Tomb Raider Underworld - Relic 6 - Arctic Sea

- Obtaining the relic in the Yggdrasil level of Tomb Raider: Underworld. This is the 6th and final relic in the PC/PS3/Xbox 360 game.

This probably took me 50+ tries, (and a LOT of cuss words because the game cheats), but here are a few things that I found helpful: turn down the music or turn it off; after pushing the 2nd glyph, and jumping to the platform then the second tall pillar, aim for the far end of the wall; take your time setting up jumps because the camera likes to re-position at the last second; when going for the 3rd glyph, jump about half way onto the fallen column, then run and jump to get to the next platform; jump back to the fallen column, and tap "sprint" in bursts; once you get up the last column and push the fourth, make sure you line up the jump to the wall; if she hits the pole and won't climb, move back a step and then go forward; I missed the column before the platform and landed on the small stump, then jumped back to the tall one, climbed up to the platform, grappled and took and extra swing, so you have more time than you think. ABOVE ALL ELSE, FOCUS BUT DON'T PANIC!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
Thanks Stella, I serious think I died a billion times on this part. And the worst thing is that you have to start the puzzle all the way over from the beginning once you die. I can't even describe my frustration with this part. It was like a replay of me dying just over and over again. But I just kept trying like a True Survivor and I finally obtained the last relic. 🙏

It certainly is. This one probably took me 20+ tries. If a game incorporates timed platforming, it should also incorporate better controls. :(
congrats bro. i feel your pain. i tried it now for 2 hours instantly and died like 500 times. i now finally i got this fucking relict! I was already about to eat my couch!
Hey I did it! Finally. On PS3 Trilogy edition (may be less glitchy?) Hardest was jumping to top of pole midway.. Know this is old to most, but a chance to thank Stella for all her walkthroughs & advice over the years - Great work 👍Thanks Stella.

What a pain in the butt. When your game is pretty glitchy and buggy you really shouldn't have a timed event like this. Thanks for the help with it.
Thank god you made this video, Stella. I've explored this room from one end to the other, but never found all the symbols. Now I know on what to rely on when I start Treasure Hunt mode!

For what it's worth for anyone stuck on getting this last relic...it took me about a dozen or so attempts (or maybe it was like two dozen, I lost count) to finally get this last relic. It is frustrating to say the least with the lousy controls--you have to be very precise with your jumps and the direction you're facing. Anyhow, after I got the relic, I decided to try a little experiment...
I reloaded my save before getting the relic and turned on the invincibility cheat (on PS3, hold L2 then press X, R2, triangle, R2, square, L1--you should hear a chime if you did it correctly). Now, jump over to that middle platform from where you have to grapple the ring and swing on up to the ledge where the relic is located. With the invincibility cheat turned on, you can just swing over unharmed to the ledge! So no need to activate those four glyphs (or whatever they are) that turn off the waterfall!
If you do happen to fall into the "eitr" (that bluish-white liquid), you can do one of two things: either reload your save OR stand near a ledge that is just above the surface, plant a grenade right there, keep running into the spot, and when it blows up, as long as you are running straight into the ledge, it will do a weird animation that tosses you up into the air (keep pushing forward on the left analog stick when you're up in the air) and you should land back on the ledge, out of the liquid. Every time I fell into that liquid I would have to reload my save until I found out this neat trick! Maybe someone else already figured it out, oh well...

Thanks! That helped a lot and I finally got the gold relic without having to backtrack to activate those for glyphs.
would you believe it.. this is the ONLY thing that's keeping me from getting this game's Platinum! no matter how i jump after the grapple, Lara just WOULDN'T grab the ledge! and its so frustrating, since if you get it wrong you have to do it all the switches over again, no use in saving the game! well I got here with the help of your videos anyways thanks man.

