    Chasing the dragon!!! Keep it coming!!! I've got a Mike's Lab 800 (yes, I know -- too big) but eager to learn any techniques that will bump up my current peak speed of 23.7 knots. Perhaps I can hit 26 knots before initiating negotiations with my financial controller (a/k/a wife) on acquiring yet another, smaller foil?

      @@edwaingortin Hi Ed, love it “chasing the dragon” might use that !! It’s not just about using small foils . I have a bunch of mates I sail with , one of them is considerably heavier than me and can go fast ……… we swapped gear and I sailed it a few knots faster that his previous record, he has weight on his side and the gear was set up for him. There is a lot to going fast …… and faster on your own kit. This series isn’t about going out and buying custom foils although Stefano at Mikes Lab would be more than happy with that I’m sure . As the series progresses we will talk about how to get the record breaking combination together using custom foils and how to get to the next next level and what is required to challenge the top guys in the sport.

    I’m using a 90cm fuselage with a 290cm front foil and 100cm stab. It’s good to be able to trim your stab angle.

    I'm grateful for your insights. Thank you for sharing in this video and the later ones. However, claiming that a long fuselage always results in too much lift is making a big assumption about the stabiliser foil attached to the end of it. eg. Fast windfoilers do over 40 kts with 110+ cm long fuselages, combined with stabiliser foils which are very thin and almost symmetrical in cross-section.

    • @SPEEDWINGFOILING
      @SPEEDWINGFOILING  Před měsícem

      @@upside721 you are absolutely correct , I couldn’t agree more, windsurfing Foiler have a fixed center of effort which is massive on a a windsurfing sail that’s what drives the nose down and enabling them to do 40knots , if our hand held wings has this much pull on the front we could use longer fuselages.
      The assumption came from trying loads of different fuselages (both recreationally and in competition) and there just isn’t enough loading on the hand held wing to keep it down. As products develop I see longer fuselages maybe becoming a thing like windsurfing foiling. Loved your comment thanks for posting as it’s dialog they gets this information out there. Always happy to answer questions.

      The Duotone kit I have been riding since it came out in 2019. They are very innovative. I have ridden most of what’s out there. £ for £ can you tell me a better all round brand ?

      @@SPEEDWINGFOILING Thanks for the video. 🙂 I sold last year Slick v3 and Sky fre 105L never lost so much money on something that have be used so little.
      Duotone is over stocking the market so all of them where at 50% more or less so all second hand value is lost.
      Can't be great for the consumers this. Not sure how this will go for the foils...

    This is just wrong. You can reduce the size of the stabilizer and also adjust its angle to reduce the stabilizer down force. A shorter fuse will have less drag so that will help. The ML foil that he compares is not the same length, it is longer.
