I have an associate of applied science in computer information Technoloy: software programming from my community college and I'm going for a bachelor's in management information systems from University of Las Vegas Nevada. Your videos have helped me stay motivated and keep it pushing. I've been watching your videos from when Initially first started my journey for my associates. thanks a bunch Tim! The current state of the job market and with the rise of AI has me feeling down sometimes, and than I realize I should stay motivated, continue learning and it will pay off.
For people who are struggling to learn code and become stuck on in some sort ofm learning curve. Just know that when I first started, functions were hard to grasp for me, I had a hard time, and thought I would never get past it. This was 2 years ago and am far ahead of that now. Always come back try again, reiterate, look at different sources and I promise you that you will eventually understand it.
I might be late but I want to say thank you, I recently just became a software engineer intern and I have been having a hard time compared to the other two interns. I needed this.

Dang man I started learning November of 22’ but started working 70 hours a week at my job in March of 23’ and got lost in the sauce now it’s been over a year and haven’t coded since 😢 but watching this video got me excited all over again let’s goooo

🔥100% agreed. I am PPC specialist I started learning to code in 2020, still didn't get a job as a developer. I do Python,JavaScript, React Js, Node Js and cloud Azure DevOps and still no job😅But I started the company running Facebook and Google ads charge them $3000 per account and I build custom software for ecommerce sellers, everything is optimized and running automatically with Python and Cloud. I feel so confident with this BEST skill problem solving. My script landing me clients automatically to my Google Spreadsheet and sends 1000 cold emails everyday. If I would have $100M in bank account what I would. I would CODE CODE and only CODE.

Really appreciate this advice. I'm 31 and I used my GI bill to get a BS in CS. Just graduated and man I still feel so behind considering the hoops some of these employers want you to jump through just to get an entry level job. I have family so I don't have a bunch of time to dedicate to personal projects, leetcode, extra studying etc, but I will persevere because I really do love programming.
These is a really good advice not only for the "green", but for any coder with whatever experience behind their backs. Frustration from difficulties with job routine is a common life pattern for anyone who's engaged in challenging work. So I wish you good luck, all coding prospectors. May each piece of your effort convert into a product which brings you joy and satisfaction with time.
Something about letting a little time pass and relaxing that helps your subconscious solve the problem. Sometimes the answer comes to you while you're relaxing or doing something mildly physical.

The 'eureka' phenomena. It's a real thing. Apply tension to a problem, walk away, let lightning strike.
Same and a weird thing happened to me as well. Early morning around 5-30 when I’m half awake the problem I’ve been struggling came to mind and Got an idea how to solve while I was half asleep, applied the idea and got successful result later that day😮. I was really surprised.
That’s totally true ! I solved more problems in my shower that in front of my laptop 😅
It is like you are personally talking to me! I'm struggling and regretting for choosing the path I have taken. You motivated me.... I will stand up to tackle the challenges!

Working already a year as Frontend dev on a project with deep nested Angular reactive forms which sometimes is getting me crazy and i wanna throw my laptop through the window but after solving the Bug i spent hours and hours on ,the feeling of solving this problem is just FUCKING AMAZING
I agree that every problem does have a solution. It's whether you can afford it or are willing to part with what it costs that's the real question.

Well you are absolutely right and i agree with you. It's not an easy path to take and you need to enjoy it on a same time as well. Well i'll been learning software developing about 3 years by now and i still feel like i'm complete beginner some how. Also i have been trying to find a proper job as a junior developer and it seams it's nearly impossible even when you have experience i thing major reason is because AI came and seniors will use it as like junior developer on-site. I may be wrong, but this is the feeling at the moment. But for those who have enough balls to start this path i will say it's totally worth, but keep in mind that it ain't going to be easy. There's tons of easier ways to earn money, but as long as you enjoy it is the key word here. Good luck to find out your path. Also it was a awesome video to hear it keep's motivate to go further.

Well, I work as a developer on a small project, but it's only a part-time job, not full-time. All I can say is to keep searching, as I do. It's not the easiest thing to do these days.

I'm 52....and almost at retirement. I have been dreaming of my own web development business for years. Here I am doing it. While shooting for a goal of helping small businesses get their foothold online is not getting a job at Google, it's my dream and I won't let it go. It's freedom for me and gives me a creative, and lucrative outlet. Within two years I will have reached my goal. The point being, don't be held back by ANYTHING. I may be dating myself, but "Just Do It."

Perseverance is key to your future. Frustrated by a bug or problem? Good! You’re learning if you keep at it. 10 years later from IT sysadmin to dev I can remember those problems that haunted me for months. Being discouraged. Thinking I’m not good enough. Keep going! You’re better than you were yesterday and the day before. You’ll solve that problem eventually and every problem after it. ASK FOR HELP! Never be too prideful and full of yourself to ask for help. THANK those who helped you and be sure to help others along the way. You’ll become part of something much bigger than yourself. By the time you hit that senior dev master yoda level and you’ve paid your dues you’ll have a ton of experience and wisdom that will help you lead dev teams to victory in your projects.
The job market is way oversaturated. Good luck getting an interview.

