  • Here is a great example of how videos should be presented for the riding skill assessment to become an IKO Kitesurf Coach Level 1
The example is for the Hydrofoil discipline but can be an inspiration for all other disciplines: Freeride, FreeStyle, Wave Riding, and Wingfoil.
    The video's good because:
    1. The camera operator used a 8-20X zoom lens and the kiter is in focus.
    2. The camera operator used a mono or tripod to stabilize the video and used a good angle to the sun (sun on the back or side, never in front of the camera).
    3. The kiter is easy to recognize.
    4. They included a 10 second intro about themselves while facing the camera, ideally with the kite in the air.
    5. They’re wearing a helmet and an impact vest.
    6. They demonstrated all requested skills per discipline (see your Coach Manual Level 1).
    7. The video is edited, so it is as short as possible.
    8. Each maneuver has been shown only once. Choose which one is the best and keep it. Demonstrating a frontroll, for example, should only require approximately seconds of footage (riding for 2 sec - take off 1 sec - frontroll 4 sec - landing 1 sec - riding for 2 sec).
    9. The video has been checked to ensure all the steps above have been met.
    10. Smile.
