  • How to wire in/hardwire a roof mounted LED warning light bar/warning beacon/etc on a Bobcat skid loader.
    In this video the lights were added to Bobcat S750's and were added using a factory optional Bobcat Beacon Switch and using the factory wiring harness that should be behind the panels already. The mini lightbar used here was from Amazon. I removed the cigarette lighter plug and hard wired them to the switch that I added to the switch panel. To change patterns, simply add a momentary stop switch with a ground wire on one prong and the yellow wire attached to the light on the other prong. In this case, we decided to just have one pattern on all the machine but could easily change that later if we decided to.

    This should apply to all newer models with the keyless ignition and the Bobcat Smart Technologies on both the S-series machines and the T-series machines (S100 up to S850 and T110 up to the T870). You can see what models the switch is compatible with on the Bobcat website and those machines should most likely be equipped with the wiring harness shown in this video that can be tapped into for easier wiring.

    Just a FYI... just wired a 2023 T66 and the harness plug is under the drivers left side bottom trim panel just below drivers arm rest. You have to pull the seat on SJC models.

      @@leadermon Yikes, that’s annoying if you have to pull the seat too just to add in some accessories to a switch!

      @@leadermon Good to know. I did a heater core on two of the units in this guy’s fleet, it was a real PITA without having a way to properly evacuate and recharge the AC system I think was my main problem causing the evaporator coil to be in my way. Fortunately he paid me fairly while I worked for him and was always willing to put whatever parts into the machines they needed. If it wasn’t season work I’d go back to work for him, one of the only employers I had who would listen to me when I’d explain what was wrong with a machine and what it needed. He never asked was I sure or why, just always said as long as it needs it and it’ll fix the problem he’d get the parts for it. He definitely knows how to run a proper business and is a super nice guy. Besides seasonal work not being able to support all my bills, he’s the best employer I’ve ever worked for by far for overall pay, attitude, and the way he treats his employees.

      @@lawnboy81SMS just did a beacon on our toolcat and went to do the t66. Looked up videos and found yours. Funny thing was I was putting in the exact same led beacon s off Amazon.

    Great video. Worked like a charm. The factory switch I ordered just had two prongs on the back of it (vs yours that had three prongs) but it still works fine.

      @lawnboy81SMS  Před 2 lety +1

      Your factory one may not be a lighted switch then like this one is. This one the switch lights up when you flip it on so you can easily see it’s “on” at a glance. A standard switch that isn’t illuminated would have two prongs but serves the same overall function

    Extremly helpful thank you so much for sharing. Question, am installing led warning bars on my truck, could you please explaim more about that button that changes patterns

    • @lawnboy81SMS
      @lawnboy81SMS  Před 3 lety

      The button that changes patter just grounds out the yellow wire on this light as the control module is internal. The red and black wires coming from this light are the standard power and ground, and the yellow one changes pattern any time it’s grounded out. This can either be done by attaching it to a momentary stop switch/button and using that to ground it to the black wire on the power switch or ground it directly to the frame (I.e yellow wire to the input side of the separate momentary start switch/button, with a second wire on the “output” terminal of the switch attached to any grounding point.) hope that helps!

    This is awesome, thanks so much for this video. I just ordered an led bar and 4 pod lights for my S570. Im assuming the flasher relay is built into the light itself right? And I'm assuming I can also use the same switch location for a constant on/non-flashing light?

    • @lawnboy81SMS
      @lawnboy81SMS  Před 3 lety

      Sure can! The factory harness I used was for a factory single strobe beacon which is why I spliced into that harness to use as power supply for my lights since the flasher module is contained inside the light itself. You can use any of those pre-existing cut outs for a switch, the reason I used the factory harness was to prevent having to run wires as I had to do this to 13 different machine And didn’t want to disassemble each machine that far apart to run the original wire from the light to the switch.

  • @PurpleGoat201

    Your advice on the fusing is completely wrong. Your fuse should be at your feed from wherever it comes from.

    Awesome job with the video!!! Im going to order and do the exact same thing. Just wish the wire on top was a little neater.... but like you said who wants to drill into the cab. Have you installed any light bars on your machines, and do you have any videos on it? Thanks again for the informative video

    • @lawnboy81SMS
      @lawnboy81SMS  Před 4 lety

      Donny Lisa I do not currently. If you add LED light bars you will have to run your own wires but can still use the existing switch panel and put in an aftermarket rocker switch of the same size. The only other way to add a light bar would be tap into the headlight/work light wiring harness so they come on with the headlights or the rear work lights (depending if you’d want them on whenever headlights are on or only when the rear work lights are on. I would wire them to the rear work lights so if you drive on the roads like us you can turn the headlights on but keep the light bar off when on the road so they wouldn’t blind other people on the roads during travel between jobs

  • @michaellorentzen1834

    Did you take the red and black from the strobe to the red and black wires you cut in the cab?

    • @lawnboy81SMS
      @lawnboy81SMS  Před 4 lety

      Michael Lorentzen Yes. The red is the power wire, black is ground, and yellow changes the pattern. I just used a test light to confirm which red wire on the factory harness was the power fed wire and spliced into that one. The factory beacon will plug right into that harness without any wires being cut, but these aren’t bobcat strobe lights which is why I had to cut the wires