One big thing is social media. There are plenty of examples of “prodigy” like developers. However, the full timeline isn’t always clear. Each person has their own challenges. After recently changing to a comp sci major I’ve learned that some things come natural to me, and other concepts I have to excitement with repeatedly.
im a 40+ old cabinet maker, wood worker, that always want it to learn programing! im learning computer science, python, and have learn a lot including, Generated AI, comand line, how to work with data using postgreSQL, sql,git , github, lua, intro to kotlin, intro to cyber security! have made AI training,and maybe like 20 program projects, but i feel that im stock, not in learning but in confidence, since i start this late i feel that doesn't matter how much i learn! im always behind every body else! i dont know if i could get a job or where to start, since im my own boos i cant close the shop to make a full time study, in other term im about to quit, here in PR there not many job "that i know" for student or what is the minimum knowledge to apply! helppppppp!!!!!!!!
Don’t get disheartened. A senior dev and new to the industry me spent 3 weeks trying to resolve a bug while pairing and we were both so frustrated as we couldn’t find where the isssue was coming from. While he was on holiday in the 4th week of looking at this and feeling quite lost at this point.. I noticed some muppet had hardcoded a date into some method deep within a massive codebase. Never give up

The hardest thing is to NOT quit, you will get there. Just try to enjoy the journey along they way. Love the idea of pushups to get some of that energy out. I have a feeling JavaScript will have me looking like a body builder very quickly.

really nice video, im in my 30 and recently started my carrer as a developer after a complitely professional shift in my 25 going back to university and studing cs and coding. Dont give up and keep following your dream and passion
I would say that if you’re interested in a certain language, blinders are a necessity. It’s so easy to get sidetracked by other videos, posts, articles…. Study the language you want and work toward an end goal or project.

Didn't go to school for CS and took me years of Python scripting before getting my first QA job then another 2 years before my first dev job. It takes a long time but if you stick with it you can do it!

VIDEO SUGGESTION:
Do a video on how to read CODE and better understand it.
I have kind of studied the basics of of Django and can build any website with Crud operations on the top of my brain, but find it hard to know what exactly “def login(request):
If request.method == “POST”:
return render(request, index.html)” means or how to read it. eg this is an example I actually know what this means but find it hard to read code from packages and libraries etc

Very good video, i learned python from you then learned web dev and skipped python as i think no one hires a junior python developer, I learned html, css and js basics then react and next js only to find out I'm just in a rabbit hole of learning but nothing in return, now I'm working in aluminum carpentry, underpaid ($2.5 per day) seriously! A very painful reality, 4 years of learning and nothing in return, maybe it's the fact i live in 3rd world country just say it all.
I'm not complaining but if you're learning to code and living in 3rd world country just think to move out as soon as possible.
I really like your videos and have been watching since I started my computer science degree. I've now finished, but I can't find a job, and the market is so bad for juniors. It's frustrating.

This video might be the most important video, it is inspirational but it also help you get out of your own head and realize, small steps are the only way you can climb a mountain, and you have to be consistent, not only that, but it is hard, and it's ok to recognize how hard it is.
That simplest solving bugs line is so real..
2:37 there I'd a soulotion and everything is possible but there is things that the way is just isn't worth it or so hard that you need to have a 10000 lifetime for it
As a new web developer who gonna enter the industry this week, my advice is don't learn to code on the tutorial. Go on straight on the documentation. If you relay on the video tutorial or even in paid courses, it is mostly not updated for the new implementation on the framework. It held be back for long time because some of what I learned is not working anymore when I starting to practice it. Watch only the tutorial related to the topic of your current study but don't relay on video tutorial 100%. Just read the documentation carefully and code it with your self.
This makes sense thinking about it.
What do you refer to as the documentations? Is it books and pdfs on that topics?

As an electronic system engineer I am coding a little for the projects and I started to use AI tools to work faster but I am not working with the full time programmers. Would like to hear your thoughts as a full time coder about it. It's been a couple of months since the big coming out of OpenAI, chatGPT and the like so we start to see the trends of the AI future capabilities with regards to coding... what do you think of it in regards to the future of programming 5 and 10 years from now?

2 years now learning coding, I remember those times where I literally can't find the bug until I try to became a computer(like a debugger) because back then i don't know how to use a debugger. Now I know how to use it, but
I am more use to become a computer myself that I forgot i have a debug tool

Would love to go through the course, but even with remote work the details like taxes and contracts are foreign to me literally and figuratively :D Went through around 70% of your older python course around a year or 2 ago, but never got to finishing it, but love all your content!
Those details are all very specific to your situation and it’s always best to have advice from a local professional. It wouldn’t be responsible for me to advise on European tax situations when I don’t live there. Once you land a job all of that can be sorted out pretty easily, I wouldn’t not become a developer because you don’t understand taxes at this very moment.

All the flexibility that you mention and I have been looking for a job for 5 months. With a masters in applied math, knowing some C/C++, confident in Python, finishing a ZTM web dev course and I have gotten 2 interviews in all those months.
Maybe it's my shitty country, but it feels like right now it doesn't matter. They ask for years of experience and otherwise you are F. And I have a project inspired in one of your videos, one completely on my own. It haven't been important yet. Still waiting for a 3rd interview... F my life...

So i am torn because i keep hearing how it is virtually impossible to get a job in software development as a junior developer out of a boot camp or course, Is it harder to get a job coming out of course career. Also i am trying to decide between courseras either ibm certificate or metas front-end developer course. Big difference is cost they offer a monthly subscription compared to 200$ every 2 weeks or i think course careers is about 700$ one time fee. .