@stellalune i'm playing the xbox 360 version, ive tried that to get rid of it but when i die later on trying to get relic he just comes back haha. i can now, with ease, get to the 4th switch, i just grenade the thrall. i actually keep dying when trying to jump from pillar to the low wall at 1:17 now though ahah....
this will be the most rewarding achievement i have EVER gotten when i eventually do it hahah (thanks to your awesome walkthrough)
tried getting the relic, but i died 100 times so i completely gave up. i think my lara is defective.
I was having trouble making the run with the motorcycle to the Mayan Temple, until I figured out that the USB cable connecting my controller to the PC was defective. I switched cables and problem solved! (Of course, Idk what system you're playing. Hope this helps.)
Pardon me,Dear Joe Travis,I was wrong in my first reply,the enemies are attacking you whilst you still are in the first(previous)chapter of that final part,Artic Sea,the next part starts,in the same big room,after,and only after Lara utilizes Thor's hammer on that device that Natla has just unlocked.After that you will no more encounter enemies in that room,and peacefully you can collect the last piece of treasure and the relic.I activated 3 of the symbols before,and the doorframe after & got it

@KickAssGamez Treasure Hunt was designed for that purpose, so you shouldn't have trouble. Glitched treasures are rare and usually occur in a replay of the regular game, not in Treasure Hunt mode. You should be fine. :)

God I fucking hated this one, I kept falling in the blue stuff because the thing wouldn't register where I was jumping, but I finally managed it.

@89craignufc You could try dropping down to the ledge instead of jumping onto the tall post.Then jump to the short post and from there to the wall. It'll take a couple of extra seconds, but maybe if you're fast enough in the other parts of the run, it'll be enough.
@KickAssGamez Yes, you should be able to get all treasures and relics in Treasure Hunt mode. That's what it was designed for. I've heard of a few possible glitches with missing treasures, but so far nothing on missing relics.

No prob. I still don't have all the Xbox achievements. The 'master speed demon' glitched so even though I have all the individual speed demon achievements, it didn't count the master achievement. I'll replay one of these days.... Good luck. You're in the home stretch. :)
@deathdealer004 I'm afraid I don't know. Different version, maybe, or different difficulty level? This video was made with the PC game on medium ("Tomb Raider") difficulty. I found the enemies in this area were a lot more aggressive and respawned for much longer in the Xbox 360 version, even on the same difficulty setting. Never played the PS3 version, though.
@mattjasonhardwick I hear that! This whole section took me ages longer on the Xbox than on the PC. Wish I had some magic fix, but I think it's just a matter of persistence...and trying to stay relaxed while you do it. At least that helped me. When I'd tense up, it just made it harder. I just assumed it wasn't ever going to happen...then eventually it did. ;)

@MangoJellyOnFire I know and I'm sorry. The Wii game is similar to the PS2, but even that one has a few extra features and areas to help make up for what was taken out. :( I'm guessing TR9 won't even be available for PS2. Maybe it's time to save up for a PS3 or Xbox 360. The prices are coming down.... :)

Do you mean where you grapple-swing into the alcove? Maybe try lengthening the cable first for a longer swing.
Stella's Tomb Raider Site yah i got it a little after i typed that. it made me so mad i kept making it to that part and she would just not grab the wall she kept falling. i finally platinumed the game this morning. i started it in 2011 and put it away for a few years because the jumps were frusterating me to no end lol. thanks for the reply though =)
@89craignufc Which version of the game are you playing? Sometimes you can clear them all out and then use the checkpoint on the far side of the room, reload and the thralls will stop spawning. Doesn't work in all versions though. :(
Does anyone know of a mod for PC that will allow saves in between check points? I've turned on all four symbols only to have her miss a jump and die before she can climb the platform.

@89craignufc Tell me about it! It must've taken me 30 tries the first time. You're right that you do get a big sense of satisfaction once you finally nail it, though. Especially if you've gotten the others and unlock that achievement.

why is it that in your video, no enemies attack you, and when I go to do it, as fast as you are by the way, I get assraped by shitty Windex Zombies? They knock me off shit, and I drown in the Windex. WTF?
