Chipper definitely being a humble guy with those comments. He'd still be able to hit at a high level in today's game. He faced some absolute killers on the mound back in the day. He could still do well in today's game.

It's got to hurt, I know, but at least they went to a good club. We Braves fans respect the hell out of our players, and the club takes care of them. I don't know if the cameras are better, or the pitchers are better, but there seems to be a lot more ball movement from a lot more guys then there used to be. And a lot more guys throwing a lot harder than they used to for sure.

Strider threw 80% strikes, was 96-99 and had 31 whiffs...with 13Ks and about the same result PG-wise as Smyly, I don't think there's much debate that Strider was more dominant, not that Smyly wasn't great, he was.

I'm sure there's plenty of other people who have brought this up before but is there a good reason why so many MLB stadiums have terrible camera angles? In terms of enjoyment of watching pitching there's just a massive difference between say Atlantas straight on camera and many other's in this video off to the side. Is there really no way for these other stadiums to build a platform out in CF to handle this? Or do they just not think it's a big deal? Or am I really in the minority on this?
I've been banging on that drum for a while too. I don't know why they can't. It's almost like some don't understand why the straight on angle is better.
I commented this on yesterday’s video. Watching from a straight-on angle is sooooo satisfying and with the usual angles, you can barely see any movement at all when its a LHP so I wish every broadcast did it.

Can a baseball person explain something to me? Why can a pitcher scream and gesture to celebrate basically however they want but if a batter celebrates they get ball thrown at them?
Because some pitchers are pathetically fragile human beings that have overly inflated egos. I.e. Mad Bum, he's such a tool. They subscribe to the "rules for thee, but not for me" mindset that's so prevalent these days. Honestly I want one of these hulks like Judge or Stanton to get ahold of a pitcher that intentionally throws high and inside and snap them in half or beat them with a bat. Pitchers are a lot like soccer players with their hysterics.

I think you mean Drew Smyly. Great game. But Strider also had a near perfect game and had 31 whiffs and 13Ks. Strider was more dominant than Smyly by a good bit.
Zac Gallen had a 12 K, no runs given start. Lance Lynn needs to tone it down until he actually puts together.

Not to take anything away from Spencer who’s clearly the real deal but he has obviously copied his whole arsenal and even windup after deGOAT. You can doubt that, but when you see them pitch side by side there is no question about it. At least he’s honest about it, respect for that
