    As point out by Classic WoW Subredditer Snarfi0, you could macro nature's swiftness with max rank healing wave to get that heal out even faster. Also, as an option, nature's guidance can be a great talent for leveling for extra spell and melee hit rating!!

      how do you feel this build compares to the other top 3 shaman leveling builds out there posted on this channel? I understand this would be lower than those, but is it still viable? or only a small difference between this build and enhancement or elemental.

    What do you think about moving the 5 points out of totemic focus into convection?
    Edit: adding onto the question; do you think the mana discount on convection is too low? As Resto Shamans while leveling do we even use damage spells that often? Do we use enough totems often enough for totemic focus to be worth it? Should I not put points into either and instead get improved lighting shield and improved ghost wolf?

    @Happytoad42 Před 6 lety +5

    First of all, I really appreciate you making those videos, they definitely worth a watch. And while resto spec is sure viable even in solo play it is, in my opinion suboptimal, midly saying. One can easily heal 5 mans even in deep enhance spec, if he has a set of + int + mp5 gear. You can easily heal even late-game 5 and 10 man content while elemental-specced through the levels 50-60. Most of the fights are quick and mana is not an issue when you can just sit and drink when you feel like it. That said, you trade most of your solo-killing potential (elemental fury and - cast time on LB and CL) for a mediocre healing boost that you don't really need. Resto is definitely viable when you have a static levelling group or a cooperative guild. For a solo play you still better take ele or enhance path.

    • @samuelhakansson6680
      @samuelhakansson6680 Před 2 lety

      This. There is no reason to ever level as a healer, any healing class can heal just fine in their dps spec until level 60. Just gather an int/spirit set on the site, and any dungeon is more than easy enough to heal.

    I'm going to level and endgame as 0/25/26 or at least 0/22/29. Mana Tide is good, but I think can make a case to go with a melee buffing resto shaman.
    1. With Dire Maul in from nearly the start and ZG along soon after, there is more MP5 stuff about and mana will be less of a problem.
    2. Given the way private servers have buffed melee, there are going to be a lot of dps warriors and rogues raiding, instead of mages and warlocks.
    3. If everyone is right and raids are going to be easier, buffing dps is always a better call than buffing healing. Burn bosses down faster and you need less mana for healing.
    4. Levelling, end game farming, PvP and solo are going to be so much easier working towards at least 22 points in enhancement.

Tidal mastery for the crits? (On my sequence I already have 1 point there at this lvl) or Purification for the healing effect?

      @@DefcampMelderonTV Thanks for the reply, just one more question: tird tier, only Totemic Mastery seems useful during leveling, in order to get to tier 4 talents I feel that Totemic Focus is most useful than Tidal Focus, not only the 5% is very little on low level healings but the totens are much more needed than the healings even kiting mobs to the totens.

    Was curiously drawn to see this considering I did in fact level resto back in Vanilla, except I went 20/0/31 so I could provide damage when in world pvp meanwhile being tough to kill then put more in Resto when I hit 60. Personally, I don’t recommend leveling as a pure Resto shammy being that it takes so much longer level with (I probably could have hit 60 almost a month sooner if I leveled more Elemental), but that said I was in fact considered one of the best Resto shams on my server since healing was my entire progressed gameplay. Practically unkillable in PvP & your guildies will notice your healing adeptness

    I'm glad you mentioned weapon speed.. In fact.. There are pretty decent items sold by the weapon vendor in ogrim or IF.. there is a good lvl 10 and 20 fist weapon with 1.4&1.5 speed respectively..
    P. S. I didn't hear anything on nature's guidance but it's an incredible leveling talent.. +3% hit to melee and spells is great especially because you will be fighting mobs your level or 1-2 lvls above and can increase your overall effectiveness and could maybe save your life if you really need to land that interrupt or final blow.

