J. P. Hartley famously wrote, “ the past is a foreign country, they do things differently there”. And the same with late Victorian and Edwardian decorating. I found this house utterly enchanting and captivating, and a looking glass into how our forefathers lived. All their obsessions with natural history, collecting and exploring is evident in this house. Thank you for sharing this.
All the bric-a-brac and dead animals is WAY over the top. It's a little like the house in The Addams Family TV show. I've always considered trophy heads creepy, plus I felt bad seeing all those poor dead birds under glass domes! And who'd want a dead tarantula on display? - Eeewww! If I had a wonderful old Victorian house with authentic furnishings, I would buy authentic period furniture yes, but only furniture that is used daily. My keepsakes and heirlooms I'd keep to a minimum and in a glass display case. I would have a less cluttered, more zen living space. Imagine all the things the owners of this house have to dust!

Very interesting house indeed! Many interior objects are real materpieces! The only wrong thing is the dead animals on the walls of the livingroom.
Clear case of upper class hoarder - the landing alone has five (!) little cabinet tables.
too much death
if it was just the furniture and plants showcasing it, I would have given it a like
