zap mama that sing in krush's songs shows how much talented and sensible to good music he is, a multitude of good sounds and always that taste of the ancient eternal ethereal aesthetical superb sonidos
Much luv krush, i have crush on you.
ancient eternal ethereal aesthetical superb sonidos 👐🤟🤌👏like how you see Mally
Zen, yes, it's exactly what I want to hear in this moment of my life
I just.. have so much love for DJ Krush and his music.
I bought CD prolly back in the early 2000's...still dope. Word up.
FLAC files are a higher resolution then WAV... It's on Amazon.
No, FLACs are not higher resolution than WAV. WAV by definition is uncompressed audio. FLAC is a losslessly compressed audio. Provided the same sampling frequency and bit depth, they should be exactly the same quality.
Flac is free Wav is windows. Only difference.
Sorry Jong, but this is not true. At least go to wikipedia and read the first paragraph.
whitestork I mean sound quality. The average person would have no idea what one they are listening too in a blind test,
Seeing you live was one of the best nights of my life. Thank you DJ Krush. Peace and love!
King Krush true legend always enjoy listening to his masterpieces while on long drives
Vision of art. darkest underground track ever by faaaar. Albums a one of a kind gem, big ups the master
Krush thank you for this almighty masterpiece
I love the cover art. The ground and the sky just blend so perfectly with the sound.
I credit Dj Krush, Flying lotus , Dj Shadow and Nujabes for helping me discover the genre trip hop and break beats. That lead me on to discovering also another genre called "Drum N bass/ Jungle" that is foreign here in the United states.
midnight marauder it’s not foreign dubstep just got in the way for the most part. We have a drum and bass monthly that’s been going on for many years. Other big cities still have small drum and bass scenes. It’s just not as big as it was in the late 90s early 2000s
@@benjatheninja3113 actual drum n bass/jungle originated in the U.K. like metalheadz records and for the most part it's still underground. I get what you're saying though you might hear DnB in some raves here in the U.S. but it sounds similar to marshmallow's music 😂
midnight marauder I’m fully aware of the origin of dnb. It is my favorite genre and I’ve been listening to it since 1998. Actually there isn’t many raves this day in age. There is music festivals and that’s where you here bs pop music like marshmallow. There is still underground scenes in the USA that have dnb scenes. Like I said I live in Houston and we have a drum and bass monthly called Frenzi that plays nothing but drum and bass. They always have a good headliner from hospital records, metalheadz, ram records and etc. Austin and Dallas also have a small but decent drum and bass scene as well and they are just a few hours away from me. You just gotta know where to look🙄
i dont smoke anymore so i use this type of music to really enjoy cooking and eating!
How boring.
@@justdev8965 you replied to comment made six years ago? Lol thanks for reminding me of this song again😚

AWESOME , back in days was listening at this album and Kakusei too..... "OSHI DESU!!!!!"
Always loved Dj krush, for his many talents, one his to mix trip hop with great instrumentals. Also one of the few trip-hop artists able to mix this music with instrumentals in a very subtle fashion.
2023... Dj krush foreva!
Someone recommended Dj Krush to me and this is what I came across. God bless the person who recommended me this.

The story behind candle chant is really sad
Interview with DJ Krush
What’s the story behind the lyrics of Candle Chant (A Tribute)?
There was a 24-year-old kid that was a big fan. He was a half-Japanese and half-black kid that rapped and was dying of cancer. His mother called me up directly and said my son is sick and he respects you so much and asked if I would mind visiting him at the hospital because it would give him the courage to fight. So I went to the hospital with Boss the MC to visit him. Since he was a rapper, I wanted to do a song with him but he couldn’t move enough to make it to the recording studio so we talked to the hospital and was going to bring the equipment there so we could record at the hospital. So we were planning it out but two weeks later he passed away. So the song is about him and about the pure connection of a very limited time together and how certain circumstances brought us together. The last lyric in Japanese on that song says you will always be in our soul so it’s about connecting with somebody and no matter where they go, we are always together and he will always be here. He was a very powerful young man. He was half- black and half Japanese so he was probably discriminated against and kind of picked on in school. He always said that he’s not mixed blood but has the power of two bloods and that’s why he felt he had the power to beat the cancer so it made a very powerful impact on both Boss and myself.
damn this is beautiful
Favorite album. Favorite sounds.
I first heard about DJ Krush back in 1998, from the film Blade.
At track 2 i had to hit the thumbs up before I heard the rest of the album. Solid
the number 1 instrumental is super nice
cheers and peace
Natural Skull its why i come back time after time
Damn.... Damn... How'd I miss this!! Sort of reminds me of LTJ Bukem. Crisp and soulful! Love it.
He'll be 'playing' in Vienna on 4 March. Can't wait to see him ...
the first song may be the best hip hop instrumental ever
listen nujabes if u liked that song
+Noah Stout nujabes is pretty much the gateway producer to better stuff like this so im sure most if not all dj krush listeners already know about him ;)
+Shinobi I actually found out about Krush before Nujabes even though my musical exposure was the other way around (Samurai Champloo (NJ) then Pandora (K)).
+Shinobi I actually found about Krush from a game called Little Big Planet back in the day, and Song 2 is still just as great as it was when I was 8.
swell guy Sono d'accordo!
A true jewel, loved this album back in the day. Can't believe I reconnected to the doneness :)
DJ Krush for president. How can someone not like this😜