    Great video I loved it! ... I use the fast dagger + shield when leveling resto too!
    I have leveled as resto quite a few times (to play on different servers with other friends or family) and I go a different route. I go elemental/resto (15/8/28) and try to stack int and spirt for mana pool, regen , and spell dmg bonus. This is not a raid build but a leveling build that can heal normal 5 mans while leveling; I respec for endgame content. This build heals with stead spell casting and does not have the normal "saves" that a true resto heal build would have, it does help teach how to heal efficiently and know how to read the flow of battle (so you don't need the "saves" as much). This build focuses on using shocks and totems for damage while leveling solo. I have not found this to have bad mana issues when played right. It's about front loading then letting the DOTs take effect and regen with MP5. It uses shocks to speed up kills but knowing how to manage shocks use and mana does take time. I get mana reduction for shocks and increased damage for shock for solo dps (especially on PVP servers). I have found this build very fun to play even on PVP servers leveling as resto. One more thing fishing is a big plus profession IMO for this build (or any caster). The food from fish give int or MP5 bounes that help with mana regen.

You lost me though at the dont take dps talents. It would seem more to me like you would go into resto just far enough to grab mana tide then go ele for more fire totem and shock damage or go enh for ghostwolf lightning shield and finish with talents in resto unto 60 respec.
    Still an interesting take though.

Consider taking 5/5 in Increased Healing wave, for the 0.5 faster heal. i Will take that on enchancement too, since its huge on a pvp server to cast fast heals.

      I am doing this guide and I have full healing/support mindset so it is best paired with alchemy imo. You got that Elixir of Wisdom quite early on, mana drinks on demand and my fav giving your tank all the extra stuff (trolls blood for HP rege, guardian for axtra armor, one for extra HP etc...) tho I do make pots and sell them and stuff, but trust me, tanks will appreciate if you give them few "extra passive def abilities". Also I like picking up flowers around world so it is business with pleasure.

      @Dimitris (Defcamp here) as a rogue an under geared shaman, or pretty much any other class that isnt a plate wearer (other than a good frost mage, they just take a few seconds longer :P) if i get a good opener it is pretty much like how you said. But if a geared enhancement/ele gets opener on me its GG as well. A lot depends on gear and who gets opener. Yes, in 1v1 open world, if we never spotted the rogue. If I am chilling out in the badlands and even got a whiff of a stealther, I would doggedly keep throwing down magma totem to keep those rogues at Bay. This was not fool proof- a rogue could sprint in between the bursts and pull off their combo, but judging by those who failed it wasn’t an easy move.

    11/9/31 is far superior and your stat allocation is horrendous. you should act basically like an ele shaman but stack spirit/int/spellpower/stam in that order. I can pull endlessly with mana stream down and never drop below 90%, mobs die in about 10 seconds

    What are you out to proof? that you can level a shaman in resto? well, yeah...you can. Is it a good idea or even better than the other options? well, no...unless you are part of a leveling grp. The rotation and abilities to use are all correct and reasonable, but imho anybody serious about leveling as a resto will find that rota by themselves within the first 20 hours of playing.

      What also irks me is that he tells people to avoid the 3% hit chance talent on a talent build meant for leveling. You don't need all those raiding talents to heal a pre 50 5 man dungeon group lol

  • @jetrpg22
    @jetrpg22 Před 5 lety

    I am a advocate for priest leveling as holy as its not that much worse than shadow (if AV was out its hardly worse.) But IDK man I think shamans are probably the worse talents in their healing tree for leveling. So i am more than fine with a bit off meta and using your own brain and evidence.
    However, priest easily have the best time, Druids can go 13-14 and get a ton from it (granted 40 in shaman gives mana tide >>> swiftmend for leveling, But in 14 points druids get much of what shamans get into the 20-30s points of the tree) faster casts, 15% mana regen in combat, energy and rage with shifting, and insect swarm. Pallies aren't great but a seal buff, 10% str, 12% healing, consecration for 14 points.. pretty good. 21 gives you the super mana back with crit heals and if you go 40 Holy shock is useful. Only difference here is Shaman are just faster than pallies to start. Still it is viable.
    Great video and work.
