Good part of fictional series is that there are plenty of them, most telling many battles and wars.
      - The Wheel of Time.
      - The Black Company.
      - Both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k.
      - War of the Lance in Dragonlance.
      - Battletech's 4th Succession War.
      - Dune.
      - I would even consider the more fictional (and popular) Three Kingdoms period and King Arthur's to be both worthy settings.

@@WizardsandWarriors good video. however the eotheod moved up the andiun some time before eorl took over as lord. they made their homes in the area between mount gundabad, the grey mountains & mirkwood. it's this that made the prospects of messengers getting to the eotheod slim, as they needed to ride past Dol Guldur, which is controlled by sauron. eorl & his host was helped by Galadriel in order to get past Dol Guldur with his army, she conjured a mist that hid them & increased their speed. the fact that sauron had no knowledge of this army, made their charge into the enemy host all that more effective.

I think the early 2000's were at the point of the perfect mix between CGI and actors. CGI was good enough to look good and realistic, but expensive enough to not be overused.
Before the Lord of the Rings, most battles felt too small or chaotic. After lord of the rings, battles became to computer generated and didn't feel natural anymore. The battle of the five armies didn't have the weight the battles in LOTR had.
I wonder if we will ever see a masterpiece as Lord of the Rings again.
The only real flaw I see in the Lord of the Rings movies was Frodo. Who in the books felt much braver than in the movies. You could identify the influence of the ring and his own character more in the books. Frodo also felt too helpless in the movies.

Also I think it was 6 or 12 man stunt team to create the entire armies. So you guys can't blame them as they didn't have enough people either 🤷 the same amount compared to lord of the rings commitment films.

Just a minor mistake: the Éothéod weren't established south of Dol Guldur but far in the north in North Anduin near Ered Mithrim and Gundabad between the rivers Greylin and Langwell in TA 1977. They were lead by Frumgar at the time and migrate his people to the north where they established Framsburg as a capital (although they had been established south of Mirkwood after the destruction of Rhovanion). Eorl and his forces had to cross Lorien in order to help Gondor.

There's a minor imprecision on the map that is shown at 11:18. The land between Bree and the Weather Hills was not controlled by Rhudaur originally, it was disputed territory. Rhudaur's territory consisted of (according to LOTR, Appendix A) the land between the Ettenmoors, the Weather Hills and the Misty Mountains, and the Angle between the Hoarwell and the Loudwater. Bree itself was very close to Cardolan's border (on the Great Road) and could have been part of that kingdom. But great video though. I love Kings and Generals and this new channel is great. Might not compare to Tolkien's lore in a video like this. For example "The Witcher video" which just has many more visible holes in how the history and battles are set up especially when dissected into a video mostly about battle tactics, it's scary how realistic Tolkien is in his writing even about rediculous things compared to reality and he was no battle field tactician so I wonder how something like Warhammer 40k would compare.

Very interesting! A lot of details and perspectives that had not yet been covered by other channels (such as Nerd of the Rings, Men of the West and History of the Ages). So far, W&W focuses less on long quotes and lore, and more on military strategy and diplomatic relations. A great addition!

I'm absolutely in love of what you're doing here, but I only want to give a slight bit of critique right now, because I'm sure many other LotR nerds will bring this up in the future; the pronunciation of certain words are slightly off. For instance, the 'ai' in "Dúnedain" is not pronounced as "eyyy" but more "ah-ee" if that makes sense. There is a pronunciation guide in the Return of the King novel in the appendices if I'm not mistaken

In middle school I loved reading the appendixes for Return of the King, but didn't fully grasp the context of how the Numenorians related to the other peoples of Middle Earth.
This channel and "Nerd of the Rings" have done an amazing job visualizing Tolkien's history of Gondor, Arnor, and Rohan.

It's also hinted in Unfinished Tales that saruman could have located Isildur's body in his exportation for the Ring, and disposed of it in his furnaces,as in Orthanc after Sauron's defeat they located a treasure-trove of items, with the help of Gimli the Dwarf, one of which could only have come from Isildur.
